Which face oils work for you and do you use everyday

I’m in my 40s, everyday when I look in the mirror I see my tired, dull reflection looking back at me.

I drink loads of water. I don’t really fuss with too many face creams etc… just want my skin to look a bit brighter again.

I tried Clarins oil and it was lovely. Then I switched to a Vit C brightening cream and that was great too. But the last few weeks, my skins looks dull and dry.

I’m going to switch back to the oil again.

I’m just curious if you find face oils work for you? Do you use everyday?

@Bussinbussin

I use a Vitamin C and E serum every morning. At night I alternate between rosehip oil and retinol.

Been doing this a few years and my skin is clear and smooth and doesn't seem to have aged since, so I'm sticking with it! Just turned 50.

@Bussinbussin Do you mind saying which vit C / E serum you use?

I absolutely swear by this one made by a small company called B Skincare in the UK:

www.bskincare.co.uk/shop/product/face-oil

I honestly don't work for them but have recommended it to lots of people, it's perfect for protecting my skin in winter and also for night. My skin just seems lots better when I wear it.
Also £9.50 so not expensive at all!

@CertainUncertain

*and to answer your question, I like Vintner's Daughter. It's expensive, but a bottle lasts forever.
Oh I have always longed to try this but put off by my ability to react badly to some things!

I got a Barbara Sturm trial kit recently and that is/was absolutely fabulously amazing. Now faced with shelling out £200 for the moisturiser.

Currently loving Votary Super Seed oil. A few drops at night over moisturiser. Very soothing.

I also follow Caroline Hirons and use Zelens Power D after first discovering it in one of her kits. Morning and evening. Im not sure what it does but I miss it if I don’t use it!

I use Clarins oil occasionally (probably a couple of times a month) to give myself a facial massage, but if I use any oil frequently my skin gets clogged and my rosacea flares up. Rosehip oil in particular causes flare ups.

I like Aesop Fabulous Face Oil but I only use it twice a week.

Theblacksheepandme · 05/01/2022 00:45

Trilogy Rosehip Oil.

Reading with interest as I love a good facial oil.
Although i have to say that they wreck my pillowcases, I have so many that are stained from face oil and nothing seems to get the stains out.

Do you put it on right before bed? I find that I only need 3-4 drops of facial oil and I clean my face and put it on late afternoon/early evening so it gives it more time to soak in before bed

I'm blessed with really good skin- touch dry if I don't look after it- but am super, super sensitive. Looking to brighten a bit- I feel a bit washed out and if I don't have make-up on people think I look tired/ ill! I've just turned 50. Trying a face oil for the first time at the moment under moisturiser- Anadlou 1000 roses Sensitive from Holland and Barrett- but any tips for brightening that wouldn't include retinol or acid as I don't reckon my face could take it?

Thanks

Welshgal85 · 05/01/2022 13:33

How about a vitamin c? That’s good for brightening!

SirVixofVixHall · 05/01/2022 14:59

Welshgal yes, before bed, but about an hour before sleep. My last oil had a slight orangey colour to it, my white pillowcases have yellowed where my face would be. I have tried lots of stain removers, nothing is shifting it.

Thanks. In cream form or capsules? If so, does anyone recommend a Vit C cream for sensitive skin?

Sorry to come back to this thread so late, but this (attached photo) is Aldi's Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate dupe, not the rosehip oil linked by a PP.

I've been using it for a week now and genuinely cannot tell the difference aside from the packaging. It looks, feels, smells, and performs the same, but is £6.99 vs £54. I'll give it another couple of weeks to be sure, but as long as Aldi still have this available, I'll save my cash and use it over the Kiehl's one.

I use Awake Organics Frankinsense serum.

ArabeI · 15/01/2022 19:30

I occasionally use Typology Macerat huileux de carotte bio as a night moisturiser, if my skin is feeling slightly dry or tired.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/01/2022 19:50

DD has a dry sensitive skin.
She likes the Aldi one (Rosehip) but the bottle neck broke when the lid got stuck and we had to throw it out as a risk of glass fragments in the oil

Sukin Rosehip is her go-to , often on special offer in Boots

I bought the Aldi CBS one - gave me the mother of all spots on my face for it is sved gor my neck only

rambleonplease · 19/01/2022 14:37

I have just ordered this vitamin C serum. It gets very good review even up against much more expensive serums so giving it a go.

The HUDA even rose oil one is beautiful!! My skin looks really even and lovely and keep getting compliments. Although lack of sleep last night and I look bloody awful again haha.

myfacelookslikeatoe · 19/01/2022 16:18

@AhThisAgain Ooh that B one has a lovely mix that sounds similar to the pricier HUDA one I'm using!

professionalnomad · 20/01/2022 18:20

Dry sensitive skin
I always go back to rosehip seed oil - bloody love the stuff

Welshgal85 · 20/01/2022 19:46

Sorry I’ve only just seen this! I use Oskia vitamin c serum. I hear Murad is meant to be good too and Eucerin, or Medik8 there are so many out there!
