Comfortable white trainers?

Please help me find some that are actually comfortable and look good! This seems like it should be such an easy ask, trainers are the most comfortable shoes to become fashionable in my life but somehow I'm still struggling. To give context, the only shoes that I have ever found truly comfortable are Birkenstocks. I have really awkward feet!

I have tried so many and found them too narrow at the toes or agonising at the back - I had a pair that shredded my heels so badly the blood soaked the whole back of the shoe and stained them.

The best I have are a pair of canvas sneakers from Toast but I'd really like a leather pair for easier cleaning. Also the soles don't give great support for longer walks.

My holy grail is half sizes (6.5) white leather trainers with a wide rounded toe and backs that don't rub the skin away (ouch!) - do they exist?

Bloody love my Fitflop trainers. Most comfortable trainers I’ve ever owned. Wouldn’t consider any others now.

Another vote for Air Force 1s. I size down a half size. Mine are quite battered now (5+ years old) but so comfy.

Dontsayyouloveme · 19/02/2022 22:49

Vejas are THE most comfortable trainers ever!!!

LadyNell · 19/02/2022 22:51

Can vouch for Stan Smith's,also very comfortable. I've just bought a pair of Vans high tops in their sale

Kjr33 · 20/02/2022 12:14

Adidas superstars

ShopoholicIn · 21/02/2022 00:35

Sorry to hijack your post op, but quick question to those recommending stan smiths, are they true to size or should I size up or down.

LadyNell · 22/02/2022 08:42

True to size in my experience

ShopoholicIn · 22/02/2022 09:28

@LadyNell

True to size in my experience
Thanks a lot @ladyNell

Stan Smiths are incredibly comfy. My Vejas are nice to look at but horrendously uncomfortable.

twilightcafe · 22/02/2022 09:39

My most comfy trainers are Stan Smiths without a doubt. I could wear them all day, and they are true to size on my feet.

A very close second are Nike AF1s. I've bought my first pair last month and have been pleasantly surprised by how comfy they are. I ordered my usual size.

I have two pairs of Puma Cali Star trainers. I can walk around in these all day with no problems.

I've passed my Vejas to my DD who has narrower feet than me. She loves them. They only cost a fiver at a car boot, so I'm not too sad about that.

Wizzbangfizz · 22/02/2022 09:41

Adidas are the devil for those of us with wide feet.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 22/02/2022 09:55

I live in my Puma Calis - has them for about 3 years now and they still look almost new. I'm a 6.5 and they do half sizes - fit me perfectly. No rubbing, incredibly comfy.

Reluctantadult · 22/02/2022 11:34

@NoOtherShadeOfBlue what have you gone for on the end?

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 22/02/2022 12:40

Air and Grace tore my heels to shreds. They are the worst shoes I've ever had. I couldn't even resell or return them because they were covered in blood. It's a shame because they are extremely comfortable underfoot.

Gonnagetgoing · 22/02/2022 12:48

Stan Smiths for me.

Did try on Vejas but they just weren't comfy enough.

Gonnagetgoing · 22/02/2022 12:50

@HumousWhereTheHeartIs - ooh yow!

Have you still got them?

Pity and hindsight is a wonderful thing but I always try on trainers with pale socks or trainer socks (covering heel!) and as with higher shoes/heels try on indoors before wearing out as I had a similar disaster with trainers a few years ago and blood - luckily they were super cheap in a sale so just binned them with a slightly heavy heart.

Peanutgurgle · 22/02/2022 12:57

Air and Grace are really poor quality. I have found zero cent cinq to wear really well and they are comfortable too. I have had mine well over a year and wear a lot but they still look good. They are expensive but I think the same ball park as Air and Grace. They feel tight initially but not uncomfortable.

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 22/02/2022 13:00

@Gonnagetgoing I wore trainer socks with them. I was away from home on a training course when I wore them. It involved an overnight stay and I hadn't brought other shoes. No one would have wanted them so I took great delight in chucking them in a skip in Dundee city centre and putting on some £1 Primark flip-flops.

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 22/02/2022 13:02

Sadly I believed the hype about them

bastedyoungturkey · 22/02/2022 13:02

I’ve found converse wide fit are now available. I’ve only tried mine on - not been out in them on account of the weather but I’m off on a romantic mini break to a warm location tomorrow so hoping they won’t shred my feet.

@HumousWhereTheHeartIs - oh no! What a shame re the circumstances.

I've done similar re getting cheaper flip flops or soft shoes on when I've had crippling shoes on and ahhhh the relief! Smile

The2Omicronnies · 22/02/2022 13:18

Skechers D’Lites have that chunky look about them and are SO comfortable

IvorCutler · 22/02/2022 13:18

I’m a 6.5-7 and have these in a 7. Everyone says they come up small but the 7 is perfect for me and I find them very comfortable! They’re my second pair.

BlackCoffeeInAPoolOfSunshine · 22/02/2022 13:25

Allbirds are the only trainers I buy now - wide feet. They last really well even if you wash them.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 23/02/2022 21:24

Interestingly, I bought stan smiths and they rubbed my heel raw. It would never occur to me to throw them away though. I put a compeed blister plaster on, and once it was healed, they were/are fine. They just come up higher than my other trainers (new balance 374/5?) So it took a minute to get my heels used to it I guess?
