New to Sézane!

I've loved Sézane's look for ages but never got round to ordering anything, now really tempted to go for it (no particular reason, just strong New Clothes Lust), but wondering if there's anything I need to know? Do they tend to size small or large in reality compared to the information they give on the site? Do they do new customer discounts?

I'm really undecided about what to get but thinking probably a lower cost / easier to fit piece to start off with, as ideally I'd like to not have to deal with returning. So something with more flexibility of fit. I'm very, very open to suggestions if anyone has a Sézane piece they love! Equally, I don't want to get an accessory as I'm hoping to zero in on my correct Sézane size so I can also buy safely from Vinted. Grin

I've found Sezane very true to size, I've only bought tops though, so I can't say if jeans etc are the same. I've never seen a discount code, but they have occasional sales.

Innocenta · 27/05/2022 16:34

@Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 Thank you! I think I'm maybe going to buy a loose top so that if is oversized, it will still look nice. I hate buying trousers tbh, as they're so hard to fit from the information you get online.

I love Sezane, they are a recent discovery for me. I've only actually bought a couple of blouses from them and find them true to size.

Roseglen84 · 27/05/2022 17:36

I just got my first Sezane order delivered today in a beautifully decorated box, with gorgeous tissue paper inside (swoon). I felt proper posh opening it.

I also steered away from trousers so just bought a few blouses but they fit well (true to size) and look nice. Overall I'm happy.

Innocenta · 27/05/2022 17:38

@Roseglen84 Oh, that sounds fabulous! Do you mind if I ask which styles you went for? No worries if you don't want to share, of course. I'm glad you're so happy with them!

@DramaAlpaca That's so good to know, thank you! I feel much more confident having had these responses about the sizing.

I got a couple of the Chloe blouses. The only thing is they are 100% silk so going to be a bit of a pain to clean. Also, I did opt for size 36, which is fine (I'm usually a size 8/ S in tops) but I could have gone for 38 for a bit more room. But they are lovely.

17CherryTreeLane · 27/05/2022 18:02

I got jeans but had to send them back as they were about 5 inches too long. I'm 5ft 5.

Zengarden001 · 27/05/2022 20:11

I've ordered a fair bit from Sezane. Mostly true to size, but usually there is information on each item as to whether it fits small or large which is useful. I think you need to check the fabric content because whilst some of it is fantastic - 100% cotton or silk - others are polyester but this isn't reflected in the price! I've not ever come across a discount code and they only do a sale twice a year (for summer and winter collections - the 'archives"). The discounts aren't much (in my opinion) so if you like something full price it's probably worth buying it because it will only be discounted by £10-20 the following year. At least this seems to be the case at the moment. Lots of their trousers seem to be designed to be taken up as they are long. I've not found their shoes or boots to be very good (quite stiff and uncomfortable). The best items are the shirts, blouses and knitwear in my opinion.

Tiddlywinkly · 27/05/2022 20:53

I love Sezane. Great for knitwear, tops and blouses. I haven't tried trousers, but they seem long.

Don't expect discounts and if you like something buy it as it might well sell out.

You'll need to buy £200+ of stuff to get free delivery and returns. That's about 2-3 items any how.

Innocenta · 27/05/2022 22:01

@Tiddlywinkly Thank you, that's so helpful! I'm definitely mostly interested in the knitwear, tops, etc. It looks like reaching the threshold for free delivery is quite easy given the prices 😅

@Zengarden001 Thank you, that's brilliant to know! I'm very fussy about fabrics as don't want to spend the money on polyester but also don't buy silk firsthand for personal reasons (don't mind buying it secondhand) or buy/wear leather. It really is limiting with these French brands as they use a lot of silk (which of course looks so lovely!). I am obsessed with the tops and knitwear tbh.

@17CherryTreeLane That's so long, gosh! I guess if they don't do a tall length they expect everyone to hem.

