As in looks you've worn in recent years that now look wrong or frumpy? (no Mumsnet debate on the word frumpy please!)

i only see vejas on 50+ year old women round here, I think they look good

LoisLane66 · 30/06/2022 19:46

The spelling on here is abysmal. No wonder children can't spell if their parents don't know any different.

reliahag · 30/06/2022 19:46

I'm late 30s and you'll have to peel my leggings from my tunic clad dead body! Ditto cardigans! Sooooo comfy- it's my go to look as a mum of very young children but maybe that's what frumpy means on MN!

It’s not a spelling test 😮

AuntMargo · 30/06/2022 19:49

Stillettos or high heels

Oh dear. This thread, to me, should be titled "things you like wearing and comprise 90% of your wardrobe"!

Yes indeed. Ballet flats, tunics, leggings, cardis, blazers....I don't think there is much left if I jettisoned all those......

What sort of jeans do you wear?

😄😄😄😄😄 do you know my children?

fatlazycow · 30/06/2022 19:52

I have seen blazers everywhere in the shops at the moment, especially neon and bright coloured ones

'The spelling on here'

Not the most elegant of phrasings, is it?

'The spelling on this thread' would have been a less clunky choice.

JaneJeffer · 30/06/2022 19:54

Don't know any different what? @LoisLane66

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 30/06/2022 19:54

I'm late 30s and you'll have to peel my leggings from my tunic clad dead body!

But...no one will want them, as they're dated! Your corpse's modesty is assured.

ThatshallotBaby · 30/06/2022 19:55

It’s not about the spelling!
I also think cowl necks are a bit dated. Which is annoying as they are flattering for big boobs.

WellThatsMeScrewed · 30/06/2022 19:56

Today I wore a Boden dress (second hand) over leggings.

Shoot me. 🤷‍♀️

I looked good.

Oh at one point it rained so I wore a navy rain coat. Like proper walking rain coat.

I am amazed at all these people looking at other women and thinking they look ‘dated’.

I might look at someone and think ‘that looks nice’ but I would never think they look dated. That would just be unkind.

Saying that I do judge women wearing thongs with see through trousers/skits/shorts. By some proper pants please!

Yep, God forbid you look like a Mum!!!

Societies low of low.

Larmes · 30/06/2022 20:01

Birkenstock’s are awful

They come in loads of different styles. They're not just one thing. I wouldn't wear them to a wedding, but there's nothing I love more for pottering around in summer.

Queenie24 · 30/06/2022 20:02

I’ve never been very good with fashion but I’m confused with the no cardigan what do you wear it it’s a bit chilly?

KisstheTeapot14 · 30/06/2022 20:03

At least I'm not at the stage of the fleece with picture of wolf on it as yet.

That post did make me laugh. I have got hiking trainers though! I'm obviously on the slippery slope here.

I do have a waterfall cardi but I only wear it in winter in the house, as it looks dated even to me.

I like people watching and enjoy the different kinds of clothes people wear. I also work with teenagers and the only thing I don't much like is the enorma brow. Be glad when that's had it's day. Where do these things start?

FangsForTheMemory · 30/06/2022 20:05

Don't see how anyone can say ballet flats are dated. They're timeless. I bought my first pair in 1986. Stripy Breton shirts are a Chanel classic. They'll never got out of fashion and I've got at least four of them.

Thehobbit2013 · 30/06/2022 20:06

If heels are out, what do people wear as a wedding guest or to the races etc?

MigsandTiggs · 30/06/2022 20:07

Gosh, those tunics look like maternity wear!

theremustonlybeone · 30/06/2022 20:08

me

WellThatsMeScrewed · 30/06/2022 20:11

I don’t like the chunky sandal style at the moment. I just think they look horrible. And EVERYONE has DM sandals. In a year or 2s time they will dated. Will stick to my flip flop.
