Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 3 - Decisions Decisions! (Spoilers included)

Hope it’s ok to have started the thread as we seemed to run out of the last one a bit quickly! And I was really enjoying the thread and reading everyone’s thoughts.

I started reading the first one determined not to buy one this year.

Currently I have the Rituals one and have just ordered the Origins 12 Day one for the 12 days of Christmas!

Let the chat and decisions continue!

Regarding sorting and sorting like others I have my stash sorted into bags of cleansers, toners etc. Now that travel is back on the cards I will use them up that way.

The Liberty beauty bank looks v tempting although it's somewhere I've not shopped before super expensive but I'm thinking of joining when I get the bloody invite!.

Question to those in the know ... are there certain times of year they always do a GWP? It would be great to get as much bang for my buck as possible need to justify buying more stuff I probably won't buy and instead just hoard like a bloody magpie.

There’s normally one in Feb and October. Not sure when else.

There's been a Liberty GWP in the first week of September for about 7-8 years now. There's a £175 minimum spend. For the last couple of years there's been a Spring one too. Last year's Spring one had a tote bag too and I think there might have been a second tote bag GWP at some point.

Housewife is correct - September not October. The Feb one had the bag this year. I think there might have been one May ish time too.

Yes. The tote bags were this year not last year.

The Liberty GWPs that included the tote bags were Feb 2021 and Dec 2020.

The pattern recently has been:

Apr 2020 GWP
Sep 2020 GWP
Dec 2020 GWP incl tote bag
Feb 2021 GWP incl tote bag
May 2021 GWP
Aug 2021 GWP

I think the normal Liberty schedule is twice yearly, around Apr/May then around Aug/Sept. I’m guessing the Dec 2020 and Feb 2021 tote GWPs were actually Covid related and more likely to be a one off: with shops closed they needed to raise some cash, and this was an excellent way to do it.

Has any one noticed that for the first time in years there has been no Harvey Nichols autumn GWP?

I did, I used to like their GWPs.

Their March GWP was less than half what previous years too

The last Liberty GWP was also not usual standard sadly. I hope Liberty do another set before Christmas, wasn’t tempted by the last two. They have had Christmas crackers past few years around £15- great secret Santa or sticking filler gift.

Apologies as I haven't RTFT, but I just saw an MSE beauty advent calendar roundup, and they had one that I haven't seen before called Latest In Beauty. It looks pretty good to me for £70 and you get £10 off with code ADVENT10. I'm going to give it a whirl.

I had a Space NK one last year which was great, but it looks too similar this year, and I still have quite a few products to use.

Teen dd has gone veggie and very Eco so might get her the Holland and Barrett one, although I am also tempted by the M&S one at the end of the month!

The AA Forest oil is my favourite! I just dump it straight into the bath. That reminds me, might add it to my Christmas list for DH

Not yet Football, I'm worried I've signed up in a moment of FOMO as so far I have got x 1 calendar (Decleor) which I did get for an excellent price plus x 2 free gift bags (same brand) but I'm yearning for something mixed brand too. Gutted as somehow , despite sitting on my tablet for 2 bloody hours Friday night, refreshing constantly looking for the ASOS box but apparently with wrong search words, I managed to miss it. I'm still very cheesed off .

So I'm now looking for a consolation bargain and decided this could be worth doing. I suspect by the time I do get an invite - if I do - I may have seen sense that whilst the x 3 beauty boxes you get each year sound lovely, actually when it comes to spending my balance everything is straight away more than I'd normally spend.

So yes, I'm looking for my consolation box! Who knows, maybe Black Friday am yield some nice things.

I blame this enabling lot Plus the fact I'm a sucker for pretty products beautifully wrapped. Even though I hoard most of them, occasionally getting them all out to look at. What a a saddo.

The Boots No 7 release is Friday 15th apparently.

I've given in and ordered the Space NK, and I'll get M&S too. Then that's it for me, I was thinking about getting No 7 but it may be a bit much to have three

@OchonAgusOchonOh, I wonder if CB will release the boxes just after the advent calendar in the hope that they will sell to those who don’t manage to get a calendar?
