Well… it’s certainly not a coat dress

susiebluebell · 25/04/2022 18:19

That it's not! 😁 I think she looks amazing. Doesn't matter that I have no idea what the actual garments are.

womaniswomaniswoman · 25/04/2022 12:44

Good lord, what is this hideousness on Kate's head?

Just read that Shaun the Sheep has been reported as missing in action. Grin

MotherofPearl · 25/04/2022 16:38

Beatrice Borromeo at a Dior gala in Venice for the biennale.

She's a brand ambassador and obviously this is High Fashion but I can't say I love the dress, though she looks spectacular and I do love the earrings!

An adoring gaze from her partner.

MotherofPearl · 25/04/2022 20:19

Yes @Alwayscheerful Pierre does look smitten.

SenecaFallsRedux · 25/04/2022 23:21

I usually like Kate's hats but that hat/headband thing looks like a cross between a 1950s hospital matron's headgear and hand towel. Very odd.

banivani · 26/04/2022 15:51

Well I was reading the paper today and there was an article about the new royal transparency regarding their finances - a new practice inspired by the Danish court. So some figures to interest the thread:

The Swedish court gets 150 million SEK of the tax payers' money every year. About half goes to care for the castles and they've always been secretive about the other half. But now you can read that the king and queen get 8 million, CPV and her family get 4,5 million, PCP and family 1,1 million. Madeleine gets nothing. The differences depend on their roles and the article says it's understood that women have higher costs for clothes.

Then they have a substantial private fortune dating back to Carl XIV Johan (the first Bernadotte) and from various princesses who married in and brought money.

MotherofPearl · 26/04/2022 17:33

That is interesting banivani. I wonder how those sums compare to other European RF.

MotherofPearl · 26/04/2022 18:21

Lots to see on NMR. Here's my round up.

CPM is in Bangladesh in standard issue RF visiting hot country gear (khakis and a linen shirt).

Sofia in spotty LK Bennett. Not a great photo but I like what I can see of the dress.

Sophie: another day; another floral dress. Actually I like the shape of this but really dislike the handbag.

Maireas · 26/04/2022 18:28

Is Sophie's bag raffia? The floral dresses are fine, fairly low key and cool in a hot climate.
CPM - do those people realise she's recently had a birthday?

OP posts:
MotherofPearl · 26/04/2022 18:51

@Maireas Grin I'm sure she thinks they're there to celebrate that very fact. CPM's 50th 50th birthday party...

susiebluebell · 27/04/2022 07:39

@banivani Interesting, and also to get the GBP you divide it by ~10, so those figures are even more modest (!) than they initially seem. I found myself thinking that it's very modest for the King of Sweden to live on 8m a year, but it's actually only about 800k.

The private fortune notwithstanding...

KillingMeDeftly · 27/04/2022 08:36

And heir(ess) to the throne CPV gets about £400k. You can be sure that Prince Charles would not be able to live on that!

paradyning · 27/04/2022 08:53

I'm not the style of sure Sophie's floral maxis are flattering without a good bra.

I really am not a fan of raffia mule wedges either. They remind me of my Nonnas.

I think she looks like she has had a 'refresh' too! Her eyes look like they may have been lifted as she's delve looked that cat eye look. She certainly looks refreshed for what must be a difficult tour to handle.

But she managed to get Eddie in a single breaster again so not all bad.

LadyEloise10 · 27/04/2022 09:13

I agree @paradyning, I think Sophie has had a "refresh". She looks ever so slightly different.
Edward is still heeding the styleistas on here re single breasted suits. Smile
Those wedges are quite high for walkabouts. I know I'd stumble 🙈

( i wish Mumsnet would bring back the embarrassed emoji with the red cheeks, it was very useful )

LadyEloise, just type [ blush ] without the spaces. Smile

Blush
LadyEloise10 · 27/04/2022 12:36

Ok, thanks @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

KillingMeDeftly · 27/04/2022 14:48

Beatrice and Edo are in Sweden. Not a fan of the florals on her or Sofia but Edo and CP look good!

MotherofPearl · 27/04/2022 15:07

I am fed up to the back teeth of those long, long-sleeved, high-neck floral dresses now. They are so fussy. AIBU?

KillingMeDeftly · 27/04/2022 15:20

YANBU! And don't get me started on those Little House on the Prairie collars that are in now...

susiebluebell · 27/04/2022 15:40

@MotherofPearl you are not being unreasonable! Those particular two have tipped the scale into frumpy '80s throwback.

Side note though - I was peripherally involved in 'modest dressing' communities and online discussions about 10-12 years ago, and we would have KILLED to have these styles be widely available in shops then!

GrouchyKiwi · 27/04/2022 15:50

I love floral dresses but not in that style. There's far too much fabric involved.

Edo and CP do indeed look fiiiine.

MotherofPearl · 27/04/2022 16:14

Thanks for the solidarity. I mean, would it kill them to wear a sharply tailored suit?

Anyway, I suppose the trend will eventually wane.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 27/04/2022 16:30

The Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Anne on a rare joint engagement today. They look like they get on well together. Kate's suit is a good shape on her, although I'm not 100% on the colour. I wonder just how long Anne has owned her suit? I know she lives to rewear.
