Babyliss Big Hair or is there something better?

I’ve had the BBH for several years and loved it. It’s finally died & want to ask DH to get me a replacement for Christmas. But I’m sure I read here that there are now some alternatives and I wondered what these are and what people think of them compared to the BBH?

My hair is a bit shorter now, about shoulder length. Any recommendations, pros & cons would be great.

Excellent question Coffeepot!

@Coffeepot72 @NarcissistsEyebrows My hair is just touching my shoulders and quite fine. The barrel of the Babyliss is round so I find there’s more volume involved, especially at the ends which flicks under more dramatically. The Revlon One touch has more of a paddle, flat sided barrel so I find it’s less volume and straight, not so much flicking under.
In terms of root volume I find the One Touch easier to actually get to the root but maybe that’s just my technique!

@Amelion I’m considering the Amika hair drier that you recommended, but wondering if it will work with my shortish (chin length) hair? And have you found the quality to be good after a few months (slightly worried by reviews saying that it stopped working after a few months!). Many thanks!

That's helpful click. My hair is thick and I don't want more volume, I just want it to look nicer!

Hopefully attached a pic of what I'm working with

@NarcissistsEyebrows You have lovely hair and it’s a gorgeous colour! I reckon the One Touch would suit you better than the Babyliss as I think your hair could be prone to tangling in the rotating barrel (like mine). The One Touch is easier to use and smooths as it goes.
Disclaimer - I’m not a hairdresser, expert or known for my hair tips lol!

I didn't get on with the BBH and ended up selling it. The lady who bought it from me couldn't believe it!

Is the One Touch with the square brush any good or is it the round one?

Amelion · 18/01/2022 15:33

@missmoon - I have a long bob, just to my collar bone so maybe slightly longer than yours? I like it but it’s quite a big barrel so I’m not sure it would be good if you wanted a very precise finish if that makes sense. It works for my hair to either turn it in neatly at the ends or make it more swishy/flicky (some bits turned in some out).

Quality - so far it’s ok but yes I saw some bad reviews too! I guess it would be under warranty but best to get it from somewhere reputable etc.
