What to wear on my legs because I just don't know anymore

I'm a sahm, my dc are all at school during the day.

I NEED to get out of these leggings. It's just not doing anything for me anymore.

Since skinny jeans have gone and died, (and let's be honest they were not comfy anyway), what's everyone wearing on their legs ?? I'm so flippin stuck! I do sometimes wear jeans but I find them abit uncomfortable around the house.

I'm not a huge fan of joggers, it's just not how I dress.

I need something comfy but stylish that I can wear in and out of the house. It this piece of clothing exists and you've seen it, please do share Grin

PS I will never give up my skinny jeans! They suit me, so it doesnt matter what is "in style"

Diddlydeee · 17/01/2022 20:14

Following as I’ve just discovered I’ve made numerous holes in my skinny jeans /jeggings bum area (probs because I’ve put on lots of weight this Winter!)

Blush

I’m a huge fan of dresses. No having to work out tops and bottoms. Buy cosy stretchy tights to wear with them. Team with boots for going out.
Pop on a cardigan for extra warmth. I buy the jersey ones mostly, very easy to iron.

Bugbabe1970 · 18/01/2022 22:10

@slaybellsringing

Ah yes I forgot to add that I have a substantial bottom and hips 🤦🏻‍♀️ Bootcut wouldn't be a style I'd wear unfortunately. The wide legged cropped pants sound nice.
Bootcut would be more flattering M&S do lovely ones
slaybellsringing · 19/01/2022 09:40

Tights and jersey dresses sound good. At the moment I do wear leggings with knitted dresses but that's usually if I'm going out as a thick knitted dress inside the house, with the heating on and house chores just isn't practical. Really I'm looking for an outfit that is ok to pop out in but ok to run around in at home.

Anyone know of any nice jersey dresses that don't look like a shapeless, colourless bag? Grin

I live in skinny leather-look trousers. They're stretchy, comfy, waterproof!, and make any top look better. Lovely with jumpers.

I don't care if they're over. 😆

@slaybellsringing - have a look at Fenn Wright Manson but especially their last 2 dresses, also on Ebay they do nice wrap jersey dresses. I've seen you're Muslim but you could easily wear a darker vest top if there was any cleavage showing and also tights re legs.

Was just doing a quick google and this came up:-

www.next.co.uk/style/st843678/m24350?dp=a&gclid=b42629bea8c81e16142248579fb56b6a&gclsrc=3p.ds&msclkid=b42629bea8c81e16142248579fb56b6a#m24350

If it were me re you, I'd maybe try this too:-

I've got the red, black and white floral skirt but out of stock but this is nice:-

www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2889651_c101/black-floral-midi-skirt-black

They do nice midi skirts here and also Fenn Wright Manson ones:-

www.matalan.co.uk/products/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=skirt&%5Bfacet_filter%5D%5Bproduct_meta_data.root_category%3AWomens%5D=on&per=36&sort=

team with biker or Chelsea boots and my other recommendation is a black fine knit polo neck jumper from Primark - absolute bargain and I've worn it a lot. If you could get away with it maybe a cream/white or black chunkier jumper or even a wrap cardigan (&Other Stories).

You can get lots of knitted dresses which aren't thick.

This is very stylish:-

have seen this in store and looks great:-

for me with those I'd wear with 60 denier or higher tights in the house - when you go out if your feet get cold put thermal socks over the tights and maybe add a cardigan or light jersey jacket.

slaybellsringing · 20/01/2022 14:26

Ooh @Gonnagetgoing I like some of the skirts in that matalan link you sent, especially the pleated one and like you said with a nice fine knit jumper would look lovely I think.

The fenn Wright dresses are definitely not my style, I'm much more of a neautral dresser but I do steer away from grey as it makes me look very washed out. Unfortunately a lot of jersey dresses seem to be in grey for some reason.

I'm sticking to leggings, tunic and boots until summer. Mind you, I'm so cold in work it's more like, long johns, leggings, leg warmers, thermal vest, long sleeved tops, tunic, cardigan, scarf and coat. Indoors. (self-emloyed and high bills)

hivemindneeded · 20/01/2022 14:31

Black cigarette pants

Navy smart lounging trousers

I think if you got some like these, along with some well cut dark jeans, you'll not have to think. They all go with any top smart or casual, any colour or pattern. For everyday school run jeans, M&S Sienna are good for pear shaped women and White Stuff's boyfriend cut jeans are great too - size down - they are massive.

Iamkmackered1979 · 20/01/2022 14:36

I like jeggings purely because I’m overweight and they are stretchy and comfy so happier in them than jeans or fitted trousers at the moment. Don’t wear joggers out of the house and leggings I don’t feel comfy in just now. Pretty much living in 2 pairs of jeggings.

When I lose weight I wear dresses, tunics, fat face 5 pocket jeggings I have loads I’ve not even worn!! Will be glad to lose the weight and wear and feel nice in my clothes again! Says she who just bought a crème egg oops

notawittyname1954 · 20/01/2022 15:38

Like someone else sweater dresses with leggings. I generally hate tights .

Isn’t ‘apartment pant’ an old joke from Friends?!
Yes!
2022HereWeCome · 20/01/2022 16:40

I like leggings under dresses (no longer than knee length) as I hate, hate, hate tights. H&M ribbed leggings/trousers - various styles are extremely comfy styled with long hoodie or dress or something similiar.

trader21c · 23/01/2022 17:45

Bamboo sweatpants and Sweaty Betty thermals/Hush black leggings in the house - I ventured out in a pair of Jeans today trying to be a bit smarter (so uncomfortable!). Hobbs dresses and black skirt with tights for work

coogee · 23/01/2022 17:57

I generally wear the same things in the house as I do when I go into work: skinnies, bootcut jeans. The only difference being that I wear shoes/boots outside the house. Leggings for the gym only.

That said, I’m slobbing it in a pair of loose joggers today.

Yangste56 · 23/01/2022 17:58

Robell trousers. Lovely and comfortable. I’ve got Marie and Bella.

AnnieSnap · 23/01/2022 18:00

Jeans need to contain Elastane to be comfy. Good stretchy jeans are nearly as comfortable as leggings. I just bought a black pair of bootcut (always very flattering on big bottom shaped like me) jeans from M&S for £19.50. I love them. I also like a straight leg pant in jogging bottom fabric (on trend) and this past year, I have quite fallen in love with dresses. So comfortable with genuinely comfortable tights from Snag or Better Tights. Have you looked at the ‘What are you Wearing ‘22’ thread (a new one comes out, thanks to @Ellapiella when each one gets full). It’s really friendly and supportive 🙂

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 23/01/2022 18:05

I don’t understand all these comments saying jeans are uncomfortable - in favour of tights! Tights feel awful! My legs can’t breathe. 😄

breakdown19 · 23/01/2022 18:10

@Mackmama

Italian magic trousers (Google them) they’re really comfy and look nice, I wear mine rolled up with hi-tops for weekends or rolled down with chunky loafers for work.
I was intrigued by these but just found some that are one size 8-16....
