Does anyone else find Louboutins a bit tacky now?

Just that really. I have several pairs but most stay locked in a box - I feel a bit cringe wearing them these days.

A bit too in your face and 'look at me' plus too common.

Do you/would you still wear them?

So flog them on if they’re too common or tacky etc. No point then festering in a box all red soled and unused

WormYourHonour · 29/09/2021 21:59

What does 'Common' in this context mean?

I don't see many people wearing them, so I'm guessing you're not using it in that context?

FizzyPink · 29/09/2021 21:59

Definitely sell them if they’re in good condition. I’m actually quite glad they’re considered so garish nowadays. It used to kill me how much I always wanted to wear mine but they’re so bloody painful

postingfortraffichere · 29/09/2021 21:59

They're not unused - I wish or else I would sell them. They're worn. I've sold a pair on eBay already and they fetched £100 a I paid £550 so I don't fancy selling them at such a loss!

@WormYourHonour common as in everywhere - seen on too many people. Not as unique as they once were.

@FizzyPink 😂 do you not wear them anymore then?

Lottapianos · 29/09/2021 22:01

Well I'm a trainers girl to be honest but who cares about what's 'in'? If you love them, you should definitely still wear them

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/09/2021 22:02

Keeping mine. Haven’t worn them much recently for sure, but couldn’t ever bring myself to part with them!

postingfortraffichere · 29/09/2021 22:02

@Lottapianos it's not really about what's in - I just find them tacky. Perhaps the red sole maybe a bit too much. I don't know.

I have a pair, I've worn them twice and it was agony. They aren't even a very high heel, how is it possible to make shoes so painful?! Anyway I'll just keep mine in case I ever need a really smart pair of shoes. Mine are plain black so won't date.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 29/09/2021 22:04

I have a pair of flat louboutin sandles that are still lovely. But if you mean heels, then yes. But then I think all heels look stupid these days.

FizzyPink · 29/09/2021 22:05

@postingfortraffichere I don’t think I’ve worn them more than 3 times in the 10 years I’ve had them! Such a waste really. I’m a regular heels wearer and am very competent walking in them but for some reason every pair of Louboutins I’ve ever tried on are agony to walk in

Hop27 · 29/09/2021 22:07

I just got gifted my first pair. Wear them to work, just swap them out if/when I need to walk distances. I can honestly say I rarely see anyone else wearing them in my city in a day to day basis, but I'm not sure I pay that close attention!

Snoopsnoggysnog · 29/09/2021 22:09

I’m not sure if it’s just louboutins but all my heels just feel a bit wrong at the moment.

I’ve got a smart do to go to on Friday night abs I’m struggling to decide what to wear and which shoes.

BrilliantBetty · 29/09/2021 22:12

I have one pair. I don't wear them and haven't done for at least 5 years. I got them in 2012 and they are still in great condition so I think i'll just keep them until they come back around in to fashion or I fall in love with them again.

I think it's all very high heels not just Ls.

featheryfancy · 29/09/2021 22:13

Completely agree, partly because I feel that most high/stiletto heels are a bit try hard and over done now though louboutins especially so.

Similar to you, I have some beautiful shoes that I can't bring myself to sell or get rid of but I just can't really see myself wearing anymore.

GenevieveLenard · 29/09/2021 22:46

I find all heels tacky now. Seems like overcompensating for something and I can’t think of a single good reason to wear them.

Tenfifteen · 29/09/2021 23:27

Wore mine on my wedding day and v occasionally since. They’re simple beautiful. I never see people wearing them and if I did so wouldn’t care.

I mainly wear Grenson or Churches day to day. Am not a heels person.

Verite1 · 30/09/2021 00:14

I can’t wear mine anymore. Am keeping them for DD - hoping they fit her. They are both beautiful classic shoes, but with a bit of a twist.

immersivereader · 30/09/2021 00:16

But where do you wear them?

Changechangychange · 30/09/2021 00:20

Yep, way too obvious. Like wearing a lot of blingy jewelry, or an obvious it bag. Bit mid-noughties/Sex and the City.

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/09/2021 00:21

Only on mumsnet would shoes worth hundreds be seen as common 🤣 I don't know any of my friends that have a pair, or would spend that much money on shoes - other than the 'mean girls' at university.

If you like them wear them. If you don't save them for a time when heels may be fashionable again

AmberLynn1536 · 30/09/2021 00:28

Even if you don’t like them now, hang onto them, I think there is going to be a big resurgence in glamour, look at the James Bond premiere last night, heels everywhere! it was high octane glitz and glamour, Kate’s dress! I think Covid casual is on its way out and I for one can’t wait.

SmallProvincial · 30/09/2021 00:29

I think once a design has been faked as much as Louboutins have, they become a bit naff.

Think of Burberry print in the 1990's..though that has since been resurrected.

Whether 'naff' bothers you, is up to you. I wear some naff stuff, because I love it.

SuperstarDog · 30/09/2021 00:40

The alligators that are skinned alive for you to have your shoes will be pleased.
