How much grey (hair) do you have?

Just that.

I am mid 60s (but taken for being much younger- sorry but and looking younger runs in the family. Adult DD gets IDd all the time.)

Anyway- I've always had some subtle highlights in my dark blonde hair, and now that I've gone a shade deeper with them for more 'warmth' I'm a bit shocked at how much grey I have ( the grey always looked more like light blonde.)

Hairdresser says I am 50% grey.

:(

I find this fascinating as am very allergic to PPD so have no options with hair dye really.

I'm 41 and have a couple of visable greys but nothing much.. I have dark brown hair naturally so it does show.

I find it pretty hard to see them as I love my hair and colouring and see it as the end of my youth so lovely to hear that others don't feel like that.

I do see some pics of grey hair that looks fab however very rare they look youthful.

DramaAlpaca · 01/04/2022 17:41

I'm late 50s and have just one small bit of grey that's appeared in the last year. It's in a daft place, at the top of my crown, but doesn't really show as I'm naturally dark blonde and it's hidden by highlights.

NarcKid · 01/04/2022 17:55

I'm mid 50s and stopped dying my hair as I couldn't get to the hairdresser in lockdown. I've got a sprinkling all over my head - I'd guess about 20%. My greys seem to be particularly sparkly so I just treat them as highlights in an otherwise dark mouse head of hair. I rather like them.

MrsPsmalls · 01/04/2022 17:56

60 and none at all. Its bizarre. But my Dad was the same. He now has about 30% aged 85

ThatsNotItAtAll · 01/04/2022 18:01

Definitely genetic. I'm about 30% white, rather than grey, at 48. It is noticeable but blends in with my darkish blond natural hair colour - I get compliments on it (far more than when I used to have it coloured up until 3 years ago) and have been asked several times where I had it "done" 🤣

I spotted my first white hair at 19 but only had the occasional one until my late 30s.

OdeToSadDisco · 01/04/2022 18:02

I got my first grey at 29 and was really freaked out... but I've only just got my second at 41!

Chishnfips · 01/04/2022 18:04

I'm half your age OP and totally grey. Totally love it.

SuperSocks · 01/04/2022 18:09

I'm 33 and maybe 5% grey? Very very dark hair and they're bright white which isn't ideal. I do henna my hair every month or so but that just turns them copper for a few days and then they fade back to white again. I take after my mum who's been grey as long as I can remember. My dad is in his 70s and only started greying these past couple of years!!

ISpyCobraKai · 01/04/2022 18:10

More than I'd like so I dye it!
I'm 44.

dizzydizzydizzy · 01/04/2022 18:51

None. I'm 55.

user1471453601 · 01/04/2022 18:59

To answer to your question id say I'm 50% silver 50% dark brown. The silver is at the front.

As an aside, a tan looks so much deeper (and very nice) when you are silver.

On the down side, I find I must condition my hair every time I wash as the silver can get quiet wiry, but the dark brown is greasy, so it's more upkeep to keep it in good condition .

ArabeI · 01/04/2022 19:00

None. Almost 40.

I have found a single long white hair, though, in the past few months. I have light-ish strawberry blonde hair, so it's 'hidden' I was tempted to pull it out, but left it. I'm on the lookout for more now!

Housetreecar · 01/04/2022 19:02

About 35% according to my hairdresser but have absolutely no intention of finding out for sure

ArabeI · 01/04/2022 19:04

It's also thick and wiry, so I'm wondering if it will all be like that unless it's an anomaly.

Didiplanthis · 01/04/2022 19:08

47 and about 90-95 %..I was dyeing my hair to cover noticeable grey by 30 but it grows so fast I was needing to do it every 2 weeks. I couldn't keep up with it. I dont love it but being fat and looking knackered all the time bothers me more tbh... the combination is not great for self esteem...

Fitterbyfifty · 01/04/2022 19:09

Nearly fifty and almost none (2 or 3 hairs if you look closely! BUT I have lost half my hair and it is so thin. I would gladly swap for thick, grey hair!

AvaCallanach · 01/04/2022 19:11

51 and about 5 percent over the last year or so. Still individual strands, on my crown. My hair is almost black. Not dyed it yet. Can't be arsed!

cloudtears · 01/04/2022 19:16

Name changed as this is not about me.

My teenager has a few grey strands amongst her thick, dark hair. I was worried at first, but it's quite normal apparently and at the moment she's not interested in dyeing it or even using a colour shampoo. It isn't noticeable.

WilsonMilson · 01/04/2022 19:19

45 and none at all. Hairdresser always comments on it. Have naturally dark blonde hair, get highlights.

Cocolapew · 01/04/2022 19:19

A lot. I'm 53 and its still has dark patches at the back but it looks whiter if I grow my layers down

Sorry I didn't mean to put 3 photos up Blush🤦

NotAScoobyToBeSeen · 01/04/2022 19:21

@cloudtears I had a few random white hairs as a teen as well and now at nearly 40 I have a few more but not many at all, under 10 hairs but I have dark hair and they're near the front for the most part so quite noticeable.

That's interesting to hear. Thanks.

NeedleNoodle3 · 01/04/2022 19:28

I’m 53 and I think I have about 10% grey, what i have noticed is that my natural brown colour is duller now so I dye it once a year and do my roots every few weeks.
