This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

Thanks for taking the time to share @Fraaahnces , very interesting. Didn’t know about essential oil planting, I avoid in skincare due to sensitivity but it’s in other things and I didn’t realise that was another source of damage. So many things I’m not really aware of, in many industries.

Today I opened:
Facetheory Saliatica - new purchase - 2% BHA toner, obviously need to give it some time for effectiveness but formula is nice and easily absorbed.

Fraaahnces · 01/05/2022 07:28

@wonderspread , it’s a big dollar industry and a lot of forest areas around the world have been cleared for plants of native and invasive species. They’re rarely ever the “organic” oils they claim. Another issue is that the companies that wholesale to cosmetics manufacturers are often owned or “closely associated” with equally invasive religious groups. (Then don’t get me started on the Essential Oils MLM groups…. Most of them are owned by LDS and Hillsong. There’s one or two YouTube vids about the “lifestyle BS” they jam - mostly in the USA, and where the money goes.

Left my empties sitting for so long, time to get rid!

108/250

M&S Almond Milk and Vanilla shower cream and body butter. My far the worst products ive used this year. When lathering the shower cream, it smelt good at first, but then a dusty off scent knocked me off! The body butter was basically useless as it didnt make a difference. Avoid!

Molton Brown Pink pepper shower mini. I adore this scent, something about it just makes me feel clean and fresh. MB last ages too, and i dont feel dry after!

Diptyque body oil sample. Love, love, love🧡! I repurchased a full size, it smells like a spa, and it feels like such a treat when i use it. Just feels perfect to unwind with. Can put my pjs on straight away and nor stick to them, and my body feels amazing!

X2 Sheet masks.

Guerlain midnight secret. This was a product id put off using as didnt expect much, my word i was suprised!! It defiantly is a good night sleep in a tube. Its not a thick cream, actually quite light, but it packs such a punch!! I cant explain how good my skin looked in the morning. But, when i went to have a look online? I was abit gutted that 15ml is a full size.. it is great, but i dont want to pay £25 for whats basically a travel mini..

And i forgot two products!! 110/250

Ordinary Rosehip oil. I really dont think you need to spend big money on an oil, i do have ££ in my collection, but this was great. I wish it had a rosey scent, but i can live without that. A little bit really goes along way.

Kora Vit C sample sachet. Liked this, got 4 uses out of it, and from the days i used it i got on well with it. But think its Miranda Kerr's line? Not sure how i feel about celeb skincare lines, feel like your just trying to flog me it!

Good to read everyone's updates, @Maranello I agree re JLP advent, I bought it on a late whim and opened in March, amazing, so many excellent products.

Empties to note
REN skin tonic in AC but actually I like this, feel it helps my skin.

This works body cocoon, a rp and I love it at bedtime.

Youth to the people cleanser- from CB AC, nice smell worked well. More cleansers in stash tho.

I also like the Dr Dennis gross, need more to really tell tho.

clary · 01/05/2022 19:08

Grrrrr pic didn't post, try again

LivingDeadGirlUK · 01/05/2022 22:49

I've finished the Prai hand cream from the M&S advent calendar, nice and thick I enjoyed using this. Have a million hand creams from Christmas to use before I repurchase anything though!

Fraaahnces · 02/05/2022 01:32

@Caggie09 - I couldn’t agree more re the oil thing. Can’t understand why people do that! I only add an oil into my routine in the five mins of winter (or non-summer) we get here. It’s just not dry enough to warrant it, so I know that colours my decision too. I always get the cheapest one at the pharmacy, either rosehip (my fave too) or jojoba if it’s cheaper. (Now I’m using a retinol oil I wonder if I will need it this year.) DD1 uses it every day though, and her skin is gorgeous.

wonderspread · 02/05/2022 01:33

Thanks @Fraaahnces , all new to me so I’ve learned something today!

Today I opened:
Facetheory Supergel moisturiser - I avoid starting too many things at once but felt confident with these ingredients as nothing all that different for me. I like it, I see why other oily skinned people rate it. Still also really like the Amil C Whip but do like this texture too and the oil control (not mattifying). Layered fine with my sunscreen.

For a moment I thought anything I share would be all Facetheory, but remembered I have a few make up items to try so eventually it will be different 😁

Fraaahnces · 02/05/2022 07:24

@clary - 😁 Miranda Kerr probably needs the money.
Did you like the cerimidin mask? I’m thinking of trying the cerimidin mist if I can find an affordable one. I have a ceramide mist from another brand that I purchased from Stylevana, and I’m nearly finished it. It’s been A-MAZING. (I never knew that mists were efficacious before… I knew they were nice, though.) I’d absolutely order it again, but I just don’t want to wait a million years for it to get here.

clary · 02/05/2022 10:26

I did like the mask actually, don't know why I didn't mention that one :) (just soooo many empties). It's hard to tell tho with something you use once. I don't tend to rp these as there is usually one in my stash to use. But it felt really moisturising and my skin felt lovely and smooth.

