High waist & dreaded 'gunt'

rainydogday · 02/11/2021 15:26

Sorry to be crude but how do women with a slight tummy avoid enhancing it with high waisted jeans or trousers?! I have a lovely shirt that looks much dressier tucked in jeans but the nice ones all seem to be high waisted. I am not massively overweight (a tall quite slim size 12) but being the wrong size of 40 and two kids doesn't do anything for your lower belly! It feels like pregnancy again with either over bump or under bump style trousers! I have only tried more fitted style high waisted jeans with loose tops. maybe I need to go the full hog and get the thick denim type so it doesn't cling? I just feel massive! Any advise on nice jeans for tucking shirt in for nice meal/casual with friends type thing.

@Helloise

I see a lot of younger plus-size women just going for it- high waisted bottoms, tucked in tops, even crop tops. It's just a body shape, you may think you're "hiding" it with loose, oversized clothes, but you're really not. Someone who confidently accepts their body shape and wears cute clothes and styles will always be more visually attractive to me* than someone who is clearly trying to "disguise" something. No, that doesn't mean that only tight or fitted clothes or tucked in clothes can be cute and stylish - I personally, for example, probably wouldn't go for the look you're describing tend as I tend to go for loose, sculptural, kind of arty Japanese-influenced styles (think COS) but it's not because I'm trying to hide my body - I'm just trying to look cool and interesting and be comfortable. Some of my favourite clothes probably (definitely) make me look "bigger" than I am and wouldn't be considered flattering by some people and I don't care a jot, I am allowed to take up as much space as I like and look how I like and so are you.

*I could give a rat's ass about the male gaze but I am a gay woman and I am speaking about what is attractive to me.

I think @Helloise deserves a standing ovation for this post!
YouDoIDo · 02/11/2021 23:09

Watching this post as I also need jeans that don’t let the minge bucket show too much. I think after my children there is no hope for me anymore 😫

Eliza34 · 02/11/2021 23:12

@Frauhubert

It took a good few minutes for the offended and disgusted to find this thread! The moaning and complaining makes my gunt turn
Thank you for giving me a laugh before bed! I'm so glad someone else has thought this about high waisted jeans. Anyone else also feel like they make your ass about a mile long and flat as a pancake?
lechatnoir · 02/11/2021 23:16

I usually wear high waisted trousers and nipped in waists and it's definitely not a look that works with a pot belly imo. And I say that as someone who has gained half a stone and having to rethink my wardrobe until I stop eating so bloody much Blush

heiferr · 02/11/2021 23:22

@Shuffleuplove

A question for many of the posters on this thread:

Do you iron your knickers?

Marvellous 😂
ScreamingBeans · 02/11/2021 23:24

@ClaudiusTheGod

Gunt is when your stomach and your vagina optically become like one

It’s depressing how many women think that their vulva is actually called their vagina.

Makes you wonder where people think their vaginas are.

The word vulva really needs to be popularised.

Then I suppose it would be called a gulva.

Bobsyer · 02/11/2021 23:25

@Allgreyeverything

Erm, we are talking about our own gunts.
oh my god this is the funniest thing I have read all day. Maybe I'm just tired but I'm seriously crying at this comment.

@rainydogday - I'm a size 20 and only wear high waisted trousers, I have a gunt when naked getting dressed is not going to hide it!

If you like something then wear it. The slight rounding of a size 12 tummy is definitely not something to hide!

mummabear20202022 · 02/11/2021 23:28

I've used gunt for years. Really didn't realise people didn't know of it, however I am Scottish so swearing is much less frowned upon and slang is widely accepted Grin also can't believe how precious people are being haha!

Op, wear that gunt with pride Gin

IamEarthymama · 02/11/2021 23:33

H*eloise

  • Wonderful wise words! I embraced this credo when I met my beautiful wife who really gives no tosses for fashion at all!

I adored the dressing up of the 80s then lost my personal way of dressing.

A change of lifestyle and meeting people who also wore what they loved has made me so much happier.

I do understand why people follow fashion but don't understand why they make themselves unhappy by doing so.

I am sure OP will find the perfect sort of jeans, they are out there somewhere!

Runkle · 02/11/2021 23:34

Not the vulva brigade as well!! Dear me.
Can we stick to thread? The OP can describe herself however she wishes to.

OhYeahyeahyeah · 02/11/2021 23:35

I love high waisted trousers! I get more compliments in high waisted trousers than I do in any other piece of clothing. I'm a curvy size 12 with a double C-section tummy pouch and abnormally long legs - do I have a gunt? Probably but I've never worried that much to notice! Smile

paisley256 · 02/11/2021 23:36

Then I suppose it would be called a gulva.

AmberLynn1536 · 02/11/2021 23:37

Anyone else also feel like they make your ass about a mile long and flat as a pancake?

God yes the rear view is awful no matter what size you are, acres of arse the size of a small country.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 02/11/2021 23:38

Looser leg jeans - balloon cut or wide-legged in proper stiff 100% denim works best on me. Skinnies cling lovingly to every rounded curve and offer it up for hi-def viewing.

CatonMat · 02/11/2021 23:54
Grin I need trousers so high waisted that only my eyes are visible.

It wearing what makes people happy, then it's ok to wear gunt friendly clothes.

I don't want to embrace my gunt, thanks.

middleager · 02/11/2021 23:56

@CinnamonJellyBeans

What a vile way to describe yourself and other women.
This.
Naady · 03/11/2021 00:03

Try Levi’s ribcage jeans OP.
They give a lovely shape by cinching in the waist. Proper denim as well.

jjj321 · 03/11/2021 00:25

I can't get with high waisted jeans. For me, they make most people look clunky and unflattering around the waist, even if they have washboard stomachs.

After an epic search, I've found four pairs of low waisted jeans at Tommy Hilfiger, 7 for all Mankind and Pepe (all in the sale). My muffin top is happily hidden by my tops so I'm happy.

And I didn't think gunt was meant to be rude either.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 03/11/2021 00:33

The difference between the jeans upthread is elastane content. Those with more elastane or with polyester will be more relaxed denim. The mango ones are 99% cotton which in fact is very rare to find these days. I might buy them. They will be tighter straight after washing them but the denim will give a little. I think 1% or 2% elastane is the gold standard. Other alternatives is go for black or darkest rinse denim- more flattering.

flyingstar · 03/11/2021 00:43

Can we share some other links to these jeans. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

bigbeautwoman · 03/11/2021 02:41

control pants are a must for me

Marygoround22 · 03/11/2021 03:01

@Potatolatkes

Yes I think you have to be pretty slim to carry the tucked in, high waisted look.

We call it a gump here out of interest!

A gump-how does that work? I understand a gunt is a gut/cunt amalgamation....
Myshitisreal · 03/11/2021 03:10

Not really... It isn't Gujina. Vulva/vagina doesn't affect the gunt. Gunt remains.

As you were.

Aphrodite31 · 03/11/2021 03:16

@FrancescaContini

Nice ShockConfused

There’s a thread on here in which some posters are agreeing that it’s really unkind to make “small dick” jokes because it’s nasty to make comments about people’s bodies, and yet here we have this word “gunt” which sounds really crude, IMO.

Yes it's a grim term and I too am not quite sure why it's 'ok' to use.

This whole thread feels a it wrong somehow. 🤔

NiceGerbil · 03/11/2021 03:16

Gunt?

Not heard that before!

I'll add it to cankles, camel toe, muffin top, double tit etc etc in my vocab.

Going to look at pics now as still not sure what is!
