C'mon who's still loving skinny jeans?

I look good in them, make me look so much better than wide legs and baggy jeans. It can't be just me. Surely? Grin

I don't really like them unless they are tucked into boots. Glad there are finally other options out there - I"ve missed bootcut and wideleg/flared jeans. I prefer the hippy style 😀

Orangesox · 27/04/2022 15:50

I will never not love skinny jeans and jeggings. They are the ultimate, crucially, none see-through in the arse, leg covering for tucking into wellies or long boots when dog walking, clay pigeon shooting and general outdoors activities, particularly up north where it's cold all year round 😁

When I find I style I like, I've taken to buying at least 3-4 pairs now because my "strong" thighs destroy all trousers, and I'm fearful of the day that I have to return to dragging cold, soggy bootcut or flared jeans every time it rains, and having to fork out an arm and leg for jodhpurs. I can't do that again, my teens were enough!

DreamloverTealover · 27/04/2022 15:50

Me! It's been years since I owned boot cut but they used to be my favourite before realising I suited skinnies.

I might have a look at bootcut jeans now though! I thought they were "out" these days.

Lesperance · 27/04/2022 16:05

Nope: They look dated and feel uncomfortable. Who wants to wear tight clothes?

RampantIvy · 27/04/2022 16:07

Who says they look dated?

So many people are still wearing them, so how can they look dated?

JoeGoldberg · 27/04/2022 16:34

I don't think they look dated. And as they're stretch skinnies they're not right just very comfortable. They're the only kind of jeans I'll wear.

WilsonMilson · 27/04/2022 16:37

I’m not sure what I would wear if it wasn’t for skinny jeans. They are my daily go to. Im a size 8, I look ridiculous in wide flappy things and strangely massive in mum or boyfriend jeans. I will be wearing them to the grave (hopefully at a ripe old age).

A handful of people on MN (who I think just want them to be dated) but definitely not all the trendy/fashion yay high street shops who have rails upon rails of them or online shops who have them all in their ‘new in’ sections.

In the Levi’s shop by me over 3/4 their stock are skinny jeans!

Chaoslatte · 27/04/2022 17:31

Solidarity with the destructive thighs @Orangesox! They need to make reinforced jeans for our powerful legs 😂

SmellyWellyWoo · 27/04/2022 21:03

Me! Super high rise! Super skinny! Till I die! 🙌

NaturalScone · 27/04/2022 22:36

If you go to a website with lots of different styles of jeans, notice how the models look in them. Most of the wide/barrel shaped cuts are not very forgiving. I do think the slimmer cuts look much nicer, but that's just me.

I think really wide or thick denim needs a tight or cropped top half to look decent and mom jeans really dig in in a stiff, uncomfortable way. Skinnies can be uncomfortable, it depends where you buy them, some are as slinky and soft as a second skin.

expatmover · 27/04/2022 22:46

High rise skinnies here!

I'd look awful in baggy or wide leg jeans.

ISpyCobraKai · 27/04/2022 22:49

I love mine and I'm keeping them, I have skinny dungarees too.

Zazdar · 28/04/2022 00:20

Who wants to wear tight clothes?

Evidently, enough people to make it worthwhile for shops to stock them.

90sBritPop · 30/04/2022 11:42

Who wants to wear tight clothes?

Who wants to wear baggy clothes?

It’s almost as if everyone likes different things 🤣

MovingatPace · 30/04/2022 12:18

I’m enjoying the change - never been the kind to find one cut snd stick to it till I die - of boredom in this was the case!

Fizbosshoes · 30/04/2022 12:31

Who wants to wear tight clothes?

I am v short, with no defined waist. I like part of my outfit to be fairly fitted to give me some shape. Otherwise I look like a tombliboo.

RosesandMoonshine · 30/04/2022 12:50

Ideally i would like some skinnies with a waist that doesn't dig in - I have a small waist and am slim but i have high hips/short torso so usually need a 10 even though my waist is 25 and hips are 33 Confused
Then, the rest of the jeans are baggy. It really get me down so I run away to dresses.

Does anyone else have this issue? Or am I a freak?

I like the Joules girlfriend jeans too as they are that middle ground between skinny and a looser, more summery cut. I had to send mine back though due to the above issue.

Sexnotgender · 30/04/2022 12:52

Will I fuck be parting with my skinny jeans because some marketing knob says so.

They suit me and I look ridiculous in anything wide as I’m really short.

Gwenhwyfar · 01/05/2022 12:05

I don't like them any more. If they're not in fashion they make my legs look like sausages, but there is no alternative around, I can't see straight legs anywhere any more and I can't wear ripped ones or those massive flares.

Gwenhwyfar · 01/05/2022 13:52

Thanks Rampant, but I don't have access to M&S.

Delatron · 01/05/2022 15:51

I was just thinking the other day I can’t even be arsed to go shopping as I hate all the baggy jean and tight crop top trend. It looks awful on me. I’m an 8 but not much waist and quite straight up and down. My legs are my best feature, my tummy the worst so why would I accentuate my worst and hide my best.

I’ve tried and I do have some loser fitting jeans without going full on Mum. Girlfriend I think they are. But they only look good with flip flops or sandals in the summer.

How do you style baggy jeans in the winter so you don’t look like a tramp? I wear a big puffer and hiking boots for dog walking. They look good with leggings/ tight jeans but not baggy jeans.

I do love my flares but they are tight in the right places so flattering.

MummyJ12 · 01/05/2022 16:07

🙋🏻‍♀️Me! Although I’m wearing more biker style skinnies at the moment. Style never goes out of fashion. Wear what you love 💗

dumdumduuuummmmm · 01/05/2022 16:54

There is personal preference and there is fashion. Wear what you want if you don't care whether you look fashionable or not. Sometimes what is on trend happens to fit with your personal likes and what suits you. Sometimes not. There are no rules other than that. If you want to stay on trend and look current but don't like something, then modify it to fit your preferences. So for example, wear narrow straight leg jeans and not the spray on skinny. You will look more current but still perhaps within the parameters of what you feel comfortable in. It's all up to you
