A scrubber means you apply it, sniff it hate it and scrub it off 🙂

Pink minger applies to all fruity sweet candy type perfumes in pink bottles (think Britney spears, ariane grande, prada candy etc*)

I've just ordered samples of byredo valve d afrique and gypsy water. Hope I like them more than the last 2 samples I tried!

*obviously they are the trend in perfume atm and many people like them

So, for example, from your list for me, coffee break was a scrubber.
Milky lavender? Bluergh. I got no coffee notes at all 🤷‍♀️
Very disappointed in that one.
Haven't tried boss or escada. I quite like black opium. Haven't tried soliel blanc as I don't think I'd like it based on the notes.

Cantonet · 15/06/2022 15:45

Tested Covid + for the first time.
All my perfumes smell like cheap & nasty air freshener 😭
Especially the Citrus ones.

Sorry to hear that x

RedlobsterJones · 15/06/2022 18:39

Sorry Cantonet x

Chevyimpala67 - the scrubber adjective now makes sense!!

I really enjoy purging perfumes... the process of using up and disposing of them or giving them away. I don't know what that means?!?! I'm happy I have room for new ones?!?

I am moving onto some new smells now summer is here- my lights blues, and aquatics like issey miyake.... heaven.

FestivelyScent · 15/06/2022 19:41

SOTD is Dune. This makes more sense to me in the heat, I first tried it a few months ago when the weather was quite different and it felt a bit too cold for my liking. It is almost chypre-y in the dry down, even though it's really supposed to be an oriental.

Ah. Yes. I tired dune during the winter months and it didn't work for me at all.

Some fragrances really come into their own in the heat/cold

CorneliaStreet · 15/06/2022 21:55

I really need to try Dune again. I wore it pretty much exclusively during my sixth form/university years. I can’t even remember what it’s like, but smelling it again would probably bring back a few memories 🙂

RedlobsterJones · 15/06/2022 22:02

Yes would be good to try dune again... think it's really expensive now! Compared to before.

DramaAlpaca · 16/06/2022 00:08

SOTD Si Fiori.

almodovaresque · 16/06/2022 08:06

pink minger is brilliant!

I am wearing paul smith rose today got it off someone on vinted. I love it, its in my locker at work for top ups. So fresh and rosy and a bit green.

does anyone else love hermes eau d'orange verte. I love it so much but it does wear off quick.

I had a bottle of Paul Smith rose years ago ..ond of the few rose scents I've ever owned (along with Stella by Stella mcartney)
It's perfect for summer imo

Alienbigcat45 · 16/06/2022 09:26

Hope you get better soon Cantonet, my DP has covid and has been floored by it.
SOTD Nahema

FestivelyScent · 16/06/2022 13:19

Dune definitely seems to be a summer only scent for me, it just smelled weird during our chilly spring weather. It's still a bit colder in feel than I would like, a bit soapy almost. I did think it would have a more prominent sandalwood amber/balsamic base, but it's great for a refreshing spritz in the heat. It's a tiny bit salty and seaside-y without being at all aquatic (a genre which doesn't do it for me, sorry).

Mine is only an unwanted mini (more than enough - I would never finish a full bottle); I couldn't find any testers in the shops around here, so it does appear to be harder to find than when it was more ubiquitous.

Chevyimpala67 · 16/06/2022 13:28

Sotd avon lbd the dress
This is the newest lbd flanker
It's rather nice and perfect for hot sticky heat

Cantonet · 16/06/2022 13:43

Thank you @alienbigcat & others for your good wishes.
I'm pretty much floored by it too.
It seems each day brings a new symptom.
Sotd L'Occitane Lavender EDC after my bath last night. I wonder whether the very light Yves Rocher Lily of the Valley spray cologne will also be ok. Nothing too perfumey or lasting is probably best.
I'm really missing having a bottle of Lilas Mauve by Yves Rocher, as it was absolutely brilliant for combating nausea.

DramaAlpaca · 16/06/2022 15:25

Sorry to hear you've got covid @Cantonet. Hope you are feeling better soon Flowers

I have a bottle of Paul Smith Rose, must try it out again.

SOTD JHAG Musc Invisible.

FestivelyScent · 16/06/2022 18:02

SOTD is Shalimar. I know most people think of this as a winter fragrance. But for me, the rich seam of sunny bergamot that runs through the top and middle, the woody musky powdery vanilla-y base, and the hint of smoky incense make this perfect for warm weather. Though the way it flies off skin in the heat, it could really almost be a cologne. ☀️

chiffchaffchiff · 16/06/2022 18:27

Scent of the day is Dolce & Gabbana- The Only One. It's my easy choice when I don't know what I'm in the mood for.

I've been eyeing up Paul Smith Rose for a few weeks. I always worry about powdery rose fragrances that smell old fashioned but love the clean smell of the roses in my garden.

I don't think PS rose is powdery tbh
More green?

Chevyimpala67 · 16/06/2022 18:30

Ds1 feels pretty grotty
Got a nasty virus but as he's asthmatic it affects his chest
Every single thing has annoyed me today...
I shall be glad when it's bedtime

@Chevyimpala67 this is what I'm hoping to hear. So many are powdery which is what makes me nervous. I need to get to a shop with testers. If I could smell like the roses in my garden I'd be happy.

FestivelyScent · 16/06/2022 20:13

SOTE is original Eau Sauvage parfum. I cannot seem to settle to anything this evening - I think I'm just too hot and it is making me restless.

Wishing your DS a speedy recovery and a better day for you tomorrow @Chevyimpala67 I too can't wait for bedtime today.

From memory that's exactly what it smells like.
It's pretty linear and not sophisticated note wise but that's not always a bad thing :)

Thanks @FestivelyScent
Still no phone call back from 111 (should have been by 6.30pm)
So I've given him some steroids.
I can't settle at all those evenings either.
I cooked dh sirloin steak but couldn't face it myself..
No sote - just too hot and I don't have any eau de colognes

FestivelyScent · 16/06/2022 21:29

The waiting times for anything NHS are horrendous these days. I hope the steroids give your DS some relief soon @Chevyimpala67 Breathing problems are utterly miserable.

I hear you about not feeling hungry - I can't face anything heavy or rich in this heat either. I have been feeling so nauseous all week and am waiting for the Dr to ring next Tuesday to hopefully get some antisickness tablets.