Fraaahnces · 02/05/2022 11:51

I think that’s one of my issues with sheet masks too, @clary. Single use isn’t just bad for the environment, you can’t get much of an opinion unless it’s instantly bad. (Plus I’m claustrophobic)

TeaAddict235 · 02/05/2022 21:20

Grrr, my previous post disappeared.
Happy birthday @Caggie09 ! Hope that you dressed up and went all out with your makeup 💄

I love how you had to rush out to get those goodies @beachcitygirl. Sometimes the call of the product warrants a journey to the shops.

Speaking of shops, I've been holidaying on the east coast, and holidays bring out the happy shopper in me. DH has given up and while he enjoys Costa, I bumble into localities that sell make up and skin care. Especially lipstick. The sun makes me buy bright pinks and purples; I think it works with minimalist make up and sunscreen. So, do smile at the purple or bright pink lipsticked lady who has a holiday feel about her in her grey village, as she stands and watches the tractors with at least one small child.

Welcome @wonderspread ! Welcome welcome fellow butterfly! Are any of you feeling ready to emerge from this cocoon phase into the bright blinding rays of spring? I need more sunshine to do so.

Annoyed with this new app stuff, as I was locked out for about a week and then I couldn’t write or update on my product useage. But it has been refreshing reading up on all of your product reviews.
The thing about Spring and summer is that I largely use sunblock in the daytime, and so it reduces my make up and facial cream use. Then I use slightly more facial cleaners to rid the sunscreen in the evening. I need to learn how to use foundation/ concealer and sunscreen together.

Mackemlass79 · 03/05/2022 12:20

Forgive me for I have sinned.......😂😂😂 (quite honestly after the, last 6mths of my life I deserve to and don't care). I have previously had birchbox as a mthly subscription box but cancelled many moons ago as I quite frankly like all of us have way too many cosmetic and skin care products however I have fallen for the all singing all dancing shiny object that us glossy box subscription as this mth as its 2 box for the price of one this mth either free delivery. Please someone tell me this is a terrible idea I'm a terrible person and I should go and immediately cancel (without the terrible person part or I may just cry haha). Anyway on a more serious note ish has anyone found and lip balm products that actually work and don't either make the, lips dryer just slide off within 5 mins?

wonderspread · 03/05/2022 13:02

Thanks @TeaAddict235 and that all sounds lovely (including tractor watching 😄). On your sunscreen side, is the issue with applying foundation on top or reapplying sunscreen during the day whilst wearing make up? I’ve seen many tips and suggestions but admittedly can’t wrap my head around the latter.

I’m trying to work out if I can make use of a navy lipstick. I’m a natural/nudes kind of person so the colour is very much outside of my norm. I also have a bright red and purple but these I can temper with layering, just no idea yet about navy!

PomRuns · 03/05/2022 18:27

@Mackemlass79 I like the Aveda lip balm.

@TeaAddict235 hope you had lovely hols.

hello to all and hope having a good week so far. Also agree about the JL advent calendar.

5 more empties.

Aveda - hand cream. Really rate this. Great fragrance too.

Clinique happy body lotion. Was free with the perfume (having a blast from the past) was absolutely useless. Skin feels so dry and irritated.

Escentric 05 - love this. Fortunately have a replacement from the Fortnums AC.

Tatcha rice wash and dewy skin cream. Liked both. Was in a GWP - would buy to try again.

61/100

Also used a l’occitane face oil sample- really liked. I do have dry skin though. Samples used - 9

TeaAddict235 · 03/05/2022 20:05

Good Point @wonderspread , I think my issue is reapplying the sunscreen throughout the day after having applied concealer/ foundation in the morning. Won't the make up be smudged by reapplication of sunscreen throughout the day ?

wonderspread · 03/05/2022 20:33

Ah yea @TeaAddict235 that’s my issue, I have no idea how to really reapply with make up. I’ve seen it suggested to pat on with a beauty blender and touch up a little with foundation or powder if needed. However I feel liked I’d be caked. In reality I just don’t wear foundation if I’m out and about in the sun, then it’s easy to reapply sunscreen as needed. But that’s not really a solution to the issue! I’ve seen Colorescience powder recommended (I think that’s how it’s spelled) as it is an SPF so you can just powder over your make up without issue, but last time I checked it out it wasn’t easy to get hold of.

PomRuns · 03/05/2022 20:42

I really recommend bare minerals compact - bare pro. It doesn’t feel like you are wearing make up abs the coverage is good or can be light too.

