£60 cut and low dry every 6 weeks = £520 per year.

No other treatments these days although I did when younger. Regularly had facials, manicures, waxing.

OP posts:

I've just worked it out - £90 for a cut and colour every 6 weeks or so - £780

£30 a fortnight for nails plus an extra £30 monthly for toe nails for say 6 months of the year - £960

So £1740, up until this minute I didn't realise I spent more on nails than hair!

I'd only get eyebrows, lashes, tan etc done before I went on an abroad holiday and that hasn't happened for 3 years now.

SquirrelFan · 22/06/2022 08:10

Haircut 4x per year @ £50 =£200
Pedicure 2x per year @ £30=£60
So, I guess £260 all told? More than I thought, to be honest. Have been thinking about upping my self care game, but maybe I won't...

MakeMineAdoubleChocolate · 22/06/2022 08:11

Zilch.

I cut and thin out my own hair. Dye it every couple months. So not much for thinning shears and hairdressing scissors from superdrug.

I hate long nails. So nothing there.

And beauty or facials nothing there.

But I do looooveeee makeup. Nothing better than a brand new lipstick or a glossy and sparkly palette!

AuntieMarys · 22/06/2022 08:11

Hair £1000
Nails £600
Facials £600
Podiatrist £250
Legs are waxed
I also have a personal trainer once a week ( £28) and gym membership £480

RollOnWinter · 22/06/2022 08:12

I've never been to a nail bar/manicurist/masseur/spa, and wouldn't want to.

I loathe going to the hairdresser's, so only go when I desperately need my hair cutting - about 4 times a year, at £33 a time.

onthefencesitter · 22/06/2022 08:13

Haircut £35 once a year

Was colouring my hair at a salon for £100 for cut and colour, now dyeing my hair at home.

I spend quite a bit on makeup; my makeup bag is ysl, nars, Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury and suqqu and only the eye makeup/contour/lip balm is cheap. I have a skincare routine but it's cheap stuff as I can't see the difference. But as there are various steps, it's still a cost to top up.

HeidiWhole · 22/06/2022 08:15

Hair about once a year, £50. Make up from Primark.

Nothing else. Sad really!

HorribleHerstory · 22/06/2022 08:21

I’ve always wondered how salons and beauty places survive and how there are so many of them.

I don’t spend anything in them, I cut my own hair, shave my legs and underarms and do nothing at all with nails or any other type of hair.

Fairnair · 22/06/2022 08:24

Zero

I have long hair with no layers or fringe, so my Mum (former hairdresser) trims mine every so often.

Chewbecca · 22/06/2022 08:25

This thread has brought out all the low beauty spenders which is odd as it is in S&B but also because in my RL, women spend a fortune on hair and beauty & I am a low maintenance one. Everyone has hair coloured every 4-6 weeks and nails done fortnightly as a minimum.

I spend £35 on a haircut every 3 months or so, no colour.
£25 a time on 3 weekly pedicures in the summer (I can’t reach my feet).
£60ish facial about once a year
Switched from waxing to epilating during the pandemic so no more cost there

Total about £350 per year.

ArtVandalay · 22/06/2022 08:29

facials 1x month = £840 per year
hair cuts 2x year =£320
nails 0 as do my own
hair colour £600 ish per year
botox £300 per year
bikini wax approx £100 per year

a surprising £2160 a year not including the huge amount I spaff on skincare 😳

GoldenEclipse · 22/06/2022 08:32

Cut and colour every 2-3 months £150 each time, so upto £900pa
Eyebrows and top lip wax every 3-4 months £15 each time so £60pa
Pedicure and gel nails twice a year at £45 each so £90pa.

TheOpenDoor · 22/06/2022 08:35

Haircut every six weeks @ £35
Lowlights three times a year @ £50
Pedicure five times a year @ £45
Massage when I remember to book it, probably four times a year @ £50

I’m not very good at making appointments and my beauty salon is always booked 7-8 weeks in advance so I wax my own legs.

I don’t bother with facials or manicures.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 22/06/2022 08:37

Hair cut twice a year so £70. Max. I dye my own hair - very happy with the colour. Everything else I DIY with wax strips, tweezers, a razor and an emery board. I am wanting to get my skin tags on my neck removed. Hoping to go NHS as they have started to catch and hurt and our surgery does do them last time we checked. Otherwise that would cost me a fortune! There’s masses. That would blow my budget!!

70kid · 22/06/2022 08:42

If I include Botox and lip fillers probably around 4k
eyebows / eye lashes £1200 a year /£ 100 a month
nails and pedicures £1200 a year / £100 a month

Why is it odd?

It was in active and can't people who don't spend money on beauty treatments care or be stylish?

Useranon1 · 22/06/2022 08:48

£200 for highlights and cut, about 4 times a year. Nothing else. So £800

pushingpoppies · 22/06/2022 08:50

0 exactly

DailySheetWasher · 22/06/2022 08:53

Haircut and highlights 4 times a year at around £150 a pop = £600.

Plus around the same again on botox.

I do all other grooming myself and don't like fake nails, tan or lashes.

rnsaslkih · 22/06/2022 08:59

£0 this year so far.

I might get my hair cut soon, it will be about £25 if I do.

Aposterhasnoname · 22/06/2022 09:08

£85 for hair and around £60 at the beauticians every six weeks. Thats colour cut and blow dry for hair, fanny wax, eyebrow wax and tint, eyelash tint and gel toes. Also spend an extra £20 three-four times a year on gel
nails for holidays or special occasions.

msbevvy · 22/06/2022 09:08

Time2Move · 22/06/2022 07:19

If its a year when I get my hair cut, about a tenner. If not, nothing

Exactly the same as me. Nothing in the past 2 years.

I might push the boat out this year and go for a dry cut at a cheap hairdressers. I used to go to a very old fashioned barbers but they closed down.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 22/06/2022 09:16

Every month-
£12 dry cut (I have very short hair)
£26 lashes and brows tinted, toe nails painted.

zighead · 22/06/2022 09:34

I go to the hairdressers approximately three times a year for highlights and cut = £240
I have gel nails done approximately every 5 weeks = £220
Don't have any other treatments so spend about £460 a year. I think that sounds like a lot!

namechangeanonymous · 22/06/2022 09:59

Hairdressers approximately every 8-12 weeks so around £700 a year for cut colour finish.
Eyebrows usually monthly or thereabouts about £90
So rarely buy makeup or skincare but let's say £5 a month averaged throughout the year.
Probably need to start looking after myself better - I look ready for the scrappers at the moment.
