Aldi Lacura - anyone else not impressed?

Daydreamerinme · 26/06/2022 23:36

On the back of so many positive reviews I bought -
Original cleanser
Glow toner
Caviar Day & Night creams
Q10 serum

Of these I’d only buy the cleanser again. I have ordinary skin, nothing sensitive or special about it but after using the above x2 daily for nearly three months my skin just looks dull and lacklustre. The day cream takes longer to rub in and absorb and then my skin feels tacky to touch afterwards for a little while.

Sadly I’m not impressed and wondered if anyone else has been disappointed or it’s just me? 🤷‍♀️

Me too. I love a beauty bargain- am a big fan of Superdrug and other value brands- but I find Aldi skincare is rubbish. I don’t get the hype.

KangFang · 26/06/2022 23:42

It's awful. I don't like the smell and it's bad for my skin.

GrazingSheep · 26/06/2022 23:42

Made my skin itchy

buckeejit · 26/06/2022 23:44

I like the night caviar cream a lot. Also love the watermelon gel moisturiser. Nothing else I've been dying about yet though still have a pile of stuff to use from Christmas

QueenOfHiraeth · 26/06/2022 23:46

I haven't had anything Lacura that I rate and I love a good dupe.
I have to say though I think Aldi and Lidl are overrated generally. I can't understand the media hype about them and their products

EllaPaella · 26/06/2022 23:56

All the Lacura face creams make my eyes burn

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 27/06/2022 10:28

The only thing I like is the glycolic toner. But it's hard to get that wrong I think.

The hot cloth cleanser gives me spots
The moisturisers are just a bit lame.

I did like a papaya balm thing I bought in a tube but I don't know were I left it and don't like it enough to buy it again!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/06/2022 10:29

I had a really bad reaction to the Antrim wrinkle cream!

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 27/06/2022 10:29

Agree that Superdrug is a better bet. Especially the B range

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 27/06/2022 10:32

I’ve not been impressed either. Tried really hard to like them but have better skin care that I can use if on a tight budget.
asda hyaluronic hot cloth cleanser is £4 and is really good. It’s work well for my 46year old skin and dd’s 16yr old skin and also saved me a fortune as she kept using my expensive cleaners even when I brought her the glossier one.

Okay, this is great to find out this info. I was thinking of using an Aldi replacement to a L'Oreal day cream when it runs out. I'll just pay for the L'Oreal version and call it a day. Or are there subs at Boots or Superdrug that are good too?

This is the product I'm talking about: L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Pro Retinol Day Cream SPF30 www.superdrug.com/premium-moisturisers/loreal-paris-revitalift-pro-retinol-day-cream-spf30-50ml/p/664551

Shoot, it's 50% off at Superdrug right now. I just may pick up another jar while I'm in town today actually...

KirstenBlest · 27/06/2022 10:39

I have only tried the eye cream and I like it. I tried the serum in the shop but didn't like the smell. I use the Lidl serum and it's great

rookiemere · 27/06/2022 10:40

I don't get the Aldi skin products love.
I've tried a couple of things but found them very heavily perfumed.
I prefer the Simple age regenerist products for cost effective skin care.

blublub · 27/06/2022 10:41

I like the spf day cream, it’s not too greasy, but do use a lot of other more expensive products with it!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/06/2022 10:43

Conversely, I've used Aldi day and night creams for years and think they are great. I also love Lidl's serum.
Guess it depends on how these things suit your particular skin.
I don't use their cleansers - I had a No 7 foaming cleanser in a gift set a couple of years ago and have used it since.
I have used Clarins, Clinique, and Estée Lauder skincare products in the past but am very happy with what I use now. I don't have to watch the pennies (not boasting, just fact), but I don't see the point of spending more than you have to of your skin is happy with what you use

SecretVictoria · 27/06/2022 11:05

I loved their Glow Recipe dupes, but wasn’t bowled over by anything else.

RedWingBoots · 27/06/2022 11:12

I've used Aldi day and night creams for years and think they are great.

I'm another one who likes them.

However I don't buy full product ranges.

Iprefergin · 27/06/2022 11:13

Lots of people seem to think if the packaging looks similar then the product inside must be too. I really like their Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser dupes and some of their perfume dupes have been really good. Wouldn't use the make up dupes and think the jo malone copies were massively over rated.

My fave ever is the Molten Brown hand-wash dupe. I have the real version and can't tell the difference. I'm now one of those ppl who fill up the empty £19 MB bottle with the £1ish Aldi stuff 🙈😁

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/06/2022 11:32

I really like the Caviar Night Cream. I have really dry skin and I used to use Neal's Yard Frankincense Intense which is now a bastard to get since Brexit, and the Caviar Night Cream is just as effective, very similar in consistency and about 10% of the price. I do miss the smell of frankincense though.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/06/2022 11:37

It's not just you. I've bought several Lacura products based on glowing reviews here and I've found them pretty poor. I've been slow to learn because they are inexpensive and I think "Why not give it a try?" But essentially it is money wasted. Simple or Garnier are better and even cost less in Savers or half price in Superdrug.

Maisa45 · 27/06/2022 11:51

I quite like the Q10 serum but found the moisturisers crap. They just flake off my skin and feel a bit tacky as you said.

poorbuthappy · 27/06/2022 12:21

I didn't like the day and night cream and found it flakey until I realised I was using far too much of it. As soon as I used less (but enough 😁) I get on with them

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/06/2022 12:24

My skin doesn't like any of their day creams, I wonder if it's the SPF in them. But I've been using this night cream for a while now and I love it. Whilst I'm not mad on their skincare as such, I do think that the makeup dupes they have are amazing (eyeshadow palettes, brow pencil, eyeliner, CC cream, body glow etc)

Aldi Lacura - anyone else not impressed?
IhopeYourCakeIsShit · 27/06/2022 12:26

I also found them a major disappointment.
I didn't even finish them.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 27/06/2022 15:45

Weird isn't it? My skin normally loves cheap skincare but the Aldi dupes do absolutely nothing for me.
