I’m hoping I’ve been here long enough to be allowed to start the new thread. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s outfits as we move into my favourite fashion season.

That’s a fabulous dress @AnnieSnap - and I love the way you’ve styled it. I’ve never managed to make a leather jacket look good - I’m a bit jealous of people who do!

Snap @Sooverthemill! (At least in terms of weather and dungarees). Your day out sounded lovely. How wonderful that your DS has found a way to support himself doing something he enjoys.

Jumper: Karen Millen (at least 10 years old)
Dungarees: Boden (last year - from the kids section)
Boots: Doc Martens

@OublietteBravo Thank you 🙂 Right back at you re the dungarees. Those really suit you. I just look like a Navvy working on the roads in them 😮

AnnieSnap · 17/10/2021 13:09

That’s a great outfit @EllaPaella You look very pulled together.

@Sooverthemill my Baukjen leather is quite generously sized. Twins in another way too, as I can see you also enjoy a modern look 🙂

Sickoffamilydrama · 17/10/2021 16:05

Is this one of those ironic threads- a sort of 'feck it that will do' approach/ anti-fashion statement?

Totally digging the spirit if so :)

No it's an outfit of the day thread. Are you in the wrong place?

If you've come to share what you are wearing on a day to day basis then you are welcome. We are normal women who like fashion and putting different outfits together.

If however you have come to sneer at us and tell us that us mere mortals that we are doing fashion all wrong then we'd rather you spent your energy elsewhere!

No, we all feel that we are looking very good 😳
AnnieSnap · 17/10/2021 19:19

@Sickoffamilydrama I love that look on you. Different shades of the same colour together always look chic 🙂

Great trousers @20FlowerPower I struggled when I went in the my local large Zara (Metrocentre, Gateshead). It just looked chaotic. I stood there for a few moments, then turned around and left and have never been back. After that, I tried online, but hated their website 😮

I went into my local Zara yesterday, almost cried as I couldn’t fit into the jeans I wanted (tried on 7 pairs), it was so badly laid out that I saw some stuff I liked but left. I was in a Zara up town (Canary Wharf) recently which was much better. Doesn’t help I was surrounded by young girls of size 6 and under which doesn’t do my body confidence any good! Grin

EllaPaella · 17/10/2021 19:51

@Gonnagetgoing Zara is a nightmare of a place.. and don't get me started on the sizing 🤦‍♀️ I have a couple of dresses that I ordered online that are okay but have never had any success in the actual shop.

OublietteBravo · 17/10/2021 19:56

I struggle with Zara too. I think the only clothing I’ve ever bought there has come from the teenage boy section (a belt and a pair of shorts).

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/10/2021 20:17

Love that outfit @Sickoffamilydrama, great colours. And those trousers @20FlowerPower - another one here who can never find anything in Zara normally.

IvorCutler · 17/10/2021 20:51

As a mainly lurker/sometimes poster/recent name change can I say I really love this thread? I think everyone looks fabulous and each has their own style. It cheers me to scroll through. The nastiness from pp is not nice to see.

mrstrickland · 17/10/2021 20:59

I'm also a lurker and love seeing what everyone is wearing! Please don't stop sharing, its great seeing women of different sizes dressing to please themselves and nobody else. I spend majority of my time in NHS uniform so I can only look on with envy. I did used to dress nicely when I wasn't at work, so maybe I should use this as inspiration to try and make more effort again...

KiteflyingKat · 17/10/2021 20:59

@Softpebbles I have the Valverde boots too so obviously I like them . I don’t like them worn over jeans for “town” wear but I like them for country walks if that makes sense. I live right between town & country and these are my country look - wouldn’t tend to wear them into town . I also ride horses and can ride in them

KiteflyingKat · 17/10/2021 21:04

….. so I guess what I’m saying is think about how they would fit into your lifestyle

Sooverthemill · 17/10/2021 21:05

@IvorCutler @mrstrickland thank you. This happens from time to time. We rise above it! Be lovely if you joined us, we are a friendly bunch

faustina · 17/10/2021 21:05

Another lurker here to say how much I enjoy this thread - you all look wonderful!

Sooverthemill · 17/10/2021 21:06

In the early 90s I used to shop almost exclusively in zara in Madrid ( I had a friend with a flat there and I was single). I was much smaller size then though! Their stuff was fabulous and it was exciting to go in and see what they had. Now it's not so much exciting as confusing. Such a shame

Sickoffamilydrama · 17/10/2021 21:23

I too hate Zara's website although the nearest store to me in Oxford ( the city not the street) seems quite well laid out when I've been in.

Spanish sizing had always been small on me @Sooverthemill even when I was a slim 20 year old they just didn't seem to do sizing for hips above a 12.

Thanks @AnnieSnap I like doing different tones of colours and colour in general sometimes I think that it's like a paint factory exploded in my wardrobe 😉

Thanks @IvorCutler @mrstrickland & @faustina
Whilst high fashion can be fun for most people it isn't accessable financially and often impractical for day to day. I actually find it much more interesting to see what "normal" women are wearing and enjoying than what someone thinks I should wear or look like. Life would be so boring if we all only did high fashion.

EllaPaella · 17/10/2021 21:49

It's just a sneery and rather childish comment from a poster who never makes any particularly interesting contributions to S&B threads. She only seems to recommend very average high street labels on the threads that she is on - so hardly on the cutting edge of fashion herself anyway.
I think the saying 'don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from' is very apt.
I don't think anyone here is going to be devastated that she doesn't like our thread.
