Hello, I bought this Ghost dress on Vinted to wear to a wedding. I've not worn a dress for a few years, and I've put on a bit of weight (and had two children) - and I just don't know what suits me any more.

I'm a size 12/14 and 5ft11. The dress is a large, do you think it's too big? It was a bargain, and I do love the fabric so I was considering having it taken in. Do you think that would work? Or is the shape just wrong?

Thank you!

I love the jumpsuit

chubbachub · 17/03/2022 11:02

I like it! Depending when/where the wedding is some summery wedges would be nice with this! I love the shoulder detail and the way it flows. You have a great figure OP!

Wallabyone · 17/03/2022 11:02

The first dress is fine, but does need taking in. Personally, I think it's too casual for a wedding; I would wear it with trainers and a biker.

The jumpsuit is nice-what shoes will you wear?

Flyinggeese1234 · 17/03/2022 11:22

I absolutely love the jumpsuit OP. In my opinion it needs heels though. It’s so lovely.

bettybyebye · 17/03/2022 11:31

The jumpsuit looks fabulous on you!

PinkGinBigGrin · 17/03/2022 11:43

I love the jumpsuit and would wear it with shoes like these:
And you have a great figure OP.

I would wash it, iron it and try it on with heels. It probably needs taking in a pinch under arms and on waist, but not a lot. Could you find hat/fascinator and nice shoes and bag to go with it? It is on casual side unless you dress it up with accessories.

caringcarer · 17/03/2022 11:57

Jumpsuit, red shoes and red bag with fascinator. Go to town op and ignore DH, he knows nothing.

And finally....
(Thank you for your patience!)

Hi OP I’d say, honestly, that the dress although nice, is a little too casual and everyday for a wedding. Unless you accessorise the hell out of it (spectacular shoes, beautiful bag, jacket etc).

The jumpsuit is in a different league to the dresses. With heels and the right bag it would be amazing.

If you feel it’s too much (I don’t think it is) then maybe a dress in a similar style, a bit of a wow factor is the things that’s missing from these long dresses.

Flyinggeese1234 · 18/03/2022 13:08

I hope you don’t mind me also saying but the jumpsuit complements your figure so much more too. Not everyone could wear it, and it be flattering but you totally can!

In fact, do you mind me asking where it’s from?

NinjaQueen · 18/03/2022 13:08

I think the jumpsuit is the clear winner!

Byeeefornow · 18/03/2022 13:15

Still the jumpsuit!

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 18/03/2022 13:15

Love that jumpsuit! Thats what I'd choose if I were thinner

Whilst your dresses are all very nice, they all seem a tiny bit everyday for a wedding.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 18/03/2022 13:23

Right, jumpsuit it is!

It's my sisters, but she bought it from tk maxx last week! It's a lovely fabric, thick and slightly lineny. It's not on their website, but I'll find out who actually made it.

Jumpsuit is the winner by a long way!
The ghost dress will be lovely for a summer picnic/ evening to pub

But for the wedding it’s the jumpsuit for me!
None of my male partners ever have liked my jumpsuits!

JofraArchersFastestBall · 18/03/2022 13:33

It's from (the well known brand) BCBG Max Azria Grin

I can only find it on Pinterest - but apparently there were loads in TK Maxx!

Thanks OP.

It’s so lovely.

NeedleNoodle3 · 18/03/2022 13:41

I like the jumpsuit the best. The other dresses are ones I’d wear for knocking about with flat sandals or trainers on.

Blossomtoes · 18/03/2022 13:46

The jumpsuit is fabulous. I wish I could wear something like that.

Marvellousmadness · 18/03/2022 14:10

Its not really vintage looking and perhaps a bit too casual for a wedding?

KimikosNightmare · 18/03/2022 15:32

The dresses are probably on the casual side but, lone voice here, I really, really, really don't like the jumpsuit.

Blackberrybunnet · 18/03/2022 16:48

You have a great figure. The dress looks large-ish but I quite like that slightly "floppy" look. That said, it's very casual-looking and will take a bit of accessorising to glam it up enough for a wedding, but it could be done.

DoWhatYouLike · 18/03/2022 17:09

I don't think it's special enough for a wedding. It looks more like the type of thing you might wear to a picnic in the summer.

whysoserious123 · 18/03/2022 17:29

Your figure is too GOOD for that dress. Brilliant dress for a lunch with the girls on a Thursday afternoon . You can do better especially for a wedding
