Agree the floral jumpsuit is lovely but it would have been better with other shoes.

That cream jacket has a lovely turned up collar which looks great in the headshots but it is the most unflattering jacket ever. In her bid to get a waistline she has ended up looking like a sack of potatoes.

I really can't see any redeemable feature in Sophie's dress and she can look fab. A big no from me. I think a body language expert would have an interesting opinion on the Monaco pic..

Maireas · 17/04/2022 19:31

I like Meghan's cream jacket, but I agree with you, @Choux, that the fit isn't right. I really don't like jeans with stilletos either, it never looks quite right, somehow.
Charlene's dress is pretty, and I'm glad she's back with her children. Fortunately Gabriella's hair has grown back!

Not sure about this top either - she looks like she's about to step onto the ice to skate her free program!

I’m not mad about the blousy florals and headbands, but I know they’re what’s in style and I own several and am also blessed of nork

Easter Church services for the Danes. Fred looking a little rough dishevelled. No sign of the birthday girl.

This was a cute shot from yesterday.

More of Daisy. Wearing the Fabergé necklace with little mini eggs that she wears every Easter Sunday.

Fred always looks like he's been out on the town the night before! Daisy's furs are not going anywhere but considering they're probably about 50 years old then she may as well wear them.

Nnique · 17/04/2022 20:37

I was slightly incorrect - she doesn’t wear it every Easter Sunday (although she has worn it many times) but only ever wears it on that day.

Lovely to see Daisy - and her egg necklace, which is quite charming. I'm inclined to agree with you, Deftly and suspect that it's quite an old coat.
Fred. What is going on? And where is the Single White Princess?

Goodness, I have a lot to catch up on! Just back from a week in rural Scotland with no WiFi or indeed 4G. Nice to have lots of new photos to look through.

Chewbecca · 17/04/2022 21:03

I like the thingy Kate had on her head today, but at a glance I keep seeing Priti Patel.

Nnique · 17/04/2022 21:21

An interesting historical snippet: here is a link to a photo of the Danish Royal Family’s ‘Golden Egg with Hen’ which is thought to have been the inspiration for the very first Imperial Fabergé egg.

Egg

Made around 1720 in France, it was given as a gift from Charlotte of Orléans to England’s Queen Charlotte. It later came into the Danish Royal Family by inheritance from Queen Marie Sophie Frederikke (married to Danish King Frederick VI).

Ivory shell - gold shell - gold hen - Crown - ring.

The first Fabergé egg - picture attached - given by Tsar Alexander III to his wife, Maria Feodorovna (Princess Dagmar of Denmark) followed the same format: Gold shell covered in opaque white enamel - gold yolk - gold hen - Imperial Crown - miniature ruby pendant on chain (the final two pieces have since been lost).

Argh the photo messed up my careful formatting.

And the link doesn’t work either! Let me try once more:

Interesting bit of history there, Nnique. I wonder about the provenance of Daisy's eggs?

Where is the Single White Princess you ask ?! 🤔 Marie was recently at a foodie event in Paris called ‘Mad About Denmark’ which presumably promotes all things Danish to the French. Her outfit is very similar to that of the lady on the far left. One NMR commentator remarked :

Marie always seems to be the poor stepsister of Mary, convicted to the cheaper brands, but most of all, to the lesser stylist

Which made me wonder how Marie is perceived amongst the Danes? Yellow Pack Mary or valued ambassador?

Thank you for this @Nnique!

Nnique · 17/04/2022 21:36

@Maireas They are by Fabergé as well. It was customary in the Russian Imperial Family for the women (and possibly girls too, I suppose?) to receive these more modestly sized miniature eggs as gifts at Easter as well as the fabulously grand eggs we all know of, and the Danish Royal Family has ended up with some of these in their collection, several of which are pictured

I know! First the shockingly ugly engagement ring and now mean comments.

Interesting Queen Sofia of Spain has a collection of small, presumably Faberge, eggs that she wears at Easter too. She was originally a Princess of Greece & Denmark before she married Juan Carlos, so maybe hers and Daisy’s come from the same family tradition?

It must be very hard to make gold and precious gems look ugly, but - somehow - they've managed it.
