SOTD MMM Fireplace. My FM Hiver arrived today. Bless DP, he ordered direct from FM and was allowed two samples - he deliberately picked things i already have because he knew I liked them. I see his logic, but he is rather missing the point of samples!

I did that Penhaligons discovery thing the other day, it popped up on Instagram, so have a couple of samples coming from there. I thought it matched me pretty well based on what I would have chosen, but that might have been pure co-incidence! I have Lily of the Valley and the one everyone raves about beginning with H (Halfethi?) on their way.

SOTD was Jungle Elephant.

I’ve only recently got into perfume and need some advice from you experts - I have a bottle of MMM Fireplace that I’ve used around half of, but I’m keen to move onto a spring scent now. If I keep it in its box will it still be fine by winter?

Also - I’m thinking of Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom and the Nectarine and Honey for spring… any thoughts?

Welcome @smorgasbords! Whilst the two Jo Malones you name are pretty, in my experience they don't last long and they're quite spendy. If you particularly like orange blossom, which is a great choice for spring by the way, then I recommend a perfume from a small company that has good lasting power and is cheaper than Jo Malone. It's called Hera and it's from Karen Timson Fine Fragrances. It's one of the best I've ever smelled.

If you like Nectarine then I would recommend Elizabeth Arden Green tea Nectarine Blossom. It lasts about as long as the Jo Malone but only costs about a tenner.

SOTD Artiscent Atelier Spring Fleur from Superdrug. It was half price so only 5.98 a few weeks back. It's a fresh green floral.

@smorgasbords yes, if you keep your fragrance in its box in a dark place like a drawer it'll be fine next winter.

SOTD Prada Infusion d'Iris EDP. It's very green and lovely but doesn't last as long as the similar Chanel No 19 EDT. I'll just have to spray more on!

SOTD FM Hiver. My Penhaligons samples came and I love the lily of the valley one. Halfeti is probably not for me.

The Penhaligons look interesting, but I really can’t buy any more samples at the moment. I did a quick calculation last night and I seem to have acquired about 250ml in samples and minis over the last few weeks. A lot of these are cheap PP and Eden dumps, but even so. I also need to get to know some of these better, rather than having two or three on various bits of my arms at any one time.

That said, my 30ml of Gallivant Tel Aviv and a 3 x 10ml set of Miller Harris (Secret Gardenia, Scherzo and Rose Silence) are arriving today! And I also noticed on the 4160 Tuesdays website that you can get a set of seven samples where you choose which ones to try. Sitting on hands.

Well, my buying ban lasted all of two hours. Got an email from PP saying the dupe of By the Fireplace was back in stock, so had to order a small bottle of that (plus the Prada iris one, TF Neroli Portofino and Creed Virgin Island, to justify the postage 😂).

Well, my 4160tuesdays special finally arrived...
It's unusual. Its called Randalls random amber - It's got a coca cola vibe I like but I don't think ill reach for it often. Same with JLo one. It's lovely but I just won't use it often enough to keep it.

SOTD Byredo Bibliotheque.

SOTD yesterday was Ambre Sultan - thick and warm for a damp, rainy trip to have blood taken.
Today it's Ambre Narguile - cosy spiced apple for a chill evening.

I suppose very soon I'll have to start unearthing my spring scents and (sadly) packing up my winter collection. At the moment it's still quite cold, so I think I might be safe for a couple more weeks.

I don’t have winter and summer things. I am naughty. I spray vetiver in the middle of winter and incense when it’s hot 🙂 I don’t go for sweet things though.

Today’s SOTD is iso e super and my post covid smell is nearly back to normal.

I use perfumes all year round too...In the long hot summer of 2019 I wore 4160tuesdays Mrs gloss indoors A LOT. I found it oddly refreshing

Last summer I mostly wore avon lbd weekend, 4160tuesdays SSOTPE, iso e super and next eau nude

SOTD MH Secret Gardenia. Out this evening, might go for Scherzo or maybe Gallivant London.

SOTD Chanel 5, and one of my students told me I smelled lovely!

I am definitely a seasonal perfume person. There are some that are all year round, but things like TF Soleil Blanc and Heeley Sel Marin I would never wear in winter. Likewise I wouldn’t ever reach for BTF or Coco in warm weather.
