Hullo, this dress is so far out of comfort zone it hurts. My usual style of dress is work pencil dress or cheapy sundress. Mostly I kick around in jeans and a T-shirt.

It for Ladies Day at Ascot. Intending to wear it with a pale silver/grey wrap and pale silver/grey barely there heeled sandals.

I'm not sure on it, I have the build of a hedge sparrow and I wonder if this makes me look a little like I'm playing dress up n a Disney Princess dress? It definitely needs a stitch at the bust and I'd obviously wear a different bra (this one is a very padded front close) so I wouldn't look as out of proportion booby.

Lovely!

Perfect for Ascot

Have a great day

Twattergy · 16/05/2022 22:20

Your figure looks great in it. For me the style is old fashioned and quite aging tbh. The colour looks insipid in the picture. You'd look absolutely fine for the event though.

The dress has some netting under the underskirt which doesn't sit quite right in my opinion. I'm wondering if I need to take that out so it doesn't look quite so bustle-y!

Gorgeous 🥰

FetchezLaVache · 16/05/2022 22:49

I think that looks really lovely.

maddy68 · 16/05/2022 22:50

Wow that dress is amazing and really suits you

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/05/2022 22:50

A higher waisted pair of knickers in a finer fabric (I think I can see the line of the band) and your preferred bra will make it absolutely perfect.

Concestor · 16/05/2022 22:53

How old are you? It's the kind of dress is expect someone in their 50s to wear, so if you are younger you might want to look for something else.

thirstyformore · 16/05/2022 23:02

It looks lovely on you and you have a great figure, but I agree with a couple of other posters that if you're under 50 you could wear something a bit more on trend. Having said that, it is a very nice dress.

Can you give me any hints for "on trend"? I'm absolutely useless at style.

The dress is very ageing. The snapshots of you out on the raz are amazing. You have a fab figure. You could totally wear the patterned slip dress with nice accessories for Ascot.

onlywork55 · 16/05/2022 23:12

It’s a lovely dress, I do like it but you have an amazing figure and could maybe go for something a bit more trendy.

VanillaImpulse · 16/05/2022 23:13

I think you could get away with a dress like in your above last picture, a more fitted style. You have the figure so make the most of it!

Helpmymum · 16/05/2022 23:13

It's a pretty dress but in all honestyI think you could do better. You have a really lovely figure and I don't think this shows it off the best. The length is a little frumpy too. Sorry! I can see why you bought it but I think you are probably best suited to a different cut of dress considering your shape/ age.

Hop27 · 16/05/2022 23:13

Please OP, don't wear that dress. You have an amazing figure and you are SO young - it reminds me of a mother of the bride outfit.

Threetulips · 16/05/2022 23:16

I thought it looks a bit grumpy - the first picture with your lovely skin gives your age away! You look much slimmer in the fitted dresses.

GoBackToPartyCity · 16/05/2022 23:18

It’s reaaaaally old fashioned! You have an amazing figure and could do so much better! What’s your budget?

Divebar2021 · 16/05/2022 23:18

Nooooo that’s not modern at all sorry. ( and I’m in my 50’s thanks and wouldn’t wear it).

You have a lovely slim, petite figure but honestly I think this dress swamps you completely.
The top of the dress- the straps are too wide for your build. There is just too much material, yet where is needs to be secure and well fitting over the bust, that cross-over creates a nuisance of a gape to spoil the line of the dress.
The black strapping at the back is totally unneccessary and detracts from the elegant rear view. I love the colour and material, but not the cut of the dress on your delicate figure.
