Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 4 - One month to go! (Spoilers)

Hope nobody minds me starting the next thread but we'd hit 1000 posts!

F&M has arrived and something in it smells fantastic. I also got the note about the replacement product but I'm fairly sure that's the product that I'd seen advertised so it doesn't make any difference to me.

M&S is great value, as long as you'll use the stuff. I can always use an eyeliner so for me the two eyeliners more or less justified the £40 spend. Or that's how I justified it to myself anyway...

I’m all done on the beauty advents - John Lewis and a last minute, FOMO M&S - (but still waiting for my Wine advent) so I shall sit back and enjoy everyone else's decisions now Grin

itsallgoingpearshaped · 30/10/2021 16:57

My M&S calendar has been shipped, apparently.

SocksAndTheCity · 30/10/2021 17:00

Hello new thread! F&M has two room sprays and I think a candle (IIRC) but also the 1707 Lilas perfume so no surprise it smells nice. Mine isn't booked to arrive for a couple more weeks and I'm kicking myself a bit I didn't ask for sooner.

supadupapupascupa · 30/10/2021 17:11

Ooh what's the F&M replacement? I don't know about this...., mine arrives Monday fingers crossed!

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 30/10/2021 17:25

Right, I have two calendars in my possession, Next and M&S. November for me will be spent on the lookout for any discounts or bargains that might tempt me to get a third. Lots still seem to be in stock compared to this time last year.

MidnightMeltdown · 30/10/2021 17:35

Just checking in. I definitely have enough advent calendars for this year (and will be on a beauty no spend for at least the next 6 months!), but still curious to see what others are buying 😁

Got an email to say one of my M&S calendars plus the stuff I ordered is on the way. Oddly, it's the one I ordered second.that has been shipped. No sign of the other one yet.

Snapespeare · 30/10/2021 17:45

I've resisted but lurked on previous threads, but ready to leap from the closet now.
M&S for 26 year old DD - pale, excellent skin, loves eyeliner.
Rituals for 22 year old DS a big hit last year.
Liberty AND CB for me. Liberty last year was my 1st one. I've joined beauty drop so next year's will be 'free' but I loved getting up on a dark morning and getting a treat.

CB I'm not too sure about, but will put the bits I don't like/want/need on ebay. I did that last year with Liberty with 4 items and made £100, so felt chuffed with the nice (cheaper than I thought!) luxuries.

Fave bits in last years Liberty were the perfumes, Bath oils and skincare. I'm not a big make up person, but like to have some for emergencies (!)

halloweenmoon2 · 30/10/2021 17:48

I have M&S (delivered today) and Soace NK ready for December. I think that's it for me, unless there's a great bargain too good to resist.

xmasturkey · 30/10/2021 18:08

I have H&B one and was thinking to get LF or M&S. LF had sold out now. I think I go to M&S to see if there is something £30 worth to buy and get the calendar if they still have them.

AprilLady · 30/10/2021 18:10

I’m also done now; the M&S tin is far bigger than the initial pictures suggested, quite excited with it.

Has anyone else watched Cosmetopia’s ranking video? I agree her top pick (Harrods), but not all her others. I think age, interests and skin concerns do make quite a difference to what appeals.

Interested in others views, but my top picks would be:

Harrods, NAP, CB, Space NK, M&S (easiest the best value!)

Other good value options: JL, Next

Most disappointing: Liberty, Glossybox and LF, especially when you compare to previous years’.

Diadora30 · 30/10/2021 18:37

I have the Liberty, NAP and Amazon calendars. Hoping to catch the November drop of cult beauty!

OverByYer · 30/10/2021 18:39

I’ve just had the Holland and Barrett clean beauty bone just delivered

Stokey · 30/10/2021 18:54

Place marking, still debating whether to get M&S for DM or maybe something like L'Occitaine that I can get delivered to her. She doesn't go in too much for pampering so not sure how much she'd use of any of them.

Mcmcmcmc · 30/10/2021 18:57

I got my Aldi Lacura AC delivered today. The box is gorgeous! Some of the products come in tiny sizes though… like a 15 ml cleanser, 30 ml micellar water and 5 ml (!!) hand cream 😑
I was thinking of returning it as the small sizes are disappointing for the price of the calendar (£55) but I did the maths and the 15 products I liked and which come in relatively decent sizes work out at £3.50 each, so I will keep it and list what I won’t use (make up setting spray, primer and other bits and bobs) on eBay.

Mcmcmcmc · 30/10/2021 18:57

I also have the Space NK AC which I will try to leave unopened until December!

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 30/10/2021 19:02

Is anyone opening a calendar in November this year?

toffeeshock · 30/10/2021 19:23

No but I’m tempted to take EL ANR out of JL as I’m almost out of it.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 30/10/2021 19:47

I was in M&S today and they had a calendar open on display. Lots of smallish sizes but given the price, very good value. Nothing too teensy.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 30/10/2021 20:03

@OchonAgusOchonOh I've managed not to buy one so far (except the Invisibobble obvs) but im going shopping this week and think I'll be very tempted to buy the M&S if I go in store...

MidnightMeltdown · 30/10/2021 20:04

@AprilLady

I generally agree with your best and worst calendars, but I'd order them differently. I think my top 10 list would be:

  1. F&M (my favourite year so far. Luxurious and love the product variety)
  2. Cult Beauty (so many products, good sizes, amazing value)
  3. NAP (great sizes and value)
  4. JL (mainly because it's a lower price point than space nk so better value)
  5. Space NK
  6. M&S (excellent at this price point)
  7. Harrods (love the box, but products don't appeal to me much. Have had many in other calendars before).
  8. Next
  9. Selfridges
Talisin · 30/10/2021 20:18

Go on. You know you want it.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 30/10/2021 20:24

Just logged in to M&S. The email was a bit misleading. It's only the other bits that have been dispatched. The calendar is still waiting on dispatch.
