Does anyone else find Louboutins a bit tacky now?

Just that really. I have several pairs but most stay locked in a box - I feel a bit cringe wearing them these days.

A bit too in your face and 'look at me' plus too common.

Do you/would you still wear them?

waltzingparrot · 30/09/2021 00:53

Well they always were' look at me' shoes Wink

DameMaureen · 30/09/2021 01:33

The thing is you get red stick on soles so many people are walking about in pretend ones.

NiceGerbil · 30/09/2021 01:37

Yes I had stacks of pairs and have binned them.

(Isn't this a bit... Are there any particular groups of women who wear them now?).

SmellyOldOwls · 30/09/2021 05:04

@Pieceofpurplesky

Only on mumsnet would shoes worth hundreds be seen as common 🤣 I don't know any of my friends that have a pair, or would spend that much money on shoes - other than the 'mean girls' at university.

If you like them wear them. If you don't save them for a time when heels may be fashionable again

I think it's just that they're so obviously expensive and designer it's a bit ostentatious, which isn't really in fashion at the minute.
WaltzingBetty · 30/09/2021 05:29
@WormYourHonour common as in everywhere - seen on too many people. Not as unique as they once were.
Where do you live that Loboutin's are 'everywhere'? Especially as heels aren't particularly fashionable at the moment.
Vejas are common yes. Loboutins not so much.

5BlackDoors · 30/09/2021 05:45

Oh definitely sell them!

I find that by the time I have either saved up for an expensive item or slimmed down enough that I can fit into a desired item (looking at you, bubble skirts of 30 years ago) they are then promptly out of fashion.

Cocogreen · 30/09/2021 06:24

I think they look really dated now, really from another era. Later series of Sex in the city plus another five years.
Having said that if people love wearing them them, why not keep on doing so?
Like skinny jeans.

HasaDigaEebowai · 30/09/2021 06:44

I agree, the time isn’t yet right for obvious excess. It’s a bit like jetting off for multiple holidays is becoming looked down upon and big names plastered across hoodies etc are very out.

If history is anything to go by, the glamour e we I’ll return

HasaDigaEebowai · 30/09/2021 06:45

*Glamour will return

Henrysmycat · 30/09/2021 06:59

I know how you feel. It’s not the time to flaunt such extravagances on one hand and on the other, they have been copied so much, they have become meh. Hold on to them if you have the space bevcagse they’d fetch nothing on eBay/VC. I got out some of the late 90’s shoes to wear. Square toe and geometric kitten heels. I’ve come full circle.

Staryflight445 · 30/09/2021 07:07

I think most if not all designer stuff is cringey lately.

Saw a tiktok the other day of some women taking her child to harrods for their birthday gift, pair of them absolutely covered head to toe in designer gear. She showed herself paying- literally threw money on to a desk.
So tacky.

LactoseTheIntolerant · 30/09/2021 07:16

I don't like the look of women in very high heels, there's something repressive about it imo.
Never forget going to ascot with a friend who had a pair of high ones who literally spent the day crippled hobbling around and having to buy plasters, it wasn't a good look!
I have another friend who 'lives in heels' whose calf muscles are now maladapted and she finds it hard to walk normally in flats. It just reminds me of the foot binding that Chinese women used to have to endure to look delicate and desirable for men!

squashyhat · 30/09/2021 07:23

To channel the late great Kirsty MacColl: "In these shoes? I don't think so"

TuftyRusty · 30/09/2021 07:27

Well I personally think they always looked tacky - the red sole was designed to make everyone know what brand they were and I find anything like that, including all the very branded designer stuff, very obviously showing how much you’ve spent on an item - pretty tacky.

Quickchangeartiste · 30/09/2021 08:02

Seriously OP if you think they are tacky - get rid.
Yes you will take a hit selling them, but you are taking more of a hit if they sit around doing nothing in your wardrobe. £100 recouped from £550 is still better than £0.

GivenchyDahhling · 30/09/2021 08:05

I have 9 or 10 pairs (oh, to be child-free and to have disposable income) that now don’t fit as nobody warned me your feet can get bigger in pregnancy. Gone up nearly a whole size. Looked into flogging them but there’s hardly any interest in second hand shoes, even Louboutins.

I do still wear heels, but more chunky heeled boots rather than stilettos.

MancMum2000 · 30/09/2021 08:16

Yes to me they are dated and a bit tacky.

Completely agree. I still love some designer bags because of the quality and d signs but I don't buy ones with logos anymore for this reason. I'm done with the likes of Chanel and LV logo bags.

Yes - I’d put them in the category with Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Michael Kors.

Itsnotdeep · 30/09/2021 09:38

Weren't they always a bit footballers wife? especially the platformy type ones?

I think if you love them, keep them, but like others on the thread, I wonder whether high heels generally have had their day. Even at the most expensive restaurants people aren't wearing heels anymore.

LaBellina · 30/09/2021 09:40

Sorry but I find them very tacky.

LaBellina · 30/09/2021 09:40

Burberry is tacky Sad?

I have just gotten a vintage Burberry trench coat…

TuftyMarmoset · 30/09/2021 09:45

It’s being reinvented as less tacky again @LaBellina but you must be aware that Burberry spent a long while as a ‘chav’ brand?

borntobequiet · 30/09/2021 09:47

Weren’t they always?

postingfortraffichere · 30/09/2021 18:38

😂 not quite michael kors that's a bit harsh lol