Fraaahnces · 03/05/2022 21:39

@Mackemlass79 - you enjoy every second of every Birchbox, Sweetie! You deserve every moment of joy you get!
@TeaAddict235 - I’m the resident Aussie sunscreen addict. My suggestion for you would be to get onto Stylevana, Style Korean or YesStyle, or if you don’t want to wait a million years for it to turn up, try Olive Young Global site. (The app is best.) I think you would probably enjoy one of the Korean/Japanese sunscreen sticks for reapplication on your face. They’re not at all slimy or thick. I keep one in my handbag always. Obviously wouldn’t rely on that for your whole body… they’re too small for that. Keep a small bottle/tube kf regular sunscreen in bag as well. Also wear a hat & sunnies.

Fraaahnces · 03/05/2022 21:50

Just had another thought @TeaAddict235 you can also buy Sun Cushions. (Like makeup cushions) that you pat on with a sponge. You can then refil from your face sunscreen when done. I screenshotted examples of both. These are from Olive Young App. (Always specials)

One more empty:

No7 protect and perfect intense hand cream- this was out of a gift box that I got a few years ago for my birthday. I loved the smell of this, it reminded me of suncream, unfortunately it didn't moisturise my hands as well as I thought it would. It was also a nightmare to get it out of the tube, I had to cut it to get the cream out.

Full-5
Samples-0

Fraaahnces · 04/05/2022 00:18

Two empties and some news…
One 50ml bottle of Balenciaga Florabotanica EDP. Love it - especially in warmer months. While it’s a floral, there’s something a bit Gin and Tonic there too. It’s refreshing and absolutely not sweet. Plus, the bottle’s really pretty. I might repurchase in a billion years when I get through more of my stash.
One more sachet - Dewytree 50+ Sunscreen. Lovely, moisturizing formula. A bit thicker than my usual ones, but I enjoyed the cooling, refreshing feel of this. Suspect it’s full of ceramides (which my skin loves) and I’d consider buying it if I needed more sunscreen. (Absolutely don’t. Have lots to get through atm, but I will!)

My Frankenmoisturiserserum is still fab. I’m not sure the fragrance is very me, though. It’s made my décolleté and arms noticeably clearer and softer.
The rest of my Stylevana order finally arrived. The star of the show is the Ample:N Peptide Shot Ampoule (serum). It’s a huge bottle - 100ml, but I can see myself zooming through it. It’s a weird looking thing though… Amber-coloured transparent serum with little “threads” of peptide all through it (totally look like tiny white worms… ew!). They disappear once you pat it in. It really is firming. The rest was cleansing oil (I ordered this prior to my last order that arrived ages ago…), moisturiser (will open when Frankenmoisturiserserum is done) and a mist for my daughter.

Experiment627 · 04/05/2022 12:49

FFS fell off the thread AGAIN!!!! Suddenly notifications just stop!! really annoying!!!

@Mackemlass79 if it brings you JOY then go for it!

@wonderspread a navy lipstick you say?

@Fraaahnces how you getting on with nabbing a very rich DH so you can start your skincare line?

I went to Poundland today to get toys for my bubba (we have a loooooooooong flight coming up and I am desperate to get organised for that) and took a look at their skincare and I might have bought most of the range!!! I am also planning on trying the Source of Nature skincare from Sainsburys.
Currently I am all on with Boots Ingredients and really loving nearly all of the items I got.

Fraaahnces · 04/05/2022 14:06

@Experiment627 - my likelihood of success is up there with also becoming a supermodel. Given that I’m 5ft tall in my socks and I’m turning 50 this year, I won’t be holding my breath… Besides, would have to get rid of the current DH first and apart from the snoring and not being a bajillionaire, he’s alright. Your looooooong flight sounds like you might be heading to Australia. If you need any tips for flying, I’m your girl. Apart from having flown that route many, many times, I did some time trying to have a “real job” as a flight attendant.

@Mackemlass79 - You seriously can’t beat the Laneige Lip Mask. (I use it as a balm and have one in my bag, one in the car, etc…) Expensive, but absolutely worth it. They last for ages and they stay on overnight. I have tried swapping this out of my routine for cheaper options and always come back to it because the ones I swap to never last as long, dry my lips and don’t work as well. My favourite “flavour” is the Grapefruit one, followed by the Apple-Lime. I haven’t tried the Vanilla one, but I have smelled it and it’s actually quite nice. (Very subtle, powdery vanilla, not sickening cupcake version.) The Berry one’s great too. They also have choc mint and chocolate, but the chocolate one is brown and looks like ummmm….yuk. The choc mint one is not for me. You can buy small sized ones on the K&J beauty sites, but they end up more expensive.
