Babyliss Big Hair or is there something better?

I’ve had the BBH for several years and loved it. It’s finally died & want to ask DH to get me a replacement for Christmas. But I’m sure I read here that there are now some alternatives and I wondered what these are and what people think of them compared to the BBH?

My hair is a bit shorter now, about shoulder length. Any recommendations, pros & cons would be great.

Same question so watching with interest!

Tinks15 · 20/12/2021 22:34

Following too

NameChangeinHaste · 20/12/2021 22:51

I bought a Revlon one step hairdryer brush in the Black Friday sale, and I love it!
I’m rubbish at blow drying my hair, but this makes it so easy to get smooth swishy hair.
I think the fact it doesn’t spin makes it easier for me, as I’d be bound to get it tangled up.

BrownEyedWoman · 20/12/2021 22:56

Agree with @NameChangeinHaste the Revlon One Step is brilliant! I have thick, curly (frizzy) hair and the ROS makes it manageable and swishy in 15 mins. Much easier than the BBH because of the fixed brush. Was on offer in Boots recently.

Campervan69 · 20/12/2021 23:12

I've literally just had the one step delivered so delighted to read this.

Nsws2015 · 21/12/2021 06:36

My one step died on me last week, I got the progloss revamp airstyler yesterday after debating between that and the babyliss big hair (the diamond with big and small brushes is on offer on amazon £31.99) am yet to try the revamp but it had good reviews so 🤞

Tinks15 · 21/12/2021 06:43

I’ve read that the BBH & the Revlon give different finishes.
Does anyone know what each to?

indiesearcher · 21/12/2021 07:35

I've had both.

Big hair went in the charity box after two attempts - took forever on my thick wavy hair, hair got stuck in the barrel, had to do in tiny sections and the look was too prim (think Kate Middleton blow dry). Basically not for me.

The Revlon one step however has changed my life - I'm not joking. I can get salon swishy hair in 30 mins. I've had mine 2 years and it did die last week but for £37 that's a lot of blow dries saved. It is easy, fast, gives beautifully smooth voluminous hair. I cannot rave about it enough. I have just replaced it and saw a titanium version for £70 but I've gone with the origins again as it was on offer.

I have been tempted by the Dyson air wrap as an upgrade but I've watched a few comparison reviews on YouTube and I don't think I need to spend 10x as much when the Revlon does a fabulous job!

NynaeveSedai · 21/12/2021 07:37

I have had two big hairs but they both died quite quickly and I suspect they were getting hair tangled in the mechanism which led to getting stuck. I also found the results a bit Kate Middleton. I'm going to put the revlon in my Amazon basket to buy after Christmas! Thanks

Sammysquiz · 21/12/2021 07:52

Another fan of the One Step here! I’ve bought soooo many hair gadgets over the years, and this is by far the best.

Peaseblossum22 · 21/12/2021 08:30

I live my BBH I have had mine for about 4 years and live the fact that I can use it between washes to smooth my hair out or get a bit of volume. But it’s looking a bit tatty now and also I do think it pulls my hair . Wondering about trying the Revlin after reading these reviews

LBB2020 · 21/12/2021 08:30

Oh I’m pleased to read this thread! DH has bought me a revlon one step for Christmas! Are there any styling products you’d recommend to use with it?

Roselilly36 · 21/12/2021 08:33

I love the big hair, but I might also be tempted to buy the one step.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/12/2021 08:36

Revlon One Step. Big Hair doesn't last on my hair and also I had a lot of breakage.

Littlemiss74 · 21/12/2021 08:40

Thanks everyone think I might give the revlon one a go judging by these reviews

I have both and prefer the One Step

PuppyMonkey · 21/12/2021 08:42

I’ve used both BBH and the Revlon brush and I don’t know whether it’s just my hair, but I found with both after the first few hours my hair started frizzing up again. Put me off them a bit.

Like PP though, I think the best thing about BBH is using it in between washes on dry hair to re-bounce your hair after you’ve slept on it and make it all shiny and nice again.

Littlemiss74 · 21/12/2021 08:45

Just had a quick look online and there are varying prices for the revlon one. Are there different versions of the same thing & if so any suggestions as to which to go for? I need to give DH his instructions today!😀

larrythelizard · 21/12/2021 08:52

Oh this looks interesting, can you use the revlon one step on wet hair? I bought a heated brush a few years ago and you can't use it on wet hair which isn't what I thought I was getting!

Ducksareruiningmypatio · 21/12/2021 08:56

I have the Revlon.
GAME CHANGER!
I can finally get a bouncy smooth blow dry.
I use frizz ease 3 day smooth with it and a heat protector

SadandSaggy · 21/12/2021 09:38

I have BBH and think it pulls my hair out. Would the Revlon one be better?

BruceAndNosh · 21/12/2021 09:41

I have the Tresemme Air styler and apparently am the only person who loves it! Just don't use it on the hottest setting, no need.

Milomonster · 21/12/2021 09:43

Another vote for Revlon. I found out about it here and ordered immediately. I got the one with the smaller brush as I like to curl my ends (I have long layered hair). I absolutely love it!

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/12/2021 09:46

Ooh - is the one step less pull-y?

I love the big hair but worried it was pulling at my hair too much.

lborgia · 21/12/2021 10:04

I'm afraid I got the knock-off version of the Revlon, and it's amazing.

I realise that, in theory, it might die in 2 months, but so far it's fantastic. I keep that in one place, and the Big Hair in another, so I use both. The one step version seems less good for my hair, but it's def faster, so that might be more important?

I've just seen the Revlon is dramatically reduced, so maybe go with the named brand.
