@Judystilldreamsofhorses Coco is fabulous - so warm and wonderful, I've no idea why I don't reach for it more often.

@MaureenCocoaJones I know exactly what you mean about that slight oily note in Mitsouko, although to me it smells more like petrol! Thank goodness it's quite brief (at least on me).

Guerlain's Nahema is Sotd.
I fancied smelling of hyacinths in a harbinger of Spring. The Guerlain packaging is really cheap & nasty now for some reason, though I do like the new bottles.
@Frenchfoodie I'm glad you like Gold.
It feels familiar to me too - I think maybe it's the Lavender & Geranium which are so often in mens scents. The perfumes are so beautifully blended that it's difficult to ascertain individual notes. I believe the Cinammon leaf is the spice, Patchouli the woody element & the opoponax is the warm balsamic element. Lemon Tree is as equally brilliant as Gold. It manages to smell of playdoh in the heart notes. Another really addictive smell for me. As one of 4 kids my parents used to buy us plasticine as playdoh was expensive at that stage. My cousin's had playdoh and I was so jealous 😂

I feel the same as you about plasticine vs plyadoh @Fferny1 - I’m one of three kids brought up by a single mum most of our childhood and we always had plasticine (or its pound shop equivalent). I only remember 1x McDonalds trip in our childhood (tbf we lived in the middle of nowhere) and it was solely focused on getting a small tup of playdoh in our happy meals. Not certain about how I feel about it in a perfume but I still cant be near a tub without having a sniff.

SOTD Gold, Perfumer H. Doesnt last (though samples without sprays are so hard to guage) but like my other favourite - CdG Sugi - I can forgive it.

i opened the cupboard door to where all my perfumes are kept and oh boy, its a lot. theres a huge tub of samples and minis as well. most of the minis are the 4ml sizes 4160tuesdays used to do

SOTD Le Mat by Menditerosa (sp?) from a Les Senteurs sample pack. I didn't rate this when I first tried it, but I'm retrying all my samples and I love this today. It's at the intersection of Ruth Mastenbroek's Firedance & 4160 Captured by Candlelight. I find Firedance a bit much, but this is a little bit less shouty, but with added booziness. What's not to love?

Well, the training was pointless and I may even have to book another session

Hi everyone, hope you're all well and smelling wonderful.

I've been trying HooHaa lately. It's a monthly subscription thing and you get a 10ml bottle of niche for 14.95. So far none of them have led me to full bottle territory but the way I see it, it's also a cheap way of trying niche when it's hard to get samples. I don't work for them, I just like them. The latest 10ml spray I had was Thurible by Rook which is beautifully churchy and does what it says it will.

I've also been wearing Calvin Klein Contradiction which is a fabulously icy rose in a skyscraper bottle.

If anyone's missing Gucci Envy ( a million hands go up) I have the Eden dupe and I swear by it. Fabulous for spring- all that hyacinth!

SOTD MG Plum for yet more training - but a four day weekend ahead which is good news!

@MissBattleaxe that sounds interesting, I must investigate. Gucci Envy reminds me of my dad dropping dead when I was in my 20s - he was 52 and it was a terrible shock - but it was a case of right scent/wrong time and I am still sad it’s been discontinued. I also strongly associate Calvin Klein Eternity with him because his work syndicate had a pools win and he bought me a bottle - a much happier memory!

Was meandering around MN the other night and was reading a post about a signature red lip. Sounds like Judy I thought, and lo, it was. .

In other news, I have taken advantage of the rash of Shay and Blue 10mls cropping up on eBay to try a few other things. (Are these all from luxe calendars?).

I don't know how I feel about Shay and Blue. Are they another operator in the Jo Malone, 'does what it says on the tin' mould, or something a bit more interesting?

Their back catalogue contains Suffolk Lavender, a splendid concoction of incense, melon and lavender, which is all the better for having no obvious connection to Suffolk?

Of my recent buys, Blacks Club Leather stands out as having the most character, and has a sweet balsamy quality, that tempers the smoke and leather.

Oud Alif is a very smooth agar wood-style oud. Kings Wood is rather pedestrian masculine wood. Lilac and Gooseberries smells of neither on my skin, but is a pleasant non-sweet fruit floral. These three all feel a bit like a photo that has been optimised; smoothed and balanced, but potentially at the expense of some character?

Hope the investigations give reassuring answers @Judystilldreamsofhorses , must be stressful. mmm btf is my comfort scent too, I dont turn to it a lot but is like a cozy blanket of an autumn/winter scent for me.

SOTD Perfumer H Gold. I’m a broken record of late - and very grateful for their generous sample.

For those cursing online training I am on about day 100 of 3h a day with the same trainer.she is absolutely lovely but I have never had so much contact with one person and I think we are both sick of each other by friday each week.

SOTD is Jungle Elephant. This is a very cosy scent, warmed by clove and rich vanilla - it feels to me like snuggling under a blanket with a candle flickering in the corner.

That sounds tough @Opal8, I hope both you and your mum are OK.
