Very odd weather here today
Muggy and warm not hot but overcast
Horrid
Dh off for a work trip tomorrow for a week so the roof will probably blow off or something
Ds1 still feeling rough :(

FestivelyScent · 19/06/2022 23:34

Indeed. It's a bit chilly here too. Nobody would believe we'd just had a heatwave - the mercury must have dropped twenty degrees since Friday.

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

FestivelyScent · 19/06/2022 23:38

Mumsnet took so long to load and post I missed your update @Chevyimpala67 Hope your DS improves soon. Did the Dr get back to you?

Hope he feels better soon @Chevyimpala67 and that the rest of you stay healthy.

SOTD Chanel Chance but I’m so tempted to get the dupes after this bottle is finished.

@Chevyimpala67 That's terrible about the Dr! Summer colds are weird. At least with winter illnesses you know what to expect, but their summer counterparts are so unpredictable. I hope he feels better soon and that you all manage to avoid it.

Am pleased to report I smelled By the Fireplace on the bus today. 'Twas much better than what I usually smell on public transport. And at the hospital a lady was wearing Aromatics Elixir, she smelled lovely, but it's really not a hospital safe smell for a warm day - her fragrant cloud engulfed the entire waiting room.

SOTD was Miss Dior Originale.

Alienbigcat45 · 20/06/2022 20:50

@Chevyimpala67 hope your son gets better soon.
SOTD 4160 Ts it was in the 90s.
@MissBattleaxe I bought your book and spent a pleasant Sunday at the Guerlain counter sniffing the ones you and Sarah wrote about. It's a dangerous book as I want to buy all the lovely scents...

Chevyimpala67 · 20/06/2022 20:53

Thank you x
I'm coughing and spluttering now too 😷
Ugh.

SOTD JM Wild Bluebell. @Chevyimpala67 i tested negative on LF when I was crawling about the floor crying for my mum - the PCR was positive but it was a full week later until LF was. I think I then tested positive for 24 days! Hope you all feel better soon.

I feel shocking

FestivelyScent · 21/06/2022 10:48

@Chevyimpala67 Oh no! Hoping you can get plenty of rest and will shake it off quickly. 💐

ferretface · 21/06/2022 10:57

Hope the pestilence passes as quickly as possible @Chevyimpala67 !

I got my 4160Tuesdays perfume samples (lightning fast!), it seems on first impression better than indies I've tried in the past in that the scents do seem definitively "different", they have their own characters rather than blurring together into a general candley kind of smell (The only true indie I had kept in my collection was Ava Luxe Love's True Bluish Light).

Today I'm trying Dancing with Strangers, I really love the initial scent on spray which is very clean, cold cream kind of scent. I love the smell of creams like olay, prai etc. As it settles down the violet, honeysuckle and musks become more prominent and it loses some of that cosmetic-y feeling - might ultimately be too floral for me to be full bottle worthy but waiting to see how it develops further and the impression the sillage gives vs the scent smelt close up and directly on skin. I can see why it is described as having a vintage feel.

@FestivelyScent aromatics elixir is lovely, definitely a marmite fragrance though and it would survive a nuclear bomb!

FestivelyScent · 21/06/2022 11:44

@ferretface Aromatics Elixir used to be my absolute favourite perfume! So rich and opulent in feel, and yes, it lasts forever and ever. Then they changed the formula and it's no longer the same, though still good. I think the lady just sprayed a bit too much for a stuffy waiting room.

Glad the 4160Ts made a good first impression. I find DWS gives off quite a good sillage. To me, it definitely smells more face powdery in the air, rather than if I sniff my skin directly iyswim. 😊

It never rains but it pours .I've found most people in situations like this very helpful re chargers .Can you throw yourself on the mercy of strangers and ask around for a loan ?

If you happened to be in Kings College London I could walk down and offer help ?
I have refreshing Sandalwood Sacre from le Jardin I could spritz about .

RedlobsterJones · 21/06/2022 13:10

Chevy sorry to hear your news. Please take it easy!

Sotd is Kate spade amazing but it's going to be my new room spray :) blind buy fail, unfortunately.

FestivelyScent · 21/06/2022 13:38

@Chevyimpala67 I'm sorry to hear it's covid. They often keep spare phone chargers at the nurses station. Hopefully you will see the Dr soon (as it's daytime, the waiting times are usually much less). They will give a clear sense of direction treatment-wise, so at least you'll know what will happen next. You are in the right place, and as pp said, they will look after you. 💐

FestivelyScent · 21/06/2022 14:00

My Autocorrect is so glitchy! I actually wrote Peridito, not pp. Grrr.

chiffchaffchiff · 21/06/2022 14:54

Hope you're back on the mend soon @Chevyimpala67

SOTD is Paul Smith Rose. A blind-buy win that arrived this morning. It smells lightly sweet and fresh with none of the suffocating powder of the rose perfumes of my childhood. It's a hidden gem.

CorneliaStreet · 21/06/2022 15:28

Sorry to hear that @Chevyimpala67, hope you’re feeling better soon.

Chevyimpala67 · 21/06/2022 16:37

Well I'm still here...
They think the tachycardia is due to the covid
I feel like I've been run over by a truck 🚚
They are giving me a tablet then doing my obs again

Thank you all. More tests in a mo then hopefully home.

Gosh, this is grim.
