Lip filler on Monday and I’m so scared

Argh.
im needle phobic lol, absolutely rubbish with pain I think. But I’m booked to get fillers on Monday at 3pm.
im having 1ml and going up slowly. I have the smallest top lip that disappears when I smile but I love wearing red lipstick :(

does it really really hurt? Does numbing cream work?

the woman is a qualified nurse/midwife as well.

Yes the numbing cream is a god send!

I don’t know if it’s the case where you’re going, but at the clinic I go to, they have local anaesthetic in the needles which numbs the lips even more.

I’m not going to lie, it can feel a bit stingy and nippy in places. (I find the Cupid’s bow the most painful).

Just go through any worries with the nurse beforehand. I’m Sure you’ll be in good hands. Close your eyes and breathe through it. It won’t take long at all x

@veronicagoldberg the OP is wanting advice on the pain. Not advice on wether they should get them or not.

The numbing cream helps. It is a bit nippy and stingy in places as a pp said. However the needle is very thin and you don’t even see it (or I didn’t anyway).
It’s lots of little injections and I’m sure she will take breaks if you need them. Take something to squeeze to distract yourself if needed.

Ah yes... midwives are so well trained in cosmetic filler. Maybe choose a doctor she could have taken a 1 day course for all you know.

I really wouldn't let a non doctor do this, midwives and nurses simply don't have the knowledge to do it properly. My doctor is a consultant dermatologist and surgeon, she spends a long time planning and marking before she does mine. It is painful even with emla

Exactly. My BFF hasn't had kids (or the covid vaccine) due to an absolute terror of needles and fear of having to have blood tests during pregnancy.

You're not needle phobic if you've booked a procedure involving having a dozen (?) injections.

I'm a nurse. I would not recommend having any medical 'procedure' unless you really have to. As a nurse - I doubt she has a bleedin' clue what she's doing and will be after the money primarily. How is she licensed to do that?

They don't look natural to me. What's the point in having a procedure done if everyone just looks at you and all they can think is 'you've had lip filler/ botox/ whatever'?

Kind of defeats the object of increasing beauty doesn't it?

It’s bound to be uncomfortable, any procedure involving inserting a needle into you will be. Tell her you are nervous and ask for lots of numbing cream as pp suggested and try to think of something else whilst she does it.

Yeh it does hurt a bit. It's OK tho.
Not sure what the "only ever look natural ' brigade are here for.
Do they never dye hair =remove body hair/ wear bras or anything else that doesn't look 100 % like they haven't had anything done?
