I think there's another big awards ceremony in the US tonight so that's why this year's BAFTAs aren't as starry as they usually are.

gingercat02 · 13/03/2022 19:09

Just watching the start of the BAFTA's while dinner is cooking. Shirley Bassey can still belt out a tune. Love Rebel Wilson's dress

Eaumyword · 13/03/2022 19:23

Ooh finally some glamour!
Lea Seydoux, Naomi Campbell and Salma Hayak are my favourite looks there, plus Rebel Wilson's red dress.
I loved Kate's white off the shoulder gown.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/03/2022 19:35

Sophie Hunter is my favourite so far of the Baftas outfits.

I love both of Kate's dresses pictured above, but agree there's something a bit off around the bust on both.

paradyning · 13/03/2022 20:36

I think K&W opted out as it would look frivolous given the war.
Agreed that all of her BAFTA looks have been meh

paradyning · 13/03/2022 20:38

Unless they're off to the Caribbean tomorrow early doors

chesterelly1 · 13/03/2022 20:58

I did like Sophie Hunter's dress best from that selection, not just because of my initial "ooh it's got pockets" reaction

VaginaRegina · 14/03/2022 01:52

I think I read somewhere that K&W's absence from the BAFTAs might also be to do with W being pissed off with the BBC for the Princes and the Press documentary. But it's not a BBC production AFAIK. So maybe not??

KillingMeDeftly · 14/03/2022 15:38

How childish of him if that's actually the case! Besides which it's only broadcast on the BBC - the awards are BAFTA which is completely different as far as I know.

Kate in cobalt blue, Camilla in purple.

I quite like the colour on Kate, and I really like her hat. A skirt is visible underneath, but she must have a very small, thin top on underneath.

How nice to see Princess Alexandra! Also in a nice vibrant purple shade.

I love Princess Alexandra's outfit, they're calling it blue on here, I thought it looked purple earlier. Anyway, she always looks so elegant, and I love her hat!

MotherofPearl · 14/03/2022 16:40

I agree that Princess Alexandra looks extremely elegant. Her hat is a lot nicer than Camilla's, which is rather frumpy imo. I can't make up my mind about Kate's outfit. While that's a beautiful blue I'm not sure it's her colour, and that coat/coatdress makes her look as if she's not properly dressed somehow (a big like the one she wore recently in Denmark). I don't know what the weather is like in London but here in the NW there's such a cold wind that I'd be frozen going out dressed like that with such a bare neck/chest.

MotherofPearl · 14/03/2022 16:41

*bit not big Confused

Maireas · 14/03/2022 16:42

I agree, MotherOfPearl - I think that's the problem with those coat dresses. She looks a bit semi dressed.
Camila's outfit isn't a good fit.

KillingMeDeftly · 14/03/2022 17:04

I think Camilla looks good but the nicest thing I can say about Kate's outfit is that the colour is good. The cut is like something Diana wore in 1985 and what's with the giant pillbox hat? It's a bit cabin crew.

It's not that cold in London today.

MotherofPearl · 14/03/2022 17:06

I've just been out to fetch DD from after school club and even with a warm coat and my most enormous cashmere scarf the wind felt biting.

KillingMeDeftly · 14/03/2022 17:11

It's a balmy 12 degrees here. Outside anyway. Kate might be a bit chilly in the Abbey!

RockaLock · 14/03/2022 17:32

I'm not keen on Kate's outfit today. I think it just makes her look all sort of stretched out and even longer-bodied than she already is.

gluenotsoup · 14/03/2022 17:39

I like Kate’s look today. It’s a good colour, her hair and make up are flattering, and it’s quite a deep neckline which is a bit more youthful. Beautiful sapphires. I agree the shape is a bit long and thin, but still elegant.
It’s a miss for Camilla from me. I’m not keen on purple, and really don’t like the raffia like trim on the hat.
Princess Alexandra looks very elegant. Excellent proportions on the cut, I don’t know what the brooch is, but it sits well.
Wills has done the classic thing of matching his tie to Kate’s outfit, it always looks smart.

RomainingCalm · 14/03/2022 17:43

I like that Kate is wearing longer-line coats and dresses these days - I always thought that a lot of her older versions were an awkward 'not quite knee length' length.

I quite like the coat but I'm not keen on that shade of blue on her and yes, it makes her look a bit stretched out. Saying that her hair is lovely and she looks great in the photos that I've seen.

gluenotsoup · 14/03/2022 17:46

Sophie has been flying solo in NY today, nice and simple, you can’t really see the earrings but they are orange- amber or topaz maybe?

Eaumyword · 14/03/2022 17:46

I'm not sure about Kate's outfit - lovely colour and she looks regal as ever, but I think it's the collar serving to elongate the look?
I like Camilla's outfit colour, but not wild about the style. I like that she's got her comfy boots on, good for her!

Justkeeppedaling · 14/03/2022 17:59

@MotherofPearl

I've just been out to fetch DD from after school club and even with a warm coat and my most enormous cashmere scarf the wind felt biting.

I've been out without a coat today for the first time since about the end of October. It's been quite balmy in the SW.
