I'm getting married next year - it will be the second time, after a disastrous marriage in my mid to late twenties. We divorced and my now fiance and I got together quite quickly, and also had a baby relatively quickly! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I don't want a white ans weddingy dress 🙈

I have already considered this one - is it too guesty?

I’m awful at links sorry! But this came up on my Instagram after reading this thread and I thought I should share just incase.

Sooverthemill · 07/12/2021 12:12

I haven't read the full thread but, you can send a note with invites saying 'bride will be wearing green' or whatever you decide in case people really need to know! I don't think you need to and green is all seasons isn't it? A dark Christmas green may not be but so many gorgeous shades. I got married in a Navy and pale blue burnt velvet dress. It's up to you

notoldjustpastyoung · 07/12/2021 17:56

Any colour but that green. I really think it's a bit in your face if you know what I mean. I doesn't have to be pastel, how about turquoise a red/maroon.

Pliudev · 07/12/2021 18:39

Green is a summer colour! I might be getting this wrong but a floral head dress of some kind would look lovely with either of those dresses OP. Everyone would know you were the bride then.

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 07/12/2021 18:52

I like the one in your OP- floral crown, loose hair, it’s got a medieval look about it.

Skysblue · 07/12/2021 18:55

I like the dress. Anything can look weddingy if you have flowers in your hair and hand, sparkly jewellery at neck and posh make up / shoes.

CassandrasCastle · 07/12/2021 21:07

Yes, I like the idea of hair half up half down and some kind of crown...need to grow my hair a bit 😬 I'm still imagining a metal flower headpiece of some kind but can't quite work out what to Google. Haha to the PP who said literally any colour but that green Grin

I'm going to try to rent the Vampires Wife one in January, although it might make it feel a bit less special (was thinking of wearing it to a fancy dinner with DP 😬)

@CassandrasCastle

This is me actually in the first one..
Stunning, I love it. It's your wedding, you wear what you are happy to wear.
Hydrate · 07/12/2021 21:53

@ESGdance

Here is Kate in it and another image from somewhere else.
I was just going to post a link to Late in Vogue wearing it. I love it, very striking!

I agree the first one suits you better than the model. I'm assuming it's a reasonably casual wedding? With great shoes, jewellery, hair, bouquet, I think you would look absolutely beautiful. And it will also look much better when it's steamed/ironed of course! I think it's great.

I think the first dress looks great on you - get yourself a nice headress / tiara / flower crown and team it with some posh shoes (as you can't go comfy unless a dress is full length). Go for it.

I too have red hair so wore a silver dress with green embroidery and a dark green veil - which I loved (but my grandmother didn't - but she didn't like much). Getting something made can be relatively cheap if you don't go for expensive fabrics - my dress was acetate satin (rather than the silk the dressmaker wanted) as it looked the same but was a lot cheaper.

Be you / be comfy / be happy. Since I got married 20-odd years ago, I have had a deal to give the next friend not to wear white / cream a v good bottle of fizz - I've still got it.

Touchmybum · 08/12/2021 02:57

Maybe look at slightly more traditional wedding dresses but in a different colour? I wore a pale pink silk dupion designer dress over 30 years ago. I was the only one of my friends not to wear white/ivory/cream. The bodice and sleeves had gorgeous silver embroidery and pearls. I would dye it black and wear it again if I was ever stupid enough to marry for a second time lol!! Only one other of my friends went for non-traditional and her dress was gold satin. She wanted black but her mother wouldn’t let her!!

DedalusBloom · 08/12/2021 05:46

What about something like this Bombshellhq dress?

I want a non white wedding dress. Please help!
DedalusBloom · 08/12/2021 05:48

... it's a dark green, doesn't show up well on my phone in the picture. Grin

greatape · 08/12/2021 06:45

My massively unhelpful addition to the thread is that traditionally it's unlucky to get married in green. I know this because green is my favourite colour and I wanted a green dress but my mother banged on and on about it and I didn't find one special enough to balance out her insanity.

I love the first one on you but it is similar to something I'd wear as a guest so I say keep it but maybe not wedding. That velvet bombshell one is lovely although maybe not green enough? I think that could very easily be styled up.

Not a fan of the Vampires Wife one on Kate. Looks a bit flat.

And I say September - autumn weddings are lovely.

bestbl · 08/12/2021 07:03

These are two of my favourite green wedding dresses. I wore the first one as a bridesmaid but it's so beautiful it could be a wedding dress

I love the Maje one. I might have to treat myself to that for parties! I think accessorised well with fabulous shoes and headpiece and a long trailing bouquet it will be stunning.

VenusClapTrap · 08/12/2021 07:14

Pay no heed to the green is unlucky at weddings thing. I was told that. I still put my bridesmaids in green and although my dress was ivory, it was embroidered all over with trailing sage green foliage.