@Roseglen84 those blouses are stunning, wow! Enjoy Grin

Boppertini · 27/05/2022 22:33

There’s a Facebook group that’s very useful (sezane addicts UK & Ireland, I think it’s called). Whenever I’m interested in buying something, I search the name of the item in the group. Often members have uploaded pictures and sizing reviews which is super helpful!
I’ve bought mainly blouses which I have found true to size (I’m 10-12 and find both tend to fit). My current favourite is the Leontine jumpers though (I got mine in M).
Hope you find lots of lovely things. Also - their return process used to be a pain and you’ll find lots of posts about this if you’re searching on mumsnet but they appear to have gotten much better lately so I wouldn’t let that put you off.

Innocenta · 27/05/2022 22:39

@Boppertini amazing, thank you so much! I knew none of that and also am kind of between sizes which has had me hesitating. Really appreciate the tips! And the Leontine is gorgeous, everyone on this thread has fab taste. ☺

MerylSqueak · 27/05/2022 22:53

That's interesting about the Facebook group thank @Boppertini .

I have fairly broad shoulders and big bust and although I love their stuff, I always assume it will be too tight.

ToManderleyAgain · 28/05/2022 06:56

Agree with pp that returns used to be awful, but they seemed to have overhauled the service recently so returns are tracked and refunded incredibly quickly (despite being initially shipped from France). In my experience customer service has also been great when I’ve needed it.

I love the Gaspard kits for their versatility and colours.

Saurus72 · 30/05/2022 16:07

Just adding my experience re: returns which was absolutely amazing! I dropped the package off at the drop-off point yesterday at about 2pm (it’s Evri, the new Hermes) and 5 minutes ago I got an email saying my card is being refunded. Brilliant, super quick and no hassle at all. I really want to buy some more Sezane dresses but they sell out really quickly! I have this dress that I bought a couple of months ago and it’s fab. Not cheap but well made and feels as though I’ll be wearing it for years.

imstilljenny2 · 30/05/2022 18:07

I have fallen in love with Sezane and I always get compliments when I wear their clothes. I have loads of the silk blouses and lots of jeans and trousers. Oh and belts! The Facebook group is super helpful with sizing and styling. It's expensive but the clothes are well made and I wear them so often the cost per wear is low.

DSGR · 30/05/2022 19:37

Another Sézane fan here and I agree the returns and refunds process is much better then it was.
I’ve bought tops and knitwear (I’m a 10) and find them true to size (I take small in their knitwear, sometimes XS).
Their leather sandals are also lovely and true to size.
The only thing I hate is the prices!

Primprom · 30/05/2022 21:31

Ooh I love sezane. Knitwear (gaspard, bary) and coats oversized but trousers and dresses usually true to size. Dresses are so flaterring, my faves are vic and Victoria. As pp said watch the UK and the French Facebook pages (you can use the auto translate function on the French site) I especially love their shoes, and am saving for a farrow bag. Returns are OK now but heard about warehouse people stealing and selling on vinted which makes me worried to return items in those obvious (but beautiful!) boxes

LeeMiller · 31/05/2022 07:06

Sezane knitwear is huge in my experience, even taking into account the oversized slouchy look. The rest is fairly normally sized but more generous than other French brands.

I especially rate the jeans, cotton T-shirts and tanks (they seem expensive but they are well cut and wash well - I like Brooke for the heat) and the silk shirts (lots have a classic slim cut). The stretchy knit tops and dresses (Cassie) are very comfy and flattering. The only thing that disappointed me was the linen (like the Lys top) - very soft and pretty but too thin and got holes almost immediately.

The EU vinted site is swimming in Sezane (and French brands generally) for anyone able to use it.

Sooverthemill · 31/05/2022 14:45

I buy quite a lot from
seza and usually take size z36 in bottoms fur my 8 ( but not always some skirts I go larger) for tips I am uk 10 and take size small for tees usually size S for knitwear but in gas parts I’m XXS. Some jeans I’m TTS but others I need to size down. Definitely join Sézane adductsUk/France/USA and look on instagram and YouTube for reviews.
I love almost all my Sézane stuff and wear it kits. Usually well made and washes fine.
Bastille day will be next discount I think

i have probably around 40 Sézane pieces! Yikes

Sooverthemill · 31/05/2022 14:46

So many autocorrect! GASPARD I’m xxs
