Going to a wedding and dress code is black tie and ceremony is at 4.30pm. Have got this dress from Ghost which I’m hoping will do but no idea what shoes... any ideas or suggestions? I can’t manage super high stilettos anymore. There will be dancing!

Have a look here rachelsimpsonshoes.co.uk/. Maybe something in gold

1970s inspired platform sandals. Black suede or metallic.

Thanks all ... going to look at all the links now. Is the dress ok for black tie?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I need covered toes as my feet are vile and I just want them hidden from view.

My favourites are:
The Joe Browns (but heel height a bit frumpy?)
Bobbies and Office both great but too much toe on show I think

The Hobbs ones are nice but I’d wear that sort of thing for work to be honest!

Rachel Simpson bit spendy - probably don’t want to spend more than £120 max

I’d love something fashionable as it’s a very cool London wedding and I’m feeling a bit self conscious

I love those Joe Brown shoes and no, the heel is not frumpy. The ones the model is wearing are awful by the way.
No point in wearing shoes you cannot walk in let alone dance in.

I'd go for fairly simple styles, may James alongside what is already a fairly vintage silhouette feels a bit costume-y.

A very light nude-ish pink could work and be quite fun

Equally a slightly more neutral gold

Although if you want to go for big and playful I have a soft spot for this matchy-matchy style, paired with an oversized contrast coloured clutch and some bold jewellery

The right print could also work nicely alongside the rich velvet

None of my links worked! Let me try again

Even if the Hobbs shoes are similar to what you wear to work they are by far the most elegant options of any of the linked shoes on the thread. If it is a cool London wedding you don’t want to be walking around in apologetic-looking shoes with Per Una-style ‘jazzy’ features (like the decoration on the heels of the Geox shoes, which somehow make them uglier, or the multi-coloured Joe Browns, or the oversized bow on the ASOS shoes). You want to look stylish and effortless.

floofycroissant · 05/03/2022 07:09

Simple option with a good but of toe coverage www.modainpelle.com/shoes-c1/mid-heel-shoes-c7/mirello-taupe-metallic-leather-p9334

stuntbubbles · 05/03/2022 07:13

The Hobbs ones are awful, sorry. Frumpy. The dress calls for vintage gold elegance, not Tory party conference.

The gold strappy vintage ones RedLemon linked to are best, though I think the Joe Brown or ASOS ones both work.

Glad I'm not the only one, thought I was going mad not getting the Hobbs ones, they remind me of Margaret Thatcher Grin
fortunenookie · 05/03/2022 07:27

I’d be tempted to go dove grey suede almond or round toe

Prettypennies · 05/03/2022 07:29

The Hobbs ones are dreadful! I really like the leopard print slingback ones a few posts above and that’s probably the sort of thing I’d be going for. That’s quite in at the minute.
I really wouldn’t be going for all over black.

The dress is gorgeous OP! What a great little number to go for

yellowtotebag · 05/03/2022 07:35

Ooo @theveryhungrycatapillar also love those. Agree that gold is a very good option with gold accessories!!

These aren’t too high and gave a vintage feel to them.

TizerorFizz · 05/03/2022 07:38

@MrsJaneyLloydFoxe
Please don’t go for anything a 4 year old would pick out from a dressing up box. Clue: my 4 year old used to covet the gold dancing shoes. Please avoid.

The dress is fine. If it’s black tie, you really can wear black shoes. Black tie indicates it is evening-wear. Therefore look for that type of shoe. DD is now nearly 30. Gold has been replaced by, say, a black shoe with a diamanté buckle. Maybe a flash of dismantle on the heel? Just look for a shoe with a bit of sparkle and not all over gold.

At most weddings people look at your face snd your overall look. So maybe think about jewellery? Something to jazz up your neckline and lovely earrings? Finish your look off with a small evening bag.

Shoemadlady · 05/03/2022 07:49

Go with black or gold. Check out bobbies shoes for some beauties x

stuntbubbles · 05/03/2022 07:49

I know style is individual but my god there's some horrific shoes on this thread haha.
Grin I’m waiting for someone to link something from Irregular Choice
