Business class flight .... help! What do I wear - ideas gratefully appreciated!

DH and are going on a special holiday to celebrate our 25th anniversary. So, we have splurged on business class flights en-route to Jamaica.

We go mid-Feb, and I'm having a sudden confidence crisis as I don't know what to wear..... I want to be comfortable, yet look stylish (and not look like an imposter)
I'm 55, 5'1, size 8 - feel youthful and want to look trendy, not trying.
Any tips? TIA

I wear pretty much the same as when I go in economy!

Last trip I wore joggers (smart, new ones to be fair), a nice jumper and white trainers.

Universe1969 · 19/01/2022 21:24

How lovely. Comfort is key. 3/4 trousers. A loose too and a scarf. A cardy if it gets cold.

Trendytrousers · 19/01/2022 21:24

I’d wear some chic wide-leg black trousers (an upmarket jogger as it were) like the classic tracksuit style from Me+Em or M&S which will be comfy but also chic and elegant.

A crisp white T-shirt which you can tuck in, with perhaps a longer belted cardigan over your shoulders which you can wrap around you when it’s cold. Also a beautiful coloured pashmina to wear on the flight! On my feet you could wear a smart white trainer but if you’re short on space and won’t need them when you’re there, wear a smart pair of slip on sandals.

A nice big bag slung in the crook of your arm and a pair of sunnies and you’re good to go! Enjoy the experience!

HeronLanyon · 19/01/2022 21:26

Absolutely no need to wear anything different (I rarely do unless straight to meeting etc) unless you want to - and as it’s special thing then go for it ! Same for first tbh. Congrats.

Bubblegum22 · 19/01/2022 21:28

Same as pp, something smart casual if you really feel the need to make an effort but I would wear exactly the same as in economy. No one is really looking.

timeforteaforyouandme · 19/01/2022 21:28

Why would you wear a crisp white shirt for a long flight?

Dammitthisisshit · 19/01/2022 21:29

If you want to fit in go low key and comfy. I wear yoga pants and a soft T-shirt. There’s always somewhere to put shoes so take comfy socks, kick back and enjoy the experience!
I profess I’m not stylish though…

Stretchandsnap · 19/01/2022 21:30

I usually wear jeans and trainers and a long sleeved T-shirt - I just want to be comfortable and able to sleep - no one cares what you are wearing

allfurcoatnoknickers · 19/01/2022 21:31

I do loose trousers (used to have nice silk joggers or more drapey joggers,) a cardigan over a tank top/t shirt and a blanket scarf.

Used to fly business class all the time pre-pandemic and no one was every dressed up all fancy. You'll fit in no matter what!

CrappyXmasMarket · 19/01/2022 21:32

No one will care, trust me.

Wear what you would in economy! Soft and comfortable clothes.

BriansTail · 19/01/2022 21:32

I flew business last year and people were in tracksuits and someone changed into pyjamas!

I don't think you need to dress up.

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/01/2022 21:32

I generally wear layers so generally something like lululemon leggings a vest top, thin t shirt and a cashmere cardigan with trainers.

Don't wear anything too fancy you will be uncomfortable and you will want to be comfortable as I guessing you are going long haul.

Get there early and enjoy free stuff in the lounge. Also check out your plane model and seating to make sure you have nice seats... some business class seats are MUCH better than others

BriansTail · 19/01/2022 21:33

Also saw someone who looked about my age (late 30s) who changed into a pikachu pyjama onesie a couple years ago.

Yep. I wear yoga pants or leggings, something with an elasticated waist. Grin I usually wear a fairly nice long top and cardigan for extra warmth.

I've seen people dressed up in business class, but I honestly can't be bothered, I stretch out and enjoy a glass of wine.

ShanghaiDiva · 19/01/2022 21:36

No need to wear anything special, unless you want to.
I wear jeans, long sleeve t shirt and cashmere poncho. Not really bothered about shoes as take them off as soon as I board and put on socks.

Cameleongirl · 19/01/2022 21:37

Oh, and definitely enjoy the lounge!

Bringmeadog · 19/01/2022 21:37

You’ll look more out of place dressed up. Just go in comfies - it’s a long flight.

Windyone · 19/01/2022 21:40

Generally on a longish flight people will change into really comfy joggers or PJs. I love the idea of being at a pyjama party 😀. Always funny to see the smart business types dressing down.

StarryNightSparkles · 19/01/2022 21:41

I always bloat up so get dressed for the airport then once on the flight. I remove my make up, put my hair up and put on yoga clothes with a nice long cardigan as I get cold. Then i moisturise my hands, face, lips. I drink plenty of water and try to move about as much as possible sometimes people will do yoga. I curl up and watch tv, read a book. My main must have is a good bag big enough to fit everything I need in and close over plus slip on shoes that are comfy. Before landing I wash my face, put my make up on and do my hair. Then change into my airport clothes. I am not a great flyer so this routine keeps me busy and my mind occupied.

Have a fantastic holiday and happy anniversary when it arrives 💐🎉🎉

Stoic123 · 19/01/2022 21:48

Definately relaxed lounge wear - used to fly business sometimes for work.

The only time I've been upgraded to business class (personal trip), I was wearing joggers. I got upgraded to a suite at the hotel the other end in the same outfit too. Lucky joggers Grin.

SeaToSki · 19/01/2022 21:50

If you are going to Jamaica then it will be hot when you get off the plane. I would stash a non crumpling tshirt and skirt in your hand luggage and you can change just before landing. I always find planes cycle between too hot and too cold, so I would wear layers. Also remember to avoid metal bits on your clothes & jewelry or you will spend half an hour trying to get though security

Rosebuud · 19/01/2022 21:55

Before Covid, and hopefully soon to start up again I travelled a couple of times a month for work, always business class. Please don’t dress up, folks will think you’re a twat. Long haul I’d wear yoga pants, or stretchy jeggings ans loose tops. People are very casually dressed and you won’t pick someone out by their dress and be able to tell if they are in economy business or first. There’s no dress code, just dress as you would in economy,

Jayaywhynot · 19/01/2022 22:06

You don't need to dress up, smart joggers or culottes (elasticated waist), flat comfy shoes loose top.
Ive travelled business class, most people dress for comfort, eat then recline their seat, put a movie on and relax..
Enjoy, business class is great

Millylovespuddles · 19/01/2022 22:07

Brill - thanks you lovely lot! I'll be just fine....

As everyone has said, just dress for comfort, if you dress up you'll feel stupid when everyone else is wearing joggers!
