How much grey (hair) do you have?

Just that.

I am mid 60s (but taken for being much younger- sorry but and looking younger runs in the family. Adult DD gets IDd all the time.)

Anyway- I've always had some subtle highlights in my dark blonde hair, and now that I've gone a shade deeper with them for more 'warmth' I'm a bit shocked at how much grey I have ( the grey always looked more like light blonde.)

Hairdresser says I am 50% grey.

:(

100% platinum silver super curly fox - mid 50's and get loads of compliments especially from younger women.
I find women who dye their hair rather sad when they are obviously 60+ and have that telltale white stripe down their parting.

I don't think it's sad to dye your hair as you get older. Grey isn't flattering on everyone. I think if it's too dark it isn't that great though. Do whatever makes you feel good.
ArabeI · 01/04/2022 23:20

That's such a nice colour @Pangolin44

Lunificent · 01/04/2022 23:25

I’m 51. Till recently I just had a few patches of grey. Since chemo, it’s grown back entirely salt and pepper. I’m not keen, though the problem is more the texture than the colour.

WouldBeGood · 01/04/2022 23:25

100% but dyed. I’m 52 and working on going natural white

DwightShrutesgirlfriend · 01/04/2022 23:26

55, never dyed my hair, I have a few stray greys.

40's and I have none. My mother is late 60's and only just started going grey in the last 5 years. She's probably only 10% grey now if that and has never coloured her hair.

The only place I've noticed a grey hair has been my pubes! Only saw that last week to my shock and horror as I was doing some in between wax maintenance.

Obelisk · 01/04/2022 23:28

45 and no grey. My granny (90s) has most of her natural colour even now so I’m hoping I have her genes.

DeeCeeCherry · 01/04/2022 23:28

I'm late 50s with a young looking face (family genes) & I'd say 80% grey now.

I'm not ready to rock grey hair just yet so hydrogen peroxide to cover grey nicely + non-chemical dye woeks for me.

I started going grey around age 48. Slow onset, at 55 greys started coming through very fast.

sophienelisse · 01/04/2022 23:46

About ten greys at the front. Am 42

LOVE that!
CanIPleaseHaveOne · 02/04/2022 02:59

@Cocolapew

A lot. I'm 53 and its still has dark patches at the back but it looks whiter if I grow my layers down
Wow - lovely
CanIPleaseHaveOne · 02/04/2022 03:01

@Pangolin44

100% at 49.
Beautiful - am jealous!
Anna197264 · 02/04/2022 14:01

@Pangolin44 you look amazing.

WhereIsMyGlasses · 02/04/2022 14:43

I love natural grey hair, it can look very beautiful and elegant. I'm 43 with dark hair and around 25% white. It's mostly two big temple stripes with some scattered around the rest. I don't plan on dyeing it, but I do think everyone should do whatever makes them feel good where their hair is concerned, and not bother about what society expects!

notacooldad · 02/04/2022 14:54

Near 57.
I highlight my hair because it's dark and greasy if I dont.
I asked the hairdresser earlier this week if she can spot any greys poking through and she says not yet. I do have two random greys on my eyebrows though and they bug the life out of me.
My dad is in his late 70s and still blond. Mum went grey at around 70.

ohleboulot · 02/04/2022 16:06

@Pangolin44 You're gorgeous, great hair !

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/04/2022 21:26

I asked my hairdresser this question today, and he said 5%. I stopped colouring in October last year, and am 49. I have no stripe or roots, just scattered pure white hairs against dark brown.

thanksamillion · 02/04/2022 22:22

This is mine. I'm looking forward to loosing the dyed ends and then growing it longer. I'm 43.

WouldBeGood · 02/04/2022 23:20

That’s lovely @thanksamillion! I admire you for growing it out; I can’t face that so am going lighter gradually.

I'm just going 50-ish.

Just do yourself.

builtonrocks · 05/04/2022 04:12

Age 46 with about ten strands at each temple. I'm fine with them, after seeing friends struggle with roots I'm ignoring them, I feel I have much less grey than all of my similar age friends (and relatives).

Crackersnack · 05/04/2022 15:38

@ArabeI the thick wiry whitish hair is quite possibly your hair's version of grey. For lots of redheads going 'grey' means losing the red pigment and what's left is just non-pigment. So you might go pale rather than grey.
