I'm getting married next year - it will be the second time, after a disastrous marriage in my mid to late twenties. We divorced and my now fiance and I got together quite quickly, and also had a baby relatively quickly! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I don't want a white ans weddingy dress 🙈

I have already considered this one - is it too guesty?

Even if you decide not to get married in it you should keep the green dress, looks v good on you!

Leobynature · 04/12/2021 17:55

It’s not the colour of the dress which is the issue, it just doesn’t look like a wedding dress to me. I would wear that as the guest.

Hewasperfect · 04/12/2021 18:01

You look amazing in the green dress. For a wedding dress I agree with PP though that something a bit more WOW would be nice... Full length (love the Claudia dress someone linked to above), bigger skirt, more special material, sparkly... (not necessarily all of these at once Grin )

CassandrasCastle · 04/12/2021 18:03

Annoying that green isn't seen as very summery

Any WOW examples? (Can't see the Claudia one?) Unfortunately I just don't have the budget for this one, which someone else kindly suggested

You could get one made?

I didn’t want to wear a white dress so got one tailor made, it cost around £600 to have it made. I got beautiful material and the dress was very bridal - long with a small train, very special, even though it wasn’t white.

CassandrasCastle · 04/12/2021 18:18

I do like these 2 Self Portrait ones! More weddingy than I'd thought though

[quote nanbread]That's lovely but I wonder if something more stand-out like this would make it more bridey?

Seriously that’s over a grand, it’s unlikely she’d be looking at dresses at a couple of hundred quid if she could splurge thousands.

I never understand some peoples privilege on here.

CassandrasCastle · 04/12/2021 18:20

white/cream tends to wash me out but areas these are 'special'..? Hmm.

@CassandrasCastle needle and thread dresses? Lovely and could be bridal!

KristinAmandaThomas · 04/12/2021 18:26

You do look amazing in the 1st dress OP. I love The Vampires Wife one as well…but sorry to say both are autumn/winter colouring for me. Having said which I think both would be lovely non traditional low key wedding dresses. Change your date!

ItsATIARA · 04/12/2021 18:26

Special namechange in honour of the fact that the first dress is lovely and all it needs to make it property bridal is a greenery-heavy bouquet, a headdress/veil and ideally a TIARA. With red hair I think it would make an instant transformation.

Maybe don't go into the tiara-fanciers thread though, most of the things they pick there are covered in socking great diamonds and roughly the same price as a terraced house.

Bluntness100 · 04/12/2021 18:32

And if you really wished to dress up…

You should wear what you like and feel good in. If you like it, and get married in it, it's bridal enough! Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 04/12/2021 18:43

The first one looks lovely on you, and that shade of green isn't really autumn/winntery. I can imagine it looking good on a redhead with a floral leafy garland type of thing.

CassandrasCastle · 04/12/2021 18:44

I don't have a date! Grin Wondering about September

I'd love some kind of ivy/flower crown...pr maybe some metal flowers! Love the name change Grin

CassandrasCastle · 04/12/2021 18:48

Afraid I don't like any of those dresses Bluntness - but thank you very much for suggesting!

I'm now quite into the idea of a garland/half garland of metal flowers...if that exists and is nice

clatterclatter · 04/12/2021 18:50

Love love love the first one OP, it does look fabulous and I think if you went for a more autumnal date it could be absolutely stunning.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/12/2021 18:51

Some of the other suggestions are lovely but look to me very much like 'evening dresses', not really something to wear in the day even for a wedding.

It does of course depend somewhat on what sort of wedding you're thinking of, what type of venue.

And the other thing I like about the general style of the first one vs some of the others is that it looks much easier to wear and move around in, which is a consideration if you've got a baby/toddler.

Divebar2021 · 04/12/2021 19:02

I’d love to go to a wedding where the bride wore a dress from Vampires Wife. Whatever dress you choose may a suggest a beautiful headpiece to elevate it slightly. Something from Hood London would be awesome - they make headpieces for Dita Von Teese. The Hood designer Adele Mildred is also super cool. ( for some reason it won’t let me link )
