Would you wear these leather pumps for an interview?

With wide leg black trousers, a tucked in silky blouse and Jaeger subtle dog tooth blazer? I’m so off heels after lockdown I feel really tottering and daft in them. I have some loafers but they are more country- style, tan suede type stuff.

Wear the loafers.

The rest of your outfit sounds lovely!

No.

No

SalsaLove · 06/02/2022 14:53

Definitely not.

bonfireheart · 06/02/2022 14:53

Some basic black ballet pumps for £25 from New Look. Keep for interviews only and they'll last a while.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 06/02/2022 14:53

absolutely not

CorrBlimeyGG · 06/02/2022 14:54

No. Do you have a picture of the loafers?

lucylucyapplejuicy · 06/02/2022 14:54

I would

Fairylightsongs · 06/02/2022 14:55

No of course not.

mamaoffourdc · 06/02/2022 14:55

No

Llamasally · 06/02/2022 14:55

Ok that’s easy then 😊 seems pretty unanimous. I’m so out of it and all previous work attire rules have gone out of the window, I don’t know what’s acceptable anymore!

No, those are trainers. Way too casual unless maybe it's a glass collector in a pub etc where comfy shoes are going to be important.

I don’t like the sound of that, never liked ballet pumps even when they were a thing. Will maybe need to invest in some new flats…

I would but I’m in quite a casual workplace. Depends on the job I suppose.

Llamasally · 06/02/2022 15:01

Other options I already own which I’m also not sure will be suitable are leopard ankle boots (Boden) and black heeled courts which look very outdated and heel is getting on for a very uncomfortable 4inches

@CorrBlimeyGG a bit like these

I would, but it depends what industry it is for. Everyone I work with wears shoes similar to those so you would fit right in if you turned up for an interview wearing them.

Llamasally · 06/02/2022 15:03

Am I going to need to buy new shoes 🙈

Sexnotgender · 06/02/2022 15:03

If it’s for any kind of professional job absolutely not.

I’m not a heel wearer. I’ve got some lovely leather brogues from Ecco that I wear with 7/8 slim fit trousers.

liveforsummer · 06/02/2022 15:03

Can you add photos of the other options? Tan loafers go with anything though. Just double checking it's actually a face to face interview as ours are still all on teams. If not then no one will actually see your feet anyway

Thewindwhispers · 06/02/2022 15:03

Nope. Not unless was trendy PR/tv type job and probably not even then.

sjxoxo · 06/02/2022 15:03

I think it depends on the job role & company?? If you it’s in an artsy or creative field & for a modern company then yes I would with the blazer and smart trousers. As long as you look polished I think you can get away with it. If you are going for a traditional role / profession I would wear something more formal. I work in a niche area of the fashion industry and people wear whatever the hell they like - I’d rather someone come for interview with some personality and sense of personal style than a hiring black suit or god forbid a pencil skirt. Good luck! I think I wore a pair of Vans with a silk skirt to my interview for current job! Xox

TottersBlankly · 06/02/2022 15:03

It does sound as if you need a new pair of shoes for interviews.

Can we help you choose? Do you have a budget for this. (Might help to know roughly how formal your prospective job might be.)

sjxoxo · 06/02/2022 15:04

*boring black suit that should have said! Xo
