SOTD was Youth Dew for a frosty walk to the doctors.

Continuing the winter theme, SOTE is Ambre Sultan. ❄️Smile

Oh dear @Opal that doesn't sound too good!

@Frenchfoodie I would love to visit the Perfumer H shop. Lucky you if you can use your failing computer as an excuse.
Gold is so beautiful and I've used nearly all of my dabber sample. Be warned though Lyn Harris's perfumes are generally pretty understated but nonetheless stunning. I dont mind that as I'm happy to spray frequently, as it smells so wonderful. Have you seen Persolaise's review of Gold on YouTube?
It's rather a lot of waffling on & a bit of reviewing 😂

Sotd is Vintage Paris. I've had this decant for quite a while and the too notes are smelling rather acetone- like.
Once they blow away it still smells gorgeous. Interesting though my Vintage EDT is probably stronger than the bottle of Edp I've just bought & dates from 2015.

Form1ess · 14/01/2022 10:10

SOTD Maison Matine Avant L'Orage, a warm vanilla sandalwood for a cold damp day.

DrJakes · 14/01/2022 11:41

@Judystilldreamsofhorses

Sorry, just clarifying, he didn’t throw it really, it was just a stupid accident, in case anyone thinks I should LTB.

Finally got to try Mitsouko in HOF branch….45 minutes…just about to wash it off Hmm

Opal8 · 14/01/2022 14:43

Was a scrubber for me too! @FormerlySpeckledyHen

(Most guerlains are though)

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 14/01/2022 15:14

Scrubber! 🤣 love it!
Made my nose tingle and eyes 👀 almost watery. Recognised it too obviously 🙄 without knowing what it was.

Opal8 · 14/01/2022 15:16

It's powdery in a bad way
(And I usually love powder in fragrance)

The first time I tried Mitsouko about 9 years ago I thought it smelled of petrol and peaches. My taste has changed over the last 8 years or so and now it's top of my birthday list. Can't wait to get a bottle, but EDP not EDT.

MissBattleaxe · 14/01/2022 16:56

Also, today on the blog I reviewed MMM Replica Whispers in The Library. It does exactly what it says it will and I love it. It's not going to fill a room though. The library would have to be more of a bookshelf. I can't post a link because the mods delete links and ask questions later. But it's on iscentyouaday.

Opal8 · 14/01/2022 19:46

Very nice review 👌

Great blog post @MissBattleaxe! WITL is going on my to-try list. I read your review of MM BTF and was so pleased you could detect a hint of incense amongst the smoke, wood, vanilla and cloves - I have always thought this, but was worried it was just me! It's not the frankincense variety of incense at all, but the sort you can buy from a market - I find BTF strongly reminiscent of a brand called Nag Champa. Smile

SOTD was Mitsouko - one of my favourites but definitely a marmite fragrance. To me, this is more of a late summer to early autumn scent, a time when the light is golden and there is a bit of warmth in the air. Am going to put my bottle away until then.

FestivelyScent · 14/01/2022 21:19

My post should say: a bit of warmth in the air during the day, but the nights are drawing in and turning chilly. Glitchy keyboard. 🙄

1frenchfoodie · 14/01/2022 22:25

Thanks for the Gold review tip @Fferny1 - though I now know where to head if at a loose end in Antibes I’m a bit confused about Gold itself - a musky orange blossom wasnt really what I got from your description or the notes - even if he clearly loved the scent.

Work are couriering me a new laptop so a London trip has to wait - plus using my (10 year old!) personal iPad for work has left me fearing an expensive replacement that should trump any new perfume purchases. So hard being a grownup…

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/01/2022 23:15

SOTD Black Opium.

MissBattleaxe · 15/01/2022 12:03

Thank you @Opal8 and @FestivelyScent!

SOTD Floris 1988, Galbanum and a lovely sort white musk drydown.

Form1ess · 15/01/2022 15:59

Mitsouko is on my list to try after reading the very different opinions on here.
SOTD Lune Feline, first time I tried it I wasn't that bothered but come winter and I love it's smoky vanilla. Sadly my tester is now finished.

Fferny1 · 15/01/2022 17:49

Absolutely fab article on you & Sarah posted in Facebook by 4160 Tuesdays @Missbattleaxe. Fantastic pictures too ❣️

Sotd is Perfumer H Moss.

MissBattleaxe · 15/01/2022 18:28

Yes we are chuffed to beans with lovely Rich Goller's piece. He's a perfume blogger too and a brilliant photographer. Nice chap. I love this article because it kind of has our personalities in it. Thanks for mention @Fferny1 💐

AprilLady · 15/01/2022 18:49

@MissBattleaxe, I’m blaming you. It’s thanks to your book and the reviews of Papillon that I ordered their sample set. They’re all interesting and I suspect more will grow on me, but I am really, really loving Tobacco Rose. It’s definitely now on my wish list.

SOTD Papillon Tobacco Rose, am absolute delight for lovers of rose fragrances.

MissBattleaxe · 15/01/2022 19:18

@AprilLady You've chosen well! In all my nine years of blogging that's one of the longest lasting perfumes I have ever tried. Two sprays = 24 hours. I am friends with Liz the perfumer and she is a wonderful person. Worth the investment I'd say!

FestivelyScent · 15/01/2022 21:43

SOTD has been Coco, for a quiet Saturday indoors.

Are your electrics OK @Opal8? I've had my fingers crossed. 🤞

Opal8 · 15/01/2022 21:44

All back on since 6pm! Thank you x

Am rather relieved!
