£60 cut and low dry every 6 weeks = £520 per year.

No other treatments these days although I did when younger. Regularly had facials, manicures, waxing.

Thinking I probably need to spend more; maybe I will get my eyebrows done in the local Superdrug today. I stopped during the pandemic, and then just didn't go back because of pure laziness and also because I began wearing glasses during the pandemic.

PurpleDaisies · 22/06/2022 10:15

This thread has brought out all the low beauty spenders which is odd as it is in S&B but also because in my RL, women spend a fortune on hair and beauty & I am a low maintenance one.

The question is about what you spend in salons etc rather than total style and beauty spending. That could really change things.

Lovinglife45 · 22/06/2022 10:40

Hair - cut and colour myself every two months
£6×6=£36

Nails - polish myself- buy 2 Rimmell 60 second dry polishes a month
£8×12= £96

Eyebrows- pluck with tweezers which I replace yearly- £5

Waxing- buy Superdrug brand
£4×3=£12

Lashes - use Rimmell mascara
£4×6=£24

Total - £173
I would like to think I do not appear as low maintenance- just cut costs by doing at home.

HouseofHolbein · 22/06/2022 10:47

Zero. Husband sticks the clippers over my hair when it annoys me. Gave up doing my nails as they get wrecked at work.

Bearsan · 22/06/2022 10:48

Haircut x 3 = £60

This thread has brought out all the low beauty spenders which is odd as it is in S&B but also because in my RL, women spend a fortune on hair and beauty & I am a low maintenance one. Everyone has hair coloured every 4-6 weeks and nails done fortnightly as a minimum.

I spend £35 on a haircut every 3 months or so, no colour.
£25 a time on 3 weekly pedicures in the summer (I can’t reach my feet).
£60ish facial about once a year
Switched from waxing to epilating during the pandemic so no more cost there

Total about £350 per year.

They must be spending more than that though. I go to the hair salon to cut my hair once a year and dye my hair at home and never do my nails but I spend an eye watering amount on makeup.i have hardly seen a woman with salon highlights and manicured hands who doesn't wear at least a bit of makeup. I can spend up to £80 a month on makeup but there are plenty of months I spend v little.

whydoesithurtsomuch · 22/06/2022 10:58

£40 three times a year for cut and blow dry. I should have it cut more often, but having a haircut is on a par with going to the dentist for me, a necessary evil.

I've never had a salon beauty treatment. I do my own nails, dye my own eyelashes and brows, and I epilate my legs, armpits and bikini line.

I do spend quite a bit on skincare and makeup, it's the having someone else do something to you aspect of beauty care that I hate.

Chaoslatte · 22/06/2022 11:07

Nothing. I cut my own hair and pluck my own eyebrows.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/06/2022 11:11

It didn't ask about make-up though.
The thread came up in active so has drawn in people who don't usually come onto Style & Beauty.

I spend a lot on hair, noted above.
I economise on make-up, No7 skincare, foundation, blusher, concealer, etc. Estee mascara and lipstick. Probably total £20 a month.

I spend fairly averagely on work clothes and shoes- about £1500 (including coats/boots/bags). I spend a lot more on non work stuff.

I don’t spend money on beauty treatments because I spend it on clothes, shoes and jewellery instead Wink
Also I don’t need hair dye or Botox because of my age, don’t like nail varnish and don’t like people touching my feet.

LetsGoWithTheFlo · 22/06/2022 11:22

£150 haircut, root touch-up, and blow-dry every 6 weeks = £1300
£35 manicure every 3 weeks = £606
£30 pedicure every 6 weeks = £260
£35 wax every 6 weeks = £303
£250 botox usually 3 times a year = £750

Seems like a large amount, and this doesn't even include any makeup or skincare 😳

EternalPoinsettia · 22/06/2022 11:24

Nothing. Ok maybe one nails a year on average, so 20 quid. I cut my own hair. Don't colour

RudsyFarmer · 22/06/2022 11:25

Hardly anything. I would guess in the last tear I had my gaur done twice. So £110.

RudsyFarmer · 22/06/2022 11:25

*year
*hair
🤦🏻‍♀️

MiniatureHotdog · 22/06/2022 11:27

Nothing 😅

WonderWine · 22/06/2022 11:29

Wet cut about 7 times a year = £210

Do everything else myself, or not at all!

MintJulia · 22/06/2022 11:33

£84 every six weeks for cut & colour.so about £760

I do everything else myself, although I had chemo a few months back and I might treat my brows to a professional shaping as they regrow.

Plodosaurus · 22/06/2022 11:36

£1100 on hair. I go every 3 weeks to cover my grey roots

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/06/2022 11:43

£40 on cut, colour and blow dry every 6 weeks( I enjoy every second!) My ex salon hairdresser set up on her own in her converted garage and is now a friend.
I'm crap at maths but I think it works out at £1 per day
I use posh" shampoo( matrix colour obsessed) £15 per year.which really suits my hair.

rejectedprincess · 22/06/2022 11:47

becausetrampslikeus · 22/06/2022 11:53

It's not odd that sone people are saying 0

I chipped in because lots of people are struggling financially and they may feel more comfortable reducing spending in this area if they realise that lots of people just don't bother

If you feel everyone is spending more than you , you can end up feeling pretty shit

Ragwort · 22/06/2022 12:02

Haircut twice a year - £28 a time (just booked a 'model' night so hope it will be cheaper) Grin.

I have embraced my grey hair - never considered dyeing it.

Paint my own toe nails, shave my legs and pits nowhere else.

Justthisonceharold · 22/06/2022 12:04

Four or five haircuts a year at about £45 a time.

MsOllie · 22/06/2022 12:07

£55 on hair once a year
£20pm on skin and me
£39pm peloton
I do my own eyebrows and nails and shave legs but I do love skincare and makeup!

RuthW · 22/06/2022 12:09

£315.

Hairdresser every 6 weeks
