I have no advice, just saying, I’m just under 5ft, and haven’t bought trousers in years. It’s even harder now I have a big tummy. But some great tips on this thread—thank you!

Trylessonslearned · 15/11/2021 07:56

Lands End will shorten trousers to any length. I've been ordering from them for 8 months. They are brilliant quality too. Look out for their 50% discount code when sign up up to newsletter

userwhatever01 · 18/11/2021 14:45

Ooo more good points here. Will check those A&F, and landsend and Bon Marche.

Thanks and keep sharing if you find something good.

Maybe I will keep the Levi’s. Will try them again.

I just bought some beautiful velvet trousers in Massimo Duti - perfect length for my 5'1" frame. They must be 3/4 or 7/8 length but the fit is great.

Oblomov21 · 18/11/2021 20:56

Taking notes. I so need some new jeans and new black work trousers.
Mine gape at the back and show my builders bum, which is so embarrassing.

I am very short, small waist, huge rotund thighs, big curvy bottom and so because of the small waist nothing fits.

Oblomov21 · 18/11/2021 21:01

I also hate with a passion jeggings or leggings. I don't want skinny. I hate leggings. I have terrible legs and I want a flattering fitted slim but not clingy trouser. I want normal thick jeans. I want a pair of classic black work trousers.

I seem incapable of finding such.

Oblomov21 · 18/11/2021 21:04

"Aren't you able to turn them up and sew the necessary amount if you like a pair of trousers. There's nothing wrong with doing that."

No. You can't. Most trousers are made and styled and cut and sewn in a particular way. Even if you get a professional seamstress to adjust a trouser, shorten the bottom edge, it's NEVER EVER the same as buying a petite trouser, that has been designed purposefully, which is the right length for you.

CurbsideProphet · 18/11/2021 21:41

Great thread thank you. I'm 5ft and it is so difficult to find clothes with the right proportions. People say "just hem them yourself" but everything is needs to be in proportion, it isn't just about the length.

The only trousers I wear Matalan petite jeggings that I roll up, or work out leggings from a petite gymwear company called Avo. I WFH so no need for smart clothes. This thread is inspiring me to have a look online.

userwhatever01 · 20/11/2021 20:06

Update - after listening to the advice of a previous poster - I kept the the too tight cropped Levi’s (26/26) and washed them and they fit perfectly! It is a miracle!

Have got big bum and big boobs.

YY to why we don’t want to take trousers up we just want them to fit. I can walking to fucking London but do you know what, it’s easier to take the train.

I have these from fatface and can just about get away with not shortening them. I’m 5’ . They’ve sold out of 10 and 12 by look of it. I have them in 12 and they’re perfect on me. Quite high waisted and no gaping at the back.

If you are 5 foot tall PLEASE come and tell me where you buy TROUSERS
Dellabob123 · 20/11/2021 21:21

I have just bought cropped cord trousers in black from oasis- they are perfect length, wide leg, comfy and smart or casual depending on other clothing and foot wear choices. I’m very happy with them at 5ft and they are on 50% sale too.

userwhatever01 · 26/11/2021 14:52

Update - order the boden Estella jersey jumpsuit and the length is OK.

The sleeves are a bit puffed but will keep for work.

I don't wear trousers as such but pretty much live in jeans. The Uniqlo cropped jeggings are perfect on me for full length.

SpeckyWithTheGoodHair · 26/11/2021 16:55

Marks and Sparks

glammymommy · 28/11/2021 19:37

I wear uniglo cropped trousers. They fit my little legs perfectly

Barney60 · 28/11/2021 19:40

Kaleidescope do extra petite jeans/trousers.

ThistleTits · 28/11/2021 19:42

Bon Marche do a 25inch length

lotusbell · 28/11/2021 20:58

I found my people! I'm.4ft 11 and gave always struggled. Most Petite ranges are still too long. My inside leg is 26/27. I have the added problem of having a semi-manual job so wear cargo/work wear hard wearing trousers and they are so hard to find in not only Women's but short length. I have found Marks and Spencer is getting better with the Extra Short options but a lot seem to be frequently out of stock online. Have never understood why a Short length was always classed as 29", while on the other end of the scale you'd get 31", 34" and sometimes 36" but never shorter than 29".
Yes it's always an.option to get hems taken up but it can be inconvenient and expensive. I've had FatFace cropped jeans before and they're a good length on me.
Some great ideas and options on this post, thank you!

JaceLancs · 28/11/2021 23:44

M n S xtra short - mainly online only - I buy them for DD and DM
I struggle because despite only being 5’4” I have very short torso n long legs so usually buy M n S long

Whatwouldnanado · 29/11/2021 20:51

M&S Mia in short are just the job for me, 5'1 and a bit, size 10.
Where can I get decent knee hugh boots please? Most either cover or dig in at the back of my knees.

MargosKaftan · 29/11/2021 21:21

I'm 5'1.5" (that half inch is important!!!). Trousers that fit length wise - Boden petite, New Look petite (but size up on dress size), H&M ankle grazers are full length on me. Found M&S annoyingly too long on the petite. Oasis do some short legs that also work but not a full range.

It is a gap in the market for good quality petite.

Mollymalone123 · 29/11/2021 21:24

I’m 5ft 1 and DD 4ft 11 and Next petite or M and S fit us. If I need smarter stuff then Principles Petite

Campfirewood · 29/11/2021 21:26

Kids section in H and M, M and S petite, George petite, next petite.

Mollymalone123 · 29/11/2021 21:27

Also in the past I found Sainsbury’s did great casual trousers/jeans which were perfect for me but they hardly ever seem to sell the shirt version of things!! They were ideal for me and so cheap
