Is it just me or are Boden clothes usually a weensy bit disappointing when they arrive compared to how they look in the catalogue ?

Ordered a few things in the sale including a couple of skirts.

One was wool and from the picture I anticipated it to be reasonably thick and at my knees, when it came it was very thin and cheap looking and even at sale price not worth the money so now I am bagging it up to send back. The other skirt is ok, but again a lot thinner than it looked in the photo.

Anyone else experienced this or is it just me ?

So frumpy, and quality is crap. I used to be a designer so know a bit about fabrics etc.

Knitwear and printed stuff always arrives smelling of cheap overseas factories (prob India), I recognise that smell. Fabric absolutely shit. sent for shirt recently that was the crappest cheapest cotton sheeting you can buy.

They should make in England and use good quality fabrics for that price. Also knitwear always itchy-scratchy, which also means cheap

bigwombat · 19/01/2008 21:57

Haven't bought anything from them for about 3 years, but it used to be good quality. Surprised to hear how cheap it has become. Have a couple of tops bought 5+ years ago which I've worn to death and they're still going strong in good condition. Think the place must have gone to pot by the sound of it!

Wuxiapian · 19/01/2008 22:24

Wasn't any of it good, Wicked?

WideWebWitch · 20/01/2008 10:03

Wux, I kept about £150 worth

Wuxiapian · 20/01/2008 13:17

So, Wicked, were the returns because of quality?

Highlander · 21/01/2008 11:22

oh dear, have just spent 170 smackewrs.

gutted if tops v short, and it will be going back if there's child labour involved

hoarsewhisperer · 21/01/2008 12:18

mine arrived on friday and i have to say I am pleasantly surprised...

i bought the knot front dress and it's lovely and fully lined
the cashmere cropped cardi was lovely too

Bought a pair of trews which are nice heavy cotton and the tunic top i bought is perfect.

kids clothes good too.....

so - no complaints from me....apart from the patterns in general in this collection

Wuxiapian · 21/01/2008 12:33

Mixed feedback for Boden.

My order was dispatched saturday and I can't decide whether to be excited or worried.

SilentTerror · 21/01/2008 12:35

Hoarsewhisperer, did you buy the Merino Tunic? Am awaiting delivery of mine!
Have also bought Knot Front dress in green, so fingers crossed for that too.
Agree about patterns this year though.

hoarsewhisperer · 21/01/2008 15:15

yes, it was the merino tunic - it's very fine knit and is really nice. Looks good on and is not too long. Got the white trews to go with it as i like whi te trousers in the summer, but not ifyou can see my bum! so together they go really well

I got the dress in the blue. it's really pretty on

SilentTerror · 21/01/2008 18:31

Thanks Hoarse whisperer. Will await parcel with interest!

hoxtonchick · 21/01/2008 19:23

ooh, i have ordered merino tunic & tied knot dress. hope i'm as happy as you hoarsewhisperer!

hoarsewhisperer · 23/01/2008 07:51

We could all meet up wearing exactly the same thing......attack of the clones!!

hoxtonchick · 23/01/2008 10:21

that might be a little spooky.... apparently tunics are on their way but the dress is coming in a couple of weeks. humph. still, it is only january .

hoarsewhisperer · 23/01/2008 11:19

yeah plenty of time. I have to say that living outside the UK one of the things i love is that no one I meet here ever has any boden...except one of my friends who has totally different taste to me and picks all the things i don't.

hoxtonchick · 23/01/2008 11:24

perfect! where do you live ?

bundle · 23/01/2008 11:29

I quite like this tunic

Twinkie1 · 23/01/2008 11:30

Have one of their coats and love it - but there tops are made for people with the shortest bodies in the world!

hoxtonchick · 23/01/2008 11:31

i liked the shape of that one bundy, but wasn't sure about the prints.... i don't like to scream boden if i can help it .

bundle · 23/01/2008 11:37

snort. i like the colour of your blue tunic, but wd prefer it in heavy linen, rather than merino. hate how wool takes on my bum shape in that length of garment. ahem.

hoxtonchick · 23/01/2008 11:41

i am hoping they will be a more spring-friendly version of my uniqlo merino jumper dresses which i have lived in this winter & have in 4 colours.... they were a lot cheaper than the boden ones though!

hoarsewhisperer · 23/01/2008 11:52

i live in HOlland Hoxtonchick

rosybud · 23/01/2008 12:02

I have just received my vast Boden order and it is nearly all going back.
Agree with comments about fabric cut and quality, used to be sooo much nicer, i have been a Boden customer for years and have really noticed how rubbish it has become despite the prices.
I am keeping the merino tunic (obv very popular!) and a couple of plain t-shirts.
Am so disappointed, think i might write a letter of complaint!!

CaptainCod · 23/01/2008 12:02

IF YOU DONT LIEK IT THEN SHOP SLEWHERE

bundle · 23/01/2008 12:03
