I'm getting married next year - it will be the second time, after a disastrous marriage in my mid to late twenties. We divorced and my now fiance and I got together quite quickly, and also had a baby relatively quickly! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I don't want a white ans weddingy dress 🙈

I have already considered this one - is it too guesty?

Oh, I did a lot of research into forest green wedding dresses this year (then plumped for a white, but but V casual one in the end)

This from reformation is amazing but be warned it is quite sheer in person: www.thereformation.com/products/winslow-dress?color=Emerald&via=Z2lkOi8vcmVmb3JtYXRpb24td2VibGluYy9Xb3JrYXJlYTo6Q2F0YWxvZzo6Q2F0ZWdvcnkvNWE2YWRmZDJmOTJlYTExNmNmMDRlOWM3

I also lusted over this velvet bodysuit for ages: www.nancymac.co.uk/products/sable-jumpsuit-in-peacock-silk-velvet-1

I think green is an excellent wedding dress colour - all about abundance in a May queen/pagan-y sort of way Grin massive Midsommar flower crown needed for full effect Wink

I had mine made. It was a cream sheath with a moss green chiffon coat with roses embroidered all over. My first (only) wedding but I was 40 and white felt a bit too young.
I like the style of your dress but not the colour.

I'm a redhead and had an emerald green wedding dress made to measure by Dig For Victory. White (or it's many permutations) never felt like a good fit for me and I didn't like the symbolism. Of course everyone we invited knew who the bride was!

CassandrasCastle · 05/12/2021 14:16

Haha, tis true - people will know who the bride is! I don't want my toddler to wear white either...

The vampires wife one is stunning. I love green. I got married in a bronze sequinned floor length dress on a February day that was unseasonably warm, so I wouldn't worry about the weather factor. It would be fine for a September wedding - with red hair as well that's a lovely au

  • sorry, pressed send too soon!

Sali Hughes the beauty journalist got married in that VW dress.
I love a deep green but agree it looks more appropriate for a Winter wedding, it is a Wintry dress. The Maje is more all seasons and you do look lovely in it, but I think you could go for more drama. How about something in a silver, or gold ?

CassandrasCastle · 05/12/2021 14:58

Did she! Good taste... I'm really fond of the Maje one now, but worried it isn't 'special' enough:( I do hope flowers would help up the drama

You have a stunning figure and totally deserve to wear The Vampires Wife one - it’s a cut above. How long do you think it is?

shinynewapple21 · 05/12/2021 17:38

I love the first dress you have posted , and the picture of you wearing it is lovely. Of course it's suitable for you to get married in - don't feel you have to buy a coloured version of a traditional white dress. I like the neckline of your first dress - don't like high necklines .

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2021 19:17

It’s good it’s longer on you than model. That mid-calf length was frumpsville in the 80’s but a lot of you won’t remember the 80’s.

It’s how you style it, everyone will know your the bride anyway because you’ll be the happiest person there.

Och, that's true re. happiest person there 😁 I'm still pretty sold on the first dress, just worried it isn't special enough....but that worry does seem silly I guess!

How do YOU feel in it? Do YOU feel special?

Everythingsokreally · 05/12/2021 23:28

I got married in a black cocktail dress, there was no question who was getting married in that room full of 120 people! Add some flowers, maybe a bridesmaid or two near you, and stand next to the groom - of course you will look like the bride! And the vast majority of people at a wedding know who the bride is Smile. It looks great on you, if you like it, do it!

CassandrasCastle · 06/12/2021 12:41

It made me feel quite Pre Raphaelite! With the big sleeves...
Am going to try renting the Vampires Wife dress if possible. Maybe I'll return to this thread and post a photo!

Oh please do - didn’t know you could rent dresses - how do you do that?

Fritilleries · 06/12/2021 13:20

@CassandrasCastle

It does make me want to twirl. There's also this Vampire's Wife one
This one is the business! Wine
Fritilleries · 06/12/2021 13:23

@CassandrasCastle

Annoying that green isn't seen as very summery
Make it summery with big, pale flowers and flashes of yellow. The first dress works if you have killer heels and a gorgeous tumbling, pre raphaelite mane half up and down.
Fritilleries · 06/12/2021 13:26

This sort of hairstyle. Very boho. I'm seeing lots of pale pink roses and deep blues.

I wore a non-bridal needle and thread dress - blush with jewel-tone sequins and beads all over which made it more special and less something a guest might wear. They have a stunning beaded red dress right now if you like colour.

CassandrasCastle · 06/12/2021 20:59

OK maybe I should just order and try for the first time, then rent when I need it! Duh, that makes more sense. I'm imagining a daisy heavy wildflower bouquet...
