Sotd is Ormonde Jayne Persica, from their recent Secret Notes from London sample box. Nectarine, bergamot, peach and sandalwood. Lovely!

Good morning friendly perfumistas ,could I ask for help in a quest to find a scent/perfume/handcream similar to a once beloved ?

It's Nantucket Briar by Crabtree and Evelyn
www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Crabtree-Evelyn/Nantucket-Briar-4938.html#:~:text=Nantucket%20Briar%20by%20Crabtree%20%26%20Evelyn,Briar%20was%20launched%20in%201985.
And it's really the handcream/body lotion I crave .I think it's the amber, the powder and the slightly spicy elements that appeal .I do like clean/soapy smells - Maja soap for instance !
www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Myrurgia/Maja-6233.html

I would really be grateful for any help though I know it's an almost impossible task - my interpretation of a fragrance could be completely different from another persons !

I guess this thread is more focussed on perfume so apologies if I'm highjacking .

Have you tried marseilles soaps?
I really like the Amber one
Really inexpensive too!

Thank you so much guys! Exciting ,I shall be looking into those suggestions .

@IrisApfelRocks huge sympathy ,interrupted sleep is just torture .

FestivelyScent · 17/05/2022 14:08

That's really very generous of you @ChiswickFlo but I wouldn't want to deprive you of your last few drops as I've got a sample of Tarts Knicker Drawer coming in my set (I couldn't resist the description 🙃). That's so very thoughtful of you though, thank you for offering. 😊

In the end I chose:
Captured by Candlelight (I love Xmassy things)
Shazam
Eau my Soul
Another Kiss by the Fireside
Amberama
SSOTPE (I saw your post this morning just as I was ordering! 😁)
Tarts knicker drawer.

Am very excited. 😂

FestivelyScent · 17/05/2022 14:09

Oops, forgot to add, I hope the hospital went OK. 🤞

FestivelyScent · 17/05/2022 14:20

Welcome to the thread @peridito 👋 I don't know that perfume personally but I can commiserate with you re Crabtree and Evelyn discontinuations. Their Spring Rain perfume was perhaps the only truly floral thing I've ever loved (although it was much more than a simple floral, if that makes sense) - it smelled like the nicest garden you've ever been in, all green and woody and realistic. Discontinuations and reformulations are a perfume lovers worst nightmare.

Wishing you the best of luck in finding a replacement in a similar vein - the search may even turn you into a perfumista! 😉

That's a lovely sounding list of 4160s, FestivelyScent. The names are so evocative, it makes you want to try them all. When I ordered a set of seven they chucked in an extra sample, hopefully you'll get a surprise one too.

SOTD is MMM Beach Walk (warm and sunny here today). I also have a bit of Next Summer Sun on my hand as a comparison - I think it is supposed to be a dupe of EL Bronze Goddess, which I haven't tried. The Next one is much more citrussy at first than Beach Walk then they are fairly similar after a while on, but the MMM is a bit sweeter. Both of them are probably your idea of hell, ChiswickFlo!

ChiswickFlo · 17/05/2022 16:39

@FestivelyScent Yeah...went OK. Traffic was bad though. Just waiting for results now.

I think you'll really like your 4160tuesdays choices :)

Sote 4160tuesdays SSOTPE - this is SO good in hot humid weather

Thank you all for complimenting my 4160Ts samples choices. 😊 I'm really looking forward to them arriving.

The names really are expressive @CorneliaStreet I like how the samples are all wrapped up in colourful tissue paper (at least in the images online). I hope mine arrive like that, they look just like sweets!

Hope the tests results come back as good news @ChiswickFlo 🤞

SOTD was the original Eau Sauvage parfum (not that horrible blue monster), for a close hot day.

FestivelyScent · 17/05/2022 23:29

SOTN is Jicky, because I was hankering after lavender. I love the herbal-camphoraceous lavender and rosemary opening, but am less enamoured of the civet-y drydown. Maybe I will get used to it. 🙂

CambsAlways · 17/05/2022 23:30

Valentino Roma today

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/05/2022 00:19

SOTD Chanel 19.

ChiswickFlo · 18/05/2022 08:00

Sotd 4160tuesdays fluffy lemon top

MissBattleaxe · 18/05/2022 11:17

SOTD Rosa di Rio by Karen Timson Fine Fragrances. Absolutely gorgeous rosy floral musk with a bit of patchouli giving it muscle. I was sent a sample for the blog and totally fell in love with it.

ChiswickFlo · 18/05/2022 11:24

Sounds lovely!

OP posts:
musicmum75 · 18/05/2022 11:25

Ooh that sounds lovely @MissBattleaxe. I will have to look that one up. I love rose perfumes.

My sotd is Drole de Rose. It reminds me of Johnson Baby Lotion, but in a good way! I haven't worn this one for ages so it's nice to rediscover it.

ChiswickFlo · 18/05/2022 11:29

I'm really enjoying the fluffy lemon top today...buttery narcissus and orris 😍

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 18/05/2022 11:30

@musicmum75 Drole de Rose? I'm googling it right now. Like you, I love a rose.

Hi @ChiswickFlo ! It really is lovely and you know how I like to support small indie perfumers!

ChiswickFlo · 18/05/2022 11:33

I only like skanky rose 🤣
Rose and patchouli is a match made in heaven imho

OP posts:
musicmum75 · 18/05/2022 12:10

@MissBattleaxe yes it's a L'Artisan Parfumeur one. Not sure if it's been discontinued though?

ThatsMyJam · 18/05/2022 12:14

SOTD Narciso Rodriguez For Her.

Cantonet · 18/05/2022 12:33

Drole de Rose is one of my favourite Roses @MusicMum. I love to spray it on a cold winters night as it's so comforting. It's Lipstick Rose's more subtle sister.

Sotd is Goutals Eau d Hadrien.
I nearly sold it last year as I really wasn't feeling the love but this Spring I've worn it a lot. It's the EDP but still only lasts up to 4 hours.

I'm in the throes of Gcse's & A levels.
Anyone else?

ChiswickFlo · 18/05/2022 12:42

A levels last year...I feel for you!
Ds1 is just completing his 1st undergraduate year at University and has 1 last essay and 1 exam left.
Ds2 will be picking g his gcse options next year sk the she merry go round starts again 😬🙃

FestivelyScent · 18/05/2022 17:15

SOTD is Samsara - jasmine and powdery sandalwood, prefect for a warm day.
