Opinions on this dress please?

Hello, I bought this Ghost dress on Vinted to wear to a wedding. I've not worn a dress for a few years, and I've put on a bit of weight (and had two children) - and I just don't know what suits me any more.

I'm a size 12/14 and 5ft11. The dress is a large, do you think it's too big? It was a bargain, and I do love the fabric so I was considering having it taken in. Do you think that would work? Or is the shape just wrong?

It's the sort of dress I would wear, I'm about the same size as you only 6 inches shorter so it wouldn't look nearly as nice on me!

You can definitely tart it up for a wedding with jewellery, nice bag & shoes.

You really need to go out of your comfort zone a bit and try dresses on that you wouldn't normally consider.

This dress is Meh. You can find something fabulous.

I think it’s nice for “Sunday in a pub” but is a bit casual for a wedding

It’s also way too big under the arms / around the bust, making your bust look smaller than I’m sure it is

A good tailoring would make it lovely for summer!

It's a good dress on you, but a bit every day for a wedding. Not sure that's it's one you could dress up with accessories but lovely for lunch out

This dress is Meh. You can find something fabulous.

It’s ok, but with your height and figure you could pull of something amazing… this is a bit frumpy.

It’s not awful by any means, it looks fine- maybe with some heels and a push em up and out bra. It seems too big /too much fabric.

This is another everyday dress - in fact even moreso.

I agree with @BOJOker that 1940s style heeled Mary Janes would look gorgeous with this dress. Coupled with a slim belt.

Reviving this thread to ask if either of these are any better? I like the shape of the black one, but not sure about the colour for a wedding... and I think the jumpsuit might be a bit much 😬

My husband isn't a fan of the jumpsuit... but he's not exactly stylish! The back is even more flamboyant though!

Thanks everyone. I've got one more option to try, once it arrives, this blue floral effort. Sounds like the jumpsuit is the front runner for now though. It's a bit outside my comfort zone - but my comfort zone is very limited, so that's probably a good thing!
