C'mon who's still loving skinny jeans?

I look good in them, make me look so much better than wide legs and baggy jeans. It can't be just me. Surely? Grin

Me!!!

I had very wide hips/top of thighs but slim legs so wide legs just make me look like I have thigh then ankle and nothing in between!

I much prefer oversized tops too so skinnier is needed for the bottom half or I look like a rectangle.

I do have a pair of straight legs and they’re nice in the summer with a more fitted top but generally, skinnies all the way!

Skinnies/leggings look better anyway with trainers for walking and I seem to be doing a lot of that recently.

simplesooze · 27/04/2022 10:18

Wish i coulf wear mom or wide leg but i dont look good in a tight top

MrMrsJones · 27/04/2022 10:19

I love my skinny jeans, I won't give them up for anyone

toomanytwinkies · 27/04/2022 10:22

Also I don’t get the parsnip legs thing. Aren’t all legs naturally parsnip shape. I’m never in my swimsuit thinking, oh no my parsnip legs 🤣🤣🤣

JanisMoplin · 27/04/2022 10:23

I wear wide leg trousers but only M and S Sienns straight jeans when I do wear jeans. I can't explain this. IMO mom jeans mostly look good on people who are not moms! Or at least don't have mum tums.

AnotherTroyforHertoBurn · 27/04/2022 10:44

I think I need to go up a size in skinnies, I have been wearing an 8 for the last six years, just this year they are starting to feel a bit sausagey on me, I haven't put on any weight, so either I am changing shape, or constant washing and drying has shrunk them ever so slightly.

Thoughts please.

TokyoSushi · 27/04/2022 10:46

I reckon I wear mine about 25 days per month!

5128gap · 27/04/2022 11:02

Thousands of us. Since learning on here that 'no one wears them anymore' I've took note of this and can honestly say, that they are worn everywhere, cities and towns, day and evening by women and girls of all ages. Yes, other styles are around too, but skinnies are for too prevalent amongst even the trendiest of people to be considered 'dated'. I like them, but wear other styles too. (Other than mom, which don't look as good on me.)

NaturalScone · 27/04/2022 12:39

I also agree with another post which mentioned looking taller and slimmer in skinny jeans. I am slim but if I wear bootlegs or wide trousers I look a lot wider and shorter. They aren't balancing, they just make my legs look stumpier.

The only thing I don't like about skinny jeans is when they're too thin and show too much anatomy Grin

I took DD (12) to see Little Mix last week. Very young crowd, with lots of much younger than me mums. About 50/50 skinnies/hideous baggy things. So I'd say a good mix. DD loves her skinnies and refuses to give them up. I'm very hourglass and look awful in anything wider than a relaxed skinny. Next power stretch or lift slim make the most of my legs, hold in the baggy belly and don't get soggy or dusty. Style to me is flattering as much as anything. If a trend is horribly unflattering, then at 44 I'm not even looking.

We were in agreement on one thing. Boys everywhere in unflattering skin tight clothes and voluminous hair, girls dressed like huge bags of potatoes. I can't put my finger on it but there's something in that!

This! If we believed MN then no one wears them anymore but Ive been looking too and loads of women are wearing them.

RoofFlower · 27/04/2022 12:59

I like them on other people but I look bloody horrendous in them. Legs too big ☹️

WoodenClock · 27/04/2022 12:59

I'm still wearing them sometimes, but I don't love them now, for all the reasons it took me a long time to adopt them in the first place. I don't actually think they suit many people, but they became so ubiquitous we got used to that.

The reasons I'm still wearing them:

  • I don't know what footwear to wear with e.g. boyfriend jeans other than trainers, although that's fine now it's getting warmer.
  • similarly, most other styles don't seem to work with boots, though I'm sure I wore boots with jeans "before". In cold weather I don't want bare ankles!
  • Wide leg and baggy styles are rubbish when it's wet.
  • Straight leg and mum jeans look horribly frumpy to me. Like my actual mum wore in the 80s.
  • The styles I like, faded/distressed and baggy, don't work for a slightly dressy night out in the same way that back skinnies do.
uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/04/2022 13:35

Me! They suit my short legs and I hate jeans flapping around my ankles

JoeGoldberg · 27/04/2022 13:36

Me, all day, every day, forever.

MoiraQueen · 27/04/2022 13:44

I love skinnies and skinny flares.
But high waisted mom jeans, just no. I never thought the day would come when I would say that jeans are too high waisted (I have a stupidly long torso), but that day is here. I just look ridiculous in them, they just aren't flattering, on me anyway.

Since learning on here that 'no one wears them anymore

Written by posters who swan around London in camel coats, tan boots and carry handbage that cost £££££.

Meanwhile those of us in the provinces and the countryside where it rains a lot have to wear something more practical.

I am in a crowded London cafe right now and it appears to be about 50-50. The young ones seem to be wearing carrot or barrel shapes. My legs are my best feature, so not going to give up wearing slim legs at least.

RitaFaircloughsWig · 27/04/2022 15:19

What on earth are carrot jeans?😂

notanicepersonapparently · 27/04/2022 15:22

Are they what used to be called peg top? Or have a couple of pleats at the waist band but taper down to the ankle? Or is that mom jeans? And what even are dad jeans, girlfriends, boyfriend? Are they all the same thing really? Does anyone know?

RampantIvy · 27/04/2022 15:27

I'm glad to hear it @JanisMoplin

Chaoslatte · 27/04/2022 15:34

I’m sticking with them too. Wide leg and mom jeans are very physically unflattering on me (pear shape) and straight leg and bootcut make me look frumpy.

MorrisZapp · 27/04/2022 15:35

Love them. I often buy mens ones in charity shops, the pockets are deeper and the denim often better quality.

I love mine with flat sandals, so flattering. I look less good with trainers on but I can't see how to remedy that.

planetme · 27/04/2022 15:35

I love them

Even though my 13 yo says they're "cheugy"

(Tik tok generation speak for unfashionable I think 😬 )

@RitaFaircloughsWig

A: As the name suggests, carrot pants are shaped like a carrot, wide at the top and tapered toward the bottom — rather like harem pants, but not as baggy. They are a trendy women's style this summer, and I am starting to see some fashion-forward men's lines doing them for fall.28 Jul 2010

Man they took some time to catch on. Grin
