No perfume for me this month 😢 (5 weeker and holiday in July)

I got the 2 byredo perfume samples...they are both nice but nothing special and really quite weak?

I'm going to sort out samples to take on holiday...I tend to use samples up on holidays and just bin them if not quite finished.

I'm running a bit low on 4160tuesdays SSOTPE 😬 but can't justify a new bottle yet.

I took the small perfume parlour bottles away last year. Meant I could pack three and have a small selection to choose from.

SOTD is Miss Dior Originale.

Samples and minis are perfect when you go away.

SOTD is Jo Loves Pomelo. It is a bright and very realistic grapefruit at first but then settles to a woody base which seems quite aftershave-like to me. It’s ok, but nothing more.

I'm rather fed up. I still feel really, really rubbish, I'm bored, feverish and there is so much I could be doing...

So...I decided I need cheering up after a really horrible/difficult week. I've ordered 3 x Dior dupes from pp AND I've done the 4160tuesdays 3for2! (Although 2 x of those are gifts for dh and ds2 later this year....)

My "free" bottle is extra sexiest scent (extrait version of SSOTPE) as its quite expensive.

I'm working my way through the Escentual blind perfume trial. Today's one (sample E) was incredibly fresh but spicy on opening. It's really mellowed down throughout the day to a creamy scent. I have a terrible sense of smell so don't know if it's vanilla or sandalwood.

Can any more experienced perfumistas enlighten me? What's SSOTPE?

You definitely deserve some new perfume to cheer you up after the week you’ve had @Chevyimpala67. Also, the 4160s offer goes on for ages so it is very hard to stay strong!

My SOTE is Sana Jardin Incense Water. A good rose/patchouli. I also lit the Jo by Jo Loves candle which came with the Cult Beauty set I got a few days ago. It’s grapefruit and orange and all things citrus so it doesn’t go with the Sana Jardin at all, but the room smells lovely 🙂

Have added the Diorama to my pp must-smell list for the next time I make an order. It looks just like a cosy vanilla - my sort of thing. Thanks @Chevyimpala67 😊

The ouds look good too - pp dupes are so tempting. Oud and I have a difficult relationship but I've read positive reviews about the Dior Prive ouds.

I've been missing in action for a few days, mainly because it's so frustrating trying to navigate long threads on my tablet since the update. It's very annoying. I'm using a desktop now, and while considerably better it's still slow.

Hope you are starting to feel better @Chevyimpala67. @FestivelyScent I sympathise with the migraines. Mine disappeared with the onset of menopause which is weird, but I'm grateful for it.

As for scents, I've been working my way through the Byredo sample set I got recently, though nothing is really doing it for me. I've also been trying out my MM samples and have some definite faves there, plus a couple I can't stand (Bubble Bath, Beach Walk and Coffee Break)

SOTD is MM Sailing Day. Yesterday was Whispers in the Library, both big hits for me me when I feel like wearing a skin scent.

Still trying to finalise what I want to get from the 4160 offer. Two will definitely be Fluffy Lemon Top and Court of Ravens. I'm working my way through the samples to decide on the third one. Decisions, decisions...!

I still enjoy following this thread, but haven’t updated as I feel like a broken record - I just rotate within the same 3 Chanel fragrances: Chance, No 5 and Gardenia. Occasionally use Calvin Klein Euphoria and the M&S beauty bag one which is (slowly) growing on me.

In other news, I got a jo malone dupe on PP as a reed diffuser and now my whole home smells lovely!

I’ve done a bad thing. The Perfume Society emailed saying they have a new sample box out (it’s called Platinum and is all British perfumes) so I obviously had to order one. My sample box is already overflowing!

@Mrcpy Their mixed boxes are an easy way to try out lots of different things and there’s usually a good mix of niche and more mainstream and expensive/cheaper. They often have a 10ml bottle in there (I’ve had a couple of Shay & Blue ones) so they’re pretty good value.

Mumsnet is very slow on my phone too @DramaAlpaca It takes absolutely ages to load, I sometimes get fed up and come back later.

In my quest to reduce my migraines I've been cutting out caffeine this past week - which has been... interesting. I'm not sure what difference it's made, though. I was doing so well, only I fancied a cup of tea today and had ordinary instead of decaf, thinking I'd be OK with just one cup at breakfast. Pfft. I had a migraine 30 mins later.

In brighter news, I have pp kayali vanilla on a mouillette beside me and it is gorgeous @Chevyimpala67 😊. Rich vanilla on an ambery, ever so slightly smoky and woody base. Not overcomplicated and just wonderful. I can't wait to try on skin.

Interesting re: caffeine. I've had 2 coffees today (1st time since I've been ill and bam! Headache tonight...)

@Chevyimpala67 😊 I can't wait to try it out properly.

I haven't been able to have coffee at all this past year, it's my favourite hot drink, but sadly results in an instant migraine. Dark chocolate is out as well. Too much tea also equals migraine, but I thought I was fine with just a couple of cups. Cutting out caffeine completely seems to have sensitised me to even the smallest amount now though, so despite not making much difference to my headaches, I'll have to stick to decaf from now on, I think. I do sleep much better though, and seem to have better concentration. Silver linings, I suppose.
