WWW's six week ten year younger bootcamp WEEK 1, 2008

This is week 1 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Yes, no 4. And at the 'wrong-end' of my 30s so quite a bonus to be feeling OK!

Might I join, think you? Although presently up duff, I note I would not be the first pregnant bootcamper (greetings, duchess), and could really use the motivation to do something other than eat chocolate (or, indeed, the other half of the cupcake that is currently lurking at my elbow). Actually, haven't been too awful (apart from the chocolate, which I now require on a daily basis, having been hum-ho about it before) - still cycling in and out of work everyday (I'll be 30 weeks on thurs) (though this is partly because round ligament pain means I can't walk for more than five minutes, o frustration) and generally doing ok with veg and sleeping and so forth. My downfall is water - must try harder.

ellesbelles · 08/01/2008 17:26

evening all, right day 1 update

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter (wear olay sun stuff everyday - spf 15)
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it (Only had one drink in the last year and a half)
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer (walked around town and then home - total 1 hour)
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day (on 1 litre so far)
  • Apply body cream as often as possible(I am rubbish at this so need to get better)
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff (got the flexitol with my Boots points today, so first try tonight)
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos (again rubbish at this but will try my best)
  • Eat healthily (been on a healthy eating thing for a week so tick)
  • Be happy (will be happier when some of the lard starts coming off!)
moonmother · 08/01/2008 18:08

heres my day 2 update

Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter-in my nivea moisturiser and lipgloss

  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it-only drink at weekends unless I'm really stressed
  • Walking is important, a small amount everyday if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer-12425 steps/5.68 miles
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day-1.5 ltrs (I'm getting there)
  • Apply body cream as often as possible-having a lovely bath with my Sanctuary Xmas bits later...they're body lotion is lovely
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff-I use Calgel handcream ,apply it regularly during the day,my hands have been suffering from the cold
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos-early night for me tonight,am planning on watching The Mistresses in bed
  • Eat healthily-had bagel with mushrooms for brekkie, chicken salad for lunch with fruit and small bowl of stew for dinner
-- Be happy-feeling pretty good today
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/01/2008 19:59

Welcome love&squalor and 'Ooooooh' at the cycling. That's more than enough exercise at 30wks.

Well done EB & MM, another good day.

I've eaten toast & marmite, ham, cheese, cream crackers, raisins, dates, apple & banana for lunch (avec les DCs!), chicken wrapped in ham with quinoa & green beans and a slice of Christmas cake. Lots of water, 2 coffees. I will probably have some of my scorched almonds whilst watching Hugh & his chooks.

Mucked out chickens & ponies and hefted lots of bales around but didn't do any proper walking because of aforementioned DCs. I forgot to put my Moron on this morning anyway. Duh!

Deffo having early night as I have to drive everyone everywhere in the morning in a horrible car that my mechanic has lent me whilst he fixes the love of my life.

Oh yes, and face, hands & body well slathered.

unknownrebelbang · 08/01/2008 20:35

Hello everyone.

  • Sunscreen - tick.
  • No booze - none today, but a can of Magners was imbibed last night. Cheers DH.
  • Walking - 45 mins ex bike.
  • Lots of water - well, plenty of weak tea.
  • Apply body cream as often as possible, no.
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too - will do at bedtime.
  • Go to bed early - was in bed by 11pm, good for ome. DS2 bounced into our bedroom at 1.30 am and announced "good morning" at the top of his voice (think baby gorilla for the bouncing, lol) - still trying to work it out - he should be five hours behind, not five hours in front!
  • Eat healthily. too much chocolate around I'm afraid.
  • Be happy - sadly not. Received some tragic news today - the mum of one of DS2's schoolfriend appears to have taken her own life over the weekend. I'm still in shock tbh.
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/01/2008 20:56

unknown - how truly awful for the family. My friends father killed himself a few years ago and it's been desperately hard for them all to come to terms with it. Is DS2 OK?

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2008 21:04

so sorry about your awful news unknown.
batters, sorry about your odd attack too, hair gel, weird

I must win the prize for longest commute today:
FIVE HOURS. 3 in and 2 home. Fking train companies. Fking Central fking line, moan moan

But hey, onwards

2 pieces toast and marmite with butter at work forgot granola again
smoked salmon sandwich
grapes
cherries
strawberries
apple and sultana bar
packet raisins
broccoli, green beans and asparagus from M&S
haddock thing from M&S, thought I'd picked up sea bass in rosemary so was most puzzled when dh put haddock on my plate but hey, it was late, I wasn't paying attention and it was v nice anyway

third night no booze
plenty water
walking on commute must get moron fixed
will be in bed by 10.30 for sure

well done everyone.

Yes it is very difficult to deal with the aftermath.

DS2 hasn't said a word (a friend/parent who spends time with the girl and her dad informed me). I've not broached it with him yet (he's a bit niggly with being overtired after the flight), so other than asking (often) about his schoolday generally, I've left it for now.

I've not seen the child myself, but DH, a child in their class and another parent have all remarked on how "normal" (loud and boisterous) she is, so it may be that nothing has actually been said in class, and I don't want to inform him whilst he's a bit offkey.

Not sure that makes sense, but I know what I mean.

unknownrebelbang · 08/01/2008 21:11

oh that commute's a killer www.

And I meant to comment on the hairgel thing - how strange!

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2008 21:12

Oh poor girl unknown, how awfully sad.

DS2 is 11. TBH I'm not surprised at the girl's reaction at all, given her personality, and I do find that children can be very matter of fact about things. It is very early days too.

I just find it all so tragic.

He will. For all his boisterousness, he's the more sensitive of the three. Will have to watch DS3 too, as he's in the same class.

Am expecting some rather difficult questions over the next couple of days.

unknownrebel - that's awful news. Difficult to tread carefully round that one so I hope it goes ok.
Batters - I was once accosted by a group of what I took to be 8/9 year olds and they threw Hula Hoops at me! It was then I realised I must be getting old (and that was about 10 years ago )
Sobernow - how exciting about the blog, can we have a link please?
Duchess - so glad that you're feeling great through this pregnancy.
I may have a small cake this afternoon as ds started his settling in period at nursery this morning and he managed like a trooper. In fact he hardly gave me a backwards glance so my earlier nerves have been replaced with a slight disapointment that he wasn't more clingy [never happy emotion]. Still have lost a couple of pounds since Christmas so if I walk the long way to the cake shop.....

That's awful news unknown. How very sad.

WWW - god the horrors of commuting. What do you do on the train to fill the time?

Lovely to see loads of new people.

Duchess - No 4?! Well Done!

I am sulking at all this talk of M&S. [huff]

And erm no, I'm not bootcamping, although I did find my pedometer at the bottom of my work bag this morning. Back Monday. [no motivation now UK guests gone and no impeding trip to UK booked]

cerys · 09/01/2008 09:28

batters, what a great compliment.Do you think she is hoping you will pass on the fabulous coat to her?

unknownrebel, how sad. DD2 has two girls in her class whose mums died (not suicide). It has led to a few "you're not going to die, are you Mummy?" conversations.

Duchess, you are a shining example to us all!

bamamama, LOL at walking the long way to the cake shop.

Hello to all the new people and nice to see everyone again. I am off to take DS to playgroup and then going to my WW weigh-in.

gibberish · 09/01/2008 09:32

Can I join in? Please?? Only just seen this thread and am desperate need of motivation.
