How much grey (hair) do you have?

Just that.

I am mid 60s (but taken for being much younger- sorry but and looking younger runs in the family. Adult DD gets IDd all the time.)

Anyway- I've always had some subtle highlights in my dark blonde hair, and now that I've gone a shade deeper with them for more 'warmth' I'm a bit shocked at how much grey I have ( the grey always looked more like light blonde.)

Hairdresser says I am 50% grey.

:(

I'm mid 60s and my hair is a strange shade of mousey grey, DM's was the same. I do have 2 bits of proper grey down the sides which I have had for about 20 years, the mousey grey has just been a gradual change over the years from the dark blonde of my youth.

Bakingwithmyboys · 01/04/2022 20:57

35 and my roots are pretty much grey. I dye my hair to cover them but wish I had the confidence to stop. They have become more noticeable in the last 6 months.

Cheesechips · 01/04/2022 21:08

37 and none yet. But then it's very hard to tell as I have fine/fair hair anyway. I have it highlighted so it's probably hidden too.

ICantRideABike · 01/04/2022 21:08

Age 50 now, decided in 2014 to stop dying my hair. Last couple of years it’s gone greyer. Took me two years to grow out and another two before I learned to love my greys.

45 and a good sprinkling of salt. Possibly 25% white.

MarshaBradyo · 01/04/2022 21:13

47 and and a few strands but still overall blonde pretty much

HelloDulling · 01/04/2022 21:18

About 60%, and I’m 45. I started getting them in my 20s, and they keep on coming!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 01/04/2022 21:20

I live my grey hair. I’ve got a centre parted straight bob.

It’s silver at the front and temples, the bits that frame the face. People ask me if it’s streaked.

AncientofMuMu · 01/04/2022 21:24

I'm early 40s and haven't got any yet. My oldest sister is early 50s and only has 1 or 2 so I'm not really expecting any for a few years yet, I think grey hair looks awesome though and will embrace it when the time comes.

Herejustforthisone · 01/04/2022 21:25

I misread the OP that she gets IDd all the time in her mid 60s 😂.

MakingShiteMemories · 01/04/2022 21:26

I'm 50 and am blonde. According to the hairdresser, I'm about 20% grey. It's sheer genetics, as my sister (also blonde) is 4 years younger and is almost entirely grey. My life has been a lot more stressful than hers, too, so it's evidently just one of those things.

jeannie46 · 01/04/2022 21:34

Thin streak of grey at right temple. 75
One uncle black haired, hardly any grey, right until he died at 74
Another totally grey at 26. Lived to 93 though.

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/04/2022 21:42

Late 40s, a mild smattering (3% maybe..) grey at the front, very few at the back.

Had a few for the last 10 years, but they seem to be taking their time.

I have found a few white hairs when waxing my bits though 😬😳😱🤯 I am NOT looking forward to dyeing my area, might have to laser before it’s TOO LATE

PuppyMonkey · 01/04/2022 21:43

Don’t really understand OP, you’re mid sixties and a bit surprised you have a lot of grey hair? Confused

Either dye it or disguise it or go gracefully greyor whatever.

I’m mid 50s and have had grey since my 30s and now have completely grey hair and it looks ok!

PlainJaneEyre · 01/04/2022 21:45

@Chasingsquirrels

I'm very nearly 50. First grey hairs late 20's.
yes but you have no wrinkles 😂
Chasingsquirrels · 01/04/2022 21:46

🤣🤣🤣

LaWench · 01/04/2022 21:48

I don't know exactly as I dye it every 3 weeks but I expect it's 50-70% Grey at 41.
First grey hair at 19. Thanks Mum.

PlainJaneEyre · 01/04/2022 21:48

@SusieAndTheBannedShes it does depend on genetics. I have dark Irish genetics and my Dad looked Italian. He had hardly any grey hairs when he died admittedly he was only mid 60s. I am about 30 % and get highlights and tint on the roots. I am 62.

Pangolin44 · 01/04/2022 21:51

100% at 49.

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 21:53

Nearly 40 and have the odd one or two but I pull them out when I see them.

CPL593H · 01/04/2022 22:02

A lot of grey mid 60s is far from unusual.

Rememberitwell · 01/04/2022 22:07

Late 50s and less than 10% I reckon.

troppibambini6 · 01/04/2022 22:22

None yet. I'm 44.

Emmelina · 01/04/2022 22:23

41 with dark brown hair and a fair few individual greys that sit light silver throughout my hair. Apart from at my temples, I almost have a Narcissa Malloy thing going on there!

SilentBob · 01/04/2022 22:24

45 years old and I could get away with saying 0% but as I am a very curly redhead, the greys are probably lurking in there somewhere, along with the bright ginger hairs, the dark red hairs etc and not be noticeable. I don't due my hair. My grandad did not have grey hair by the time he died (84) and my dad (alive, 72) doesn't either. They were/are both redheads and their hair just faded to slightly more strawberry blonds.
