Comfortable white trainers?

Please help me find some that are actually comfortable and look good! This seems like it should be such an easy ask, trainers are the most comfortable shoes to become fashionable in my life but somehow I'm still struggling. To give context, the only shoes that I have ever found truly comfortable are Birkenstocks. I have really awkward feet!

I have tried so many and found them too narrow at the toes or agonising at the back - I had a pair that shredded my heels so badly the blood soaked the whole back of the shoe and stained them.

The best I have are a pair of canvas sneakers from Toast but I'd really like a leather pair for easier cleaning. Also the soles don't give great support for longer walks.

My holy grail is half sizes (6.5) white leather trainers with a wide rounded toe and backs that don't rub the skin away (ouch!) - do they exist?

I have wide ‘square’ feet and have gone through 3 pairs of Adidas Stan Smiths in last few years as I was so happy with them for comfort and fit (I’m on feet most of the day) This week I ordered these from
M&S and they are my new faves….

Skechers Uno Stand On Air. Only thing I could wear during sciatica and some clumsy knee injuries. Swear by them. I have all black, all white, rose gold and wine. They sometimes do special additions

Has anyone suggested fit flop? Comfortable enough to be on your feet all day !

Kaytopotato · 01/03/2022 09:49

I find fit flop true to size , but 7 is a 41 so 6.5 is 40? I have 3 pairs of Rally and all were comfortable straight from the box.

I have wide feet and tried all the white leather trainers i could find in John Lewis. The ones I kept were the JL own brand, called Flora I think. The insole is leather too so no smelly feet when it's hot.

vjg13 · 01/03/2022 11:14

Just bought the Veja v10. They look great but feel flatter inside and less supportive than Stan Smiths, AF1 and Superstars which are my usual ones. My favourite ever for comfort is the Stan Smith Bold which they no longer make Sad

vjg13 · 01/03/2022 11:18

Stan smith bonega look comfy but not leather.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 01/03/2022 15:01

I must have much wider feet than everyone else on this thread!

My Stan smiths and AF1's have just been delivered, I could barely get my foot in the Stan smith! The AF1's do feel wonderfully comfy but I decided not to size down as suggested by several upthread and I'm glad I didn't as they are the perfect fit as is (even slightly in the snug side).

My DD got some Barbour ones yesterday from Next . They're lovely and very comfortable. I think £110 . She ordered 3 pairs but these were the comfiest. The other 2 went back .

I have size 5.5 feet, narrowish feet BUT, these days a bit wider across my joints. No actual bunion - just a bit knoblier.

I bought a pair of white canvas Superga trainers and they were so heavy ! Also hard. AND they slip off my heels no matter i do with the laces ect. Rubbed my heels so much i avoided putting them on :(

Got pissed off with them so bought a pair of faux leather M&S generic white trainers. Comfy! And stayed on. Soft and padded. They did become a bit out of shape quite quickly.

Then i bought a pair of Nikes and they were comfy straight away.

I need to chuck them in the wash now and cross fingers :)

Fitflop Rally white leather with laces or retro Velcro fastening, job done - I really should be on commission for Fitflops!

ElephantLover · 01/03/2022 18:41

Fitflop.
I am so picky with trainers, I have brand new ones - worn once and never again. Fitflop ticks all the boxes for me.

Lots of the ones mentioned on here I already know are too narrow for me. I'm trying some af1's locked up cheap off vinted, fingers crossed.

Can I ask a novice question? Everyone is saying white trainers are the ting to wear but....how do you keep them clean? Do you not have to constantly clean/wash/treat them so they stay white?

Gonnagetgoing · 01/03/2022 21:00

@shoefactree - I spray mine with a stain protector before first use and use a cleaner if they get dirty.

Gonnagetgoing · 01/03/2022 21:02

I use crep protect spray. Lots of ways to clean them, not hard really.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 01/03/2022 21:45

@Reluctantadult I hope the AF1's are ok for you!

GooGooMorning · 02/03/2022 20:39

Nero giardini trainers

Which style would you recommend?

Are AF1s any good for narrow but slightly flat feet with a bit of knee arthritis thrown in? Blush

readyshreddiescook · 23/03/2022 09:23

@Beenheresomanytimesbefore

I feel your (literal) pain OP, I also have very wide feet and sensitive heels. Have you tried Allbirds? Not leather but machine washable. Also have you tried inserting an orthotic? I find lifting my foot higher in the shoe sorts the heel issue as the back of the shoe then sits in the right place on the heel. I get it though, it’s so annoying when even a trainer hurts your feet. Sad
Hi @Beenheresomanytimesbefore

Which orthortic do you use? I have always used Orthoheel but I can't seem to find them anywhere lately? I've tried other brands but they haven't been as good. My current Orthoheel insoles are wearing dangerously thin now and aren't really doing any good! Thank you.
