Which face oils work for you and do you use everyday

I’m in my 40s, everyday when I look in the mirror I see my tired, dull reflection looking back at me.

I drink loads of water. I don’t really fuss with too many face creams etc… just want my skin to look a bit brighter again.

I tried Clarins oil and it was lovely. Then I switched to a Vit C brightening cream and that was great too. But the last few weeks, my skins looks dull and dry.

I’m going to switch back to the oil again.

I’m just curious if you find face oils work for you? Do you use everyday?

I like argan oil or rose hip oil, both work well for me. I’m on the cusp of 40.

I use a Vitamin C and E serum every morning. At night I alternate between rosehip oil and retinol.

Been doing this a few years and my skin is clear and smooth and doesn't seem to have aged since, so I'm sticking with it! Just turned 50.

I use a Vitamin C serum in the morning and Rose Hip oil at night. I hardly drink any water (I don't recommend that) and I'm 51 with good skin.

L'Occitane Immortelle Reset. Use overnight. Makes my skin feel lovely & looks brighter and almost "dewy" with no make up on.

Cheaper on allbeauty.com or eBay than the L'Occitane store.

I’m late forties. I use Oskia restoration oil every night. My skin is the best it’s ever been. Clear, smooth and supple. You only need a few drops so it lasts forever. It’s non greasy and smells divine. Wouldn’t use anything else now.

Rosehip oil suits my skin but the real game changer was taking an Apple Cider Vinegar capsule every day. Made a HUGE difference to my skin. My 15 year old DS is really spotty at the mo so I started him on them and again they’ve really helped. I can tell when he’s forgotten to take them for a few days.

I use the Nuxe face oil, it’s really good and smells amazing.

I've been using one by Evolve called miracle face oil. Love it so much I repurchased and bought some as gifts.
I don't think it helps with glow though more that it keeps my skin looking hydrated. Only thing that gives me glow is vit C

I used to use a lovely Korean skin oil that I paid a fortune for, but now use Aldi’s rose oil which is just as good.

seekinglondonlife · 01/01/2022 11:39

Rosehip oil. Don't forget to regularly exfoliate OP, it makes a big difference to how bright my skin looks. I use spent coffee grounds, 1tsp sugar, few drops of almond oil and rose essential oil. Massage and leave on for 10 minutes before dampening my skin and scrubbing off. My face is literally shining after.

tunainatin · 01/01/2022 11:44

I have dry skin and use either black seed oil or sesame seed oil (much cheaper) - skin is a good shape since using these rather than commercial creams

sleepwhenidie · 01/01/2022 11:47

Not an oil but I was listening to Caroline Hurons the other day, talking about how she can immediately recognise when women in 40s+ are on HRT as their skin has a plumpness /hydration that peri/meno takes away. She loves a good face oil too but just a thought about what might be going on..

The ordinary rose hip oil

Angela Langford - I have psoriasis and Rosacea and find her products lovely.

I use avocado oil every night over tretinoin and Weleda skin food - it’s a final seal. When I wake up in the morning my skin is still really moisturised and dewy. If I skip the oil step, I wake up more dry and lined looking.
I also use the same oil to cleanse in the morning - keeps the dew all day! After I’ve done my makeup (no foundation or concealer though) I dab a little more avocado oil around my orbital bone to keep it even more dewy. I love avocado oil!

I’ve heard of some mentioned above, I shall look into others I’ve not heard of, might be worth giving a try.
Thank you 😊

Following with interest. Just been.bought a face oil for Xmas. Was always too scared as I've very sensitive skin and hate to mess with it, but this is for sensitive skin. We'll see. Every night under moisturiser or over?

Interesting about the home made exfoliation- coffee/ sugar/ oil? I'll try it and see, thanks. I have very good skin (just turned 50) but do feel it needs a 'glow '. Someone mentioned C- as capsules or topical. TIA.

Puffalicious · 01/01/2022 21:31

Vit C that should say. Capsules or topical?

GoodnightGrandma · 01/01/2022 21:38

I use the Liz Earle Superskin concentrate for night.
I was surprised that it soaks in, doesn’t leave a greasy layer on your skin.
I love it.

Milomonster · 01/01/2022 22:11

I rotate Rosehip, argan, and prickly pear. I’m 44 and was told last week I looked 32. Agree that you should exfoliate. I use Nip n Fab glycolic once a week.

marieantoinehairnet · 01/01/2022 22:16

L'Occitane Petit Miracle is amazing, smells lovely, feels just gorgeous on the skin, isn't greasy and I have problem skin (rosacea) and doesn't cause me problems

Geppili · 01/01/2022 22:22

Marula oil Drunk Elephant. A face lift in a bottle.

MrsArrison · 01/01/2022 23:20

I swear by Kiehl's Midnight Recovery oil. I literally see the difference when I look in the mirror in the morning. I've heard the Aldi dupe is very good, so might try that when my current bottle runs out.
