@SummaLuvin I didn’t get blazer from Harrods, was from Net à Porter sale I think last year, that was just the only web page where I could find it. Think it was half price so still expensive but will get lots of wear and I tend to keep things for years.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I like the sound of either black cardigan or black polo neck with jeans. Love skinny polo necks under dresses in colder weather too.

Im cleanign out my wardrobe coem spring and gettign rid of anything nto worn in the last year. i did this the year previously and it keeps it to managable levels!! i dont think there should be as much to go this time as last time, i have been wearting a lot more out of my wardrobe this past year than i did previous years!

I did the switch from summer to winter - not as big a job as it used to be as I only have things I love now thanks to the years on this thread.
I’ve been invited to a proper Christmas do - posh hotel, sit down meal and dancing so I need to think what to wear.

@shopafrolic - keep an eye out as Joseph do have decent sales. That is the kind of knit that I would consider a wardrobe classic, and worthy of investment. They don’t have great sales returns policy (or didn’t used to - I recall it was credit note only). Maybe try on and then stalk it in the sales

@AnnieSnap - love the black dress on you. I love all black with a strong red or pink lip colour.

Question: It’s coming up to summer in the southern hemisphere so I’m putting my winter clothes away and bringing out the sandals/linen/sundresses etc. I’ve seen my perfect lace up leather boots last size on sale.

Are the black combat/lace up boots truly trending for your autumn/ winter? Is it worth me buying them and putting away?

I did have some Topshop ones but I haven’t worn them this winter as we have been in lockdown and I already have khaki and brown suede/shearling lined Montelliana walking boots I love for dog walks etc. The Topshop ones were just a bit too stiff and clompy for me.

'perfect boots' they are almost impossible to find, I vote buy them if you like them! Then again, I'm not really the last word on fashion!

@AppleFairy buy them. Combat boots are everywhere again this AW - if anything they are hitting calf length and even knee high. Chelsea boots with thicker soles also having a moment. I don’t think it will disappear for a year or two yet.

Just noticed Jigsaw are doing 20% off with Grazia if anyone saw anything they fancied.

@AnnieSnap you look fabulous in that dress and love the teddy coat.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses did you find something to wear for dinner? I love the Jigsaw silk shirt @shopafrolic bought and thought that would be a good piece to wear for dinner with trousers (skinnies or straight) and heels.

Am liking the Zara links -walked past Zara the other day but didn’t go in as it’s always like a jumble sale and mahoosive queues for changing rooms and cash desk. Wish I had now.

This Uniqlo dress is my current favourite outfit with the clumpy MV boots from last winter. Also have it in black.

I’m (half heartedly) after a new coat so was looking at the earlier links with interest. I tried this houndstooth coat in Cos - looked like I was playing dress up in my dads coat!

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ve hesitated as are still very pricey, even with the sale discount.

I have some Prada dark oxblood coloured Chelsea boots from four years ago (similar to photo) that get a lot of wear and still feel very current.

@Pheebs2021 you are right, when something is ‘perfect’ it usually adds something to all your looks and you never regret it years later.

I can’t see your Zara links as it goes to our local sites! I’ve ordered this jacket from Zara, just to try out the green trend (I love oversized blazers on others, but cropped jackets are much more flattering for my short legs!).

Also this blue/brown one which is more ‘me’ - hope it will look good with jeans.

I've just ordered a really brightly coloured cardigan for winter not wore this colour before but it looks very comfortable.

Love lots and lots of the links - the black wrap around cardigan (love them, they never love me back), that M&S coatigan (lush) and the last blue/brown tweed caught my eye.

Hello, I hope no-one minds me popping in. I’ve a meal out next Friday and feel quite stuck on what to wear since I spent last A/W in jeans and chunky knits, working in my chilly kitchen. Help!

I’ve ordered this wrap cardi thing which I could wear with black jeans, or with a leather mini-ish skirt. It’s a steak place and fairly casual, and I live somewhere cold. Other option is a fine-knit slightly sparkly black polo neck from Whistles? I have lots of nice midi dresses but they all seem a bit summery now. I’d wear jewellery, red lipstick, and one of my numerous faux fur coats.

I’m 5ft 6 and a size 10, if that helps. I didn’t want to start a new thread because some of them seem to get quite catty at the mo, so apologies for crashing in!

I love this. I would wear it with blue jeans, or a pencil skirt (leather or wool) to offset the black. I think I would only wear it with black on the bottom if it was something like black leather leggings.

Thanks for all the outfit advice - I absolutely love the jeans/heels/silk shirt/leather leggings look on other people (and that Jigsaw one is truly beautiful!) but it Is just not me. I am more a Cos/Arket/stompy boots type of person. I teach media/marketing and kind of dress like I do. Anyway, the cardi is yet to ship which is annoying, but I have Levi’s high-loose-taper jeans which might work with it in both a mid blue, and a very pale blue? (The pale blue are in this week’s Grazia actually.) I got a nice gold layered chain necklace in Oliver Bonas today, and have a new big faux shearling coat from &OS which is nowhere near as nice as anniesnap’S blue one! And stompy black boots, obviously.

Got to love a Teddy bear coat and stompy black boots @Judystilldreamsofhorses I looked at teddy coats in lots of places and when I saw the blue one, I knew instantly that it had to be mine.
