Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

Ah that’s interesting re Liberty @Luvacuppatea I got the GWP in Feb. I’m definitely going to hold off now 🙂. Makes perfect sense.

Stokey · 09/10/2021 19:20

So interesting that Harrods & CB are dropping the same day. Maybe you can keep Harrods as a banker if you don't get CB?

Though for me, Harrods doesn't have that many full size products for the price. Think I've had the Barbra Strum in a GWP and wasn't that bothered by it (considering its crazy price). I've got loads of masks to use up so really don't need any more, and still have the Byredo cream from Liberty's maybe 2 years ago so don't use that much! I also have an Elemis cleanser that I'm working through.

Stokey · 09/10/2021 19:23

@BunnytheFriendlyDragon on the Fleurdeforce video that @Giftwithpurchase recommended, she put Next as number 3 after Space NK and CB. She said they were really good products and good value for money. She didn't mention M&S though.

HeyYouGuuuuuuys · 09/10/2021 20:00

Can I ask for a recommendation? I initially thought cult beauty as I really want to try the glow tonic. However when I thought about getting an advent calendar it was because I wanted to try makeup but my DH has bought me some Charlotte tilbury sets and I can't get over how good it is.

My issue I think is my skin though. It's dry but also I have acne so maybe a creams one would be good? I didn't realise it was so bad until I used a 10 x magnifying mirror to sort my eye makeup out and oh my it's so dry!

Orla1970 · 09/10/2021 20:02

ASOS is back in stock. I’ve just bought one x

Aaah Orla sorry thought you meant the beauty box Grin

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 09/10/2021 20:35

Thanks @Stokey

I was thinking of this box as a gift

Fleur's video made me want the Cult Beauty one!

applecatchers36 · 09/10/2021 20:39

Thanks to all you enablers have now gone for H& B and ASOS am interested in Harrods and Liberty & F&M but will wait it out & see if they get reduced 🙏

CountryCob · 09/10/2021 21:29

McMillan is on offer at Boots, not my favourite but it could be for someone, there is also a cute Harry Potter one…

EasterIssland · 09/10/2021 22:28

I’ve dropped off the idea of getting one at the end. Think I’ll get whatever I want full price. Might end up paying the same but 50% of the products I wasn’t keen on anyway

Peridot1 · 09/10/2021 22:36

@HeyYouGuuuuuuys - don’t want to send you down a complete rabbit hole but if you are struggling to find a skin care regime to deal with dry skin have a look at Caroline Hirons website. Her cheat sheets are good.

I needed a laugh this morning. This calendar must have the ultimate Drawers of Disappointment: beautyadventcalendar.net/chanel-no5-limited-edition-the-calendar/

Spend $825 and get … stickers Confused

Stokey · 10/10/2021 08:37

That is bonkers @AprilLady. Christmas tree decorations and stickers, you'd need to be a millionaire Chanel obsessive!

Giftwithpurchase · 10/10/2021 08:52

Haha @AprilLady ..so many stickers! And not forgetting the two bookmarks 😆

Luvacuppatea · 10/10/2021 09:01

Have to agree @AprilLady, in my opinion that ultra-spendy Chanel calendar wins the prize (so far) for having the most drawers of disappointment 😂

LookdeepintotheParka · 10/10/2021 09:08

The Chanel one Hmm could buy a lot of the perfume for that price which seems far more of a treat than a couple of stickers!!

I've been ruminating far too long on DDs calendar as I keep thinking the Boots ones will get added to the 3 for 2 offers. I'm hoping they don't all sell out!

Revolution calendars are now half price in Superdrug if anyone else is buying for a teen Smile

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 10/10/2021 10:01

Has anyone ever purchased the L'Occintane one? I have wanted a beauty calendar for years, but have never splurged to buy one because they're usually so expensive (Liberty, Fortnum, etc), or there are so many products I would never use. I have very cool pale skin and most of the makeup ones like MAC or Charlotte Tilbury are suited for darker warmer complexions.

I've looked at sooo many this year and finally decided on the Luxury one from L'Occitane. It hasn't even arrived yet, but I'm all anxious about it and have buyers remorse. £99 for a load of little travel size products is just making me a bit uneasy.

beautyadventcalendar.net/loccitane-advent-calendars-2021/

What are peoples opinions on this calendar? If you've had one in previous years do you think it's worth it? Did you enjoy it?

I have no problem spending £99 on a dress or a jumper, and usually don't think twice about it. But the fact that I'm getting a bunch of little travel sized things is just making me wonder if I've completely wasted my money.

If it helps soften the blow, I also found a voucher code for a free travel pouch and 5-6 more mini items worth about £35 that I got for free with my purchase.

toffeeshock · 10/10/2021 10:25

Wow at the Chanel calendar. What a load of rubbish in there, that would be a major disappointment.

I’m still waiting for Soap&Glory to come out to get as a gift. I’m hoping it goes on some kind of offer as I want a couple.

I haven’t had L’Occitane but it seems expensive to me with all travel size products. I’ve had sets of their travel sizes from hotels.

I had this last year and loved it so much I've got it again this year. I usually order it when I can get a good lump of cash back (Quidco or TopCashback) or lots of free gift sets, free delivery offer etc . So it doesn't feel so pricey. It's got lots of hand creams, but I love them. The shower gels, shampoos etc have lasted me the whole year of weekends away. Not that I've been away much! There's a few face creams which have been lovely and I've gone on to buy the full size product.

Ahahaha. ‘The Puffy Sticker’. Can only visualise the Care Bear Cloud or a Unicorn.

Also the drawers are numbered 5-31? WTF?

guineapigs · 10/10/2021 11:44

I have thought about L'occitane calendar for some years but they contain too many hand creams that I won't use.

Peridot1 · 10/10/2021 11:55

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 10/10/2021 11:57

I have no idea who the target market for the Chanel one would be -over £600 and it includes stickers?! Xmas Shock- but it also wins the prize for the least festive looking advent calendar ever.
