Oh no...

It’s lace.

And the shoes...

Ah well. She’s certainly a creature of habit. As usual she looks perfectly lovely though!

Nnique · 20/03/2022 09:16

I might have to stay away as poor Kate will think I have some personal vendetta.

KillingMeDeftly · 20/03/2022 09:25

@amarante

Is Kate wearing tights? If so, does anyone know which ones? Looking for some for a wedding in two weeks. Thank you
Try Falke's Shelina tights @amarante. They come in a few realistic nude shades and you can go for a matte or shimmer finish. And you can choose from closed- or open-toe depending on your shoe!
hopeishere · 20/03/2022 09:31

She has to look formal though. It's a formal event. She can hardly wear yoga trousers and a hoodie!

I like the lace and colour but hate that neckline. And the matching shoes / bag. I was wondering about the super high shoes too they are both tall so dwarf everyone else in photos. How tall are they??

gluenotsoup · 20/03/2022 09:38

I quite like it. The peplum and waistband give more shape to her, and the length and fit good. I think we’ll see some less formal things as the tour progresses, but for arrival of a formal visit, formal wear was appropriate and expected. Personally, I would different accessories, especially the bag. Matching shoes and bag is a bit dated I think.

Nnique · 20/03/2022 09:45

Of course she needs to be formal!

She could have worn unmatched separates though. Would immediately have looked more current. One of those could still have been lace if that was her mood. Or there could have been a lace element somewhere. Coordinating but not matching bag please! Shoes don’t have to match either. It looks much better to mix it up IMO. She doesn’t need to wear those very high heels every time.

Caveat, as usual, is that she does look really lovely.

Krabby · 20/03/2022 09:53

Ugh - very very dated IMHO.

I think the lady in the green suit next to her looks fabulous though!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 20/03/2022 09:54

No one has said yoga pants! Grin Just the fitted lace seems too much, especially paired with the heels and the sun! Absolutely, she looks impeccable.

Nnique · 20/03/2022 09:54

I had a Hobbs suede clutch in exactly that beautiful blue. I miss it.

Northernlurker · 20/03/2022 10:04

She's there representing the Queen. For the arrival something tailored and Uber coordinated is appropriate. Lace is a nod to the cIimate I think. I bet it's a lovely dress to wear.

I didn't spot William's black shoes before - light brown or tan would've been better but perhaps that pair was in the hold! The dark tie jars a bit but the suit is a nice shade of blue.

Raspberrymeringue88 · 20/03/2022 10:27

The lace and peplum is a bit mother of the bride but being Kate she looks beautiful in it. And all in one colour is dated but it has maximum impact for the photos. Separates in different colours immediately diminish the impact on film.

Nnique · 20/03/2022 10:29

She does always look absolutely impeccable. I can forgive her this one.

Nnique · 20/03/2022 10:32

Ah that does make sense for arrival photos (maximum impact on film).

KillingMeDeftly · 20/03/2022 10:40

I have about 4 pairs of expensive stiletto heels in my wardrobe that I've not worn since 2019. Should I send them on to Kensington Palace?? Or put them on eBay so Kate and Letizia can get in a bidding war?

I'm not sure why I'm hanging onto them as I don't see anyone IRL wearing such high heels these days, apart from the out of towners on hen dos!

Nnique · 20/03/2022 10:43

Yes quite. I’ve kept a few pairs (my absolute favourites) but even if they weren’t rather un-trendy now I’d hardly wear them because I’m several years older than Kate and I just don’t want to do it to myself anymore.

fogglez · 20/03/2022 10:56

Her fashion really depresses me but I've just come to the conclusion she's just not into it so goes with practicality & appropriateness which is fine. I just think it's a shame as she has the amazing platform.

Nnique · 20/03/2022 10:57

Yes it’s the same for me. It’s not like there’s some imperative to please my fashion sense!

Maireas · 20/03/2022 10:58

Also, it's the same colour HM wore on her last visit to Belize.

I like the green suit, paired with the blue & the chunky platforms. The women looks great & far more modern than Kate but blue suits her.

I just grieve the wasted opportunity 😆

His shoes are brown suede.

She looks glorious in that last photo with William. I grudgingly approve. Grin

MotherofPearl · 20/03/2022 11:28

I agree @HeyGirlHeyBoy! To me it looks like cocktail wear, not daywear. I was certainly not suggesting yoga gear as an alternative, just something more daywear appropriate (but smart and professional).
